The speaker reports that in their experience a few months or one–two quarters generate most profits, so patience and staying within risk parameters during leaner periods is important.
Of course we care to make money every day. But I've learned the hard way that that's not a good measurement of success in trading. Out of 12 months, from what I've seen, you'll have two, three, four months that are terrible. And most of the time, from what I've seen In my trade, one or two quarters typically make 80% of my profits. So the other quarters, sometimes I just have to sit, be patient. Sometimes I'm not confident, Sometimes I'm not in tune with the market, Sometimes I'm not able to execute on the play. Sometimes the market's shifting too fast for me. Look at it from a larger scale. It doesn't create the day to day pressure. So if there's a day I'm not profitable, or even a of how profitable, okay. As long as it's within my risk parameters, I'm good.
