How to Stop Giving It All Back

Kardec Trader explains why traders lose their winnings: euphoria makes them overconfident, deep beliefs they don't deserve success trigger self-sabotage, and a scarcity-driven hunger for more overwhelms discipline. These limbic patterns override logic and require a disciplined, impartial mind to overcome.

Giving it all back.
What trader hasn't had the experience of going on and getting it together, winning, putting a really good day together, really good trade together, and then once you have that winning and you've got it, you've booked it, and then what you do is you turn right around and you give it all back. But you add insult to injury because you give back more. You just don't give back what you earned. You give back more. What on earth is happening? You know, it's like you get it together and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, this boomerang happens and boom. What actually happens when that happens? Well, I'm going to give you three examples and we're going to get right down into the psychology and biology that interface between literally your survival biology and the psychology you develop about winning and losing. So the first one, we're just going to say, you know, something is a typical one. You win and it feels good. There's the problem right there. You feel good, of course you want to feel good, you're winning.
Yet at the same time, when you feel good from a neurobiological standpoint, you're experiencing euphoria. Euphoria is an emotional state that clouds thinking in a particular way. It has you believing that you've arrived, that the good times are going to roll on forever. And that is the emotional base that you begin to start thinking from. And what do you do? You turn around and you think, oh, man, I'm on fire. I've got it. And you go in and feeling good, you start looking and going, you know something, I can use a different time frame and I can find something to trade right there. It's good. It may be out of my plan, but it's good. And before you know it, you've eaten alive. That's the euphoria and it's dangerous. Most people, most traders think if I can just get past the fear, the fear of loss, you know, I can deal with anything. But they don't realize, oh, my gosh, winning and the euphoria, the feeling good that can occur after that. The overconfidence is a big deal. It is. It absolutely derails many traders dreams because that's the first one. The second one is, you might not believe this one. A lot of times people don't believe that they deserve to win. They don't deserve to be winning and making easy money. And so they start winning. And in back of them, this woundedness says, you don't deserve this. You didn't work hard enough. You didn't do everything right. And ultimately what you do is you self sabotage yourself because you don't believe you deserve the third one. This is powerful. And I want you to listen to this because most people in trading don't think about this. This is really about being consumed by the emotion of lust. Yeah, lust, it's one of the primary primitive emotions that drive human behavior. Suddenly you want to win, you want to win and you start seeing the winning and that.
I want more, I want more, I want more. It arrives and often it's a product of scarcity. Thinking of growing up in a family where, you know, things were not right. I have a client who grew up dirt poor, grew up literally with no shoes. And when they immigrated to the United States, his mother worked as a nanny and saw all this rich stuff that these affluent people had. And she felt shame and she felt guilt and she transferred that into her kids. They came to want money, they began to worship money, they began to lust after money. You know, if I have money, everything will be fine. And then what happened though is when this guy started putting good days together, good trades together, he would hit a certain area and the lust, the need to more, more, I want more kicked right in. Those are the particular areas you think about it. The lust just absolutely took over the mind. And lust, again, is an emotional state that thinking comes out of.
You can't allow yourself to feel good when trading. You are disciplined and impartial. That's what you are as a trader.
Lust can't be there. Feeling can't be there. You have to check in and really begin to say, do I deserve this?
That's where you go down to. And that is the area that you have to get in the soup of your implicit beliefs to truly discover what's driving the mind that trades. Because ultimately it's really about those implicit beliefs, those limbic learnings that happened long before you could think that locked into place that drive your thinking and your perception. It's not all the logic and reason that you read about and try to act from in trading, but it's these primary emotional states that grab you, hold you, and as you start winning, they kick in. Euphoria, deserving lust, not greed, friends, lust. Those are the primary ones. And I want you to take a look at your trading and start really looking and look at the performance. Look at your trading account and start saying, you know something. Yeah, I gave it all back. Let me take a look at what really happened. My promise to you, you'll find the euphoria you'll find the not deserving, or you'll find the lust there as the instigator to what caused you to lose the traitorous state of mind. You can work with that. You can learn to work with that and develop that mind so that it's one of discipline and partiality. But it requires work. If you want to learn more, come to our website, start reading the free stuff, get my book, and really start looking at the courses to see about how do I actually go about changing.
Limbic beliefs and learnings that are subconscious to me? How do I do that? Come and learn, friends. Come and learn.
