The speaker emphasizes writing down market observations (not position P&L) and asking ‘why’ to maintain critical thinking and avoid emotionally-driven decisions.

One thing I do that's really helped me in my trading career is every time I'm taking trades during the trading period, I'll write down my thought process. Or sometimes I'll say my thought process out loud when I'm talking to myself. I know it sounds crazy, but I'll have real conversation with myself reading what the market's telling me or writing down what the market's telling me. Because at that moment, I wouldn't let my emotions hijack my thinking process. Because the problem that happens is when you're in a position with real capital backing that position up, your emotions immediately hijack your critical thinking. And when your critical thinking gets hijacked, you're now thinking emotionally opposed to logically. So for me, when I start writing things down, when I start writing down my thought process, what I and I write down what I see in the market, not what my position is, not how much I'm up, what do I see? Why. Why is it doing this? Why do I think it's doing that when I'm writing those things down? If it's still justifying my directional play, I'll stay in now if it doesn't make sense. Alexa. So it just helped me kind of not allow my emotions to get hijacked.
