Maintain a Disciplined Confident Mind Under Pressure

Knowledge doesn't win in trading; emotional intelligence does. The speaker argues that biology pushes you toward short-term survival and control, but you can practice emotional regulation and mindfulness to trade probabilistically instead. The workshop teaches discipline, impartiality, and how to manage uncertainty by controlling your mind, not outcomes.

What separates a very knowledgeable trader from a successful trader? Knowledge is the beginning of trading. It's what's necessary, it's the price of admission. However, emotional intelligence, the ability to use emotion to generate the mind that trades is the gap between the knowledgeable trader and the truly successful trader. Understand this is that all thinking is emotional state dependent. No matter how much knowledge, no matter how much reason you have, as long as you don't have the emotional intelligence, the emotional power to be able to call forward the emotions you need to produce a particular mind, you're never going to be able to use that knowledge in the clutch. It's like this is that all thinking is emotional state dependent. So really it's not freedom from emotion you're looking for, it's freedom of emotion. If you grasp the idea that out of your emotions comes the quality of thinking, then you begin to look at your trading account very differently. You're beginning to go, you know something, what emotions do I need to basically be able to will up and be in to be able to create the mind that can trade in probability? Because friends.
Your biology and your psychology conspire against you always. Your biology is going to seek short term survival and most likely your psychology. That's why the perfectionist tries to control by not being wrong. That's why the alpha tries to predict outcome, make things happen. The truth is in trading it can't be done. What you can control in trading though is you. You can control the mind that you bring to the act of trading. This is what you learn in this workshop. This is what you learn. And you begin to go, okay, I have this knowledge and now I'm going to learn how to apply it in the environment of trading where uncertainty is the rule and you give up the illusion of control, the illusion of outcome. What you learn very quickly is that what I can control is me. I can control the emotions that I bring forward and bring the mind from. That's what you can control. When you know how to produce discipline and partiality. And it's a practice, it's not something you will, it's a practice that you learn to do. You end up producing the mind that can work in probabilities. You short circuit the biology. Who wants instant gratification, instant relief of stress? Okay, what you're doing is you have the staying power now you have that in you. In this workshop you will learn how to produce emotional regulation. You will learn literally how to calm and cool down the emotion so that it doesn't take over mine. Big deal. Then you learn mindfulness. And in mindfulness, friends, what you're learning there is you are learning how to step back out of thought and to recognize that you and your thoughts, you and your beliefs are not the same. Your awareness lives outside of thought. That's powerful. Then what you're going to learn is you're going to be able to learn to look into the mind and see the self limiting beliefs that hold you back from the next step. This is the huge power of mindfulness and the observer. And in doing that, you begin to see that your mind is really more of a committee and that there are various emotional programs that have been duking it out from control of that mind. And what you're going to learn how to do is call those forward and to produce a mind where you are the designer, not history. And in doing that, what you discover is just as you have judgment and criticism within you, just as you have fear and euphoria within you, you also have discipline, courage, self soothing, enormously important, and the impartiality to think clearly. What you don't have is the ability to observe the mind in these different pieces and to reorganize it. What you will learn in this workshop is how to reorganize that mind for the management of uncertainty. You will learn that no, you can't control outcome, but what you can control is the mind that you're bringing into the management of the moment. That, my friends, is the edge that the knowledge based trader is missing and the instinct trader has. He's bringing the emotions that allow him to, to really, really work with his knowledge in a way that the knowledge based trader can't. That's what you learn in this course. I hope you come take.
