Oh So Close: The Anatomy of an Emotional Hijacking

This YouTube piece (Kardec Trader) analyzes a videotaped trader who, despite knowing setups and entries, repeatedly loses performance when real risk appears. The transcript documents observable bodily precursors to an emotional hijacking—tensing, stopped/shallow breathing, fixation, rocking and tapping—driven by fear (including FOMO), which then alters thinking and causes premature exits. The presenters frame body-awareness as the critical early signal and promise a follow-up about preparation and interventions to prevent the hijack.

Have you ever had the sensation of being almost there, so close, so close, yet so far? I bet you have. Anybody who's paid their dues, have done the screen time, have done the training, knows what it's like to be there, to be able to sit there and predict and be able to see what charts say, and yet they're still so far away when they actually get into the performance. What happens is they fall down, something falls back and it stops them. Well, you know, this is when you know for a fact that it is the mind that you bring to the trading that is in fact the problem. In this month's article, what we've done is we've examined a trader and this is a one part and a three part article where we're examining different facets of a particular reaction. This trader has it down. He doesn't have problems entering the trade, he doesn't have problems knowing the trade, he doesn't have problems knowing what a setup looks like and moving into the setup. He has problems literally when there's really risk and he's managing risk and it's up and down, up and down, up and down. And ultimately what we're doing is saying the first sweep on this thing, the first article, the first thing we want to look at is this is emotionally what's happening in this article. What we've done is we videotaped him and an entirely new world shows up for him to see. He doesn't see what he's never seen before. Suddenly what he's looking at, he is looking at a person gone wild. He had never seen that before. He had always thought that he just somehow got sucked down some emotional vortex and lost his cool and that's why he got out early and left so much money on the table. But what he discovers, upon deeper reflection and as he, as he looks at this video, what he discovers, there's many telltale signs that he missed. He has been ignorant, he has been mindless about what the body can tell you about the emotional state you're in before the video. What he did is he never saw the emotional state coming. He was simply wiped out.
But in the video, what he discovers is there's all these incredible telltale signs. He looks at the video and goes, oh my go. I had no idea. Why didn't you tell me? Why didn't somebody tell me? The truth is he did not have the eyes to see the problem that he was experiencing. He just simply got into trades and.
He was in the trade and suddenly.
Things, you know, all that Bouncing around all that uncertainty, all that ambiguity, all that stuff. Suddenly out of nowhere is like all his charting, all his methodology, all that market structure was just thrown out of the window. And suddenly he finally got to the moment where there's some money there and suddenly he jumped out of the trade.
What we're seeing is that the cool, calm mind that started that trade somewhere got vacated. And what we're doing is, we're saying if you had a video camera, if you were able to watch yourself, you would have seen, you would have seen how it happened. You would have seen that in the video where he's beginning to.
He'S beginning to tense up, his breathing just absolutely stops. And then what breathing there is, is high like this. And then you see him reaching over like this into the, into the screen. He's fixated. And then you see him rocking back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And you see him tapping, tapping, tapping, tapping.
He had never seen this before. He saw the video himself. He's going, oh my God, I had no idea. Well, this is the precursors to the emotional hijacking that he experienced. Okay, that's the power of what we're talking about. So this first article that you're looking at, you're beginning to see an emotional hijacking. And you're beginning to see what happens when you produce an observation not of mind, but of body, recognizing that the.
Emotion is itself biological.
And you can tell tale what's going on emotionally with you by looking at the body. And so now he's going, oh my God, I see this, I see this.
I see it so well.
Now I can take one layer in and I can begin to see that there is possibility of intervention here.
The truth is that being pre warned is forearmed. Suddenly he knows that there is an area of a trade as he enters the trade that somehow he starts revving up. He starts revving up.
He's not aware of it, but he's.
Developing aware of it. And then what happens is he begins to see it. Fire and fire and fire and grow and grow till it takes over mine. Fundamentally what you've done is you had.
The triggering of an emotion, in this.
Case fear, fear of missing out on prophets. And it begins to arouse, it begins to rev up in his body. He's beginning to see this now and before he had not. Then he's beginning to see, oh my God, not only is that it's becoming fixated and then it becomes a feeling.
Running through the body.
The feeling is the chemistry of the emotion in the body, in the brain. And that's what's altering the thinking. That's what happens to the cool, calm thinking of the traitor to become this really crazy thinking. Because the emotional brain, now that it's feeling.
Is saying, I have a belief.
In that bad things are going to happen. And automatically the thinking mind is producing an explanation that supports that decision. And ultimately, when he gets out of that trade, it makes really good sense. But when he calms down and comes back to rational mind, it doesn't make sense. We see the precursors to the emotional hijacking. Okay.
Forearmed is forewarned. He now knows to look for that.
He can begin to alter that.
And in the next installment of this, we're going to be seeing, well, now that you're forearmed, how do you prepare? That's where we're going next. And it's been great. I want you to really study this and begin to see how this guy is developing awareness first of body and.
Where we're going as awareness of mind.
And what mind shows up to manage the uncertainty.
Sa.
