This is the most powerful concept in reading volume, and almost nobody talks about this. Effort versus result. When the market puts in maximum effort, maximum selling, maximum buying, and it gets minimum result, price barely moves, something significant is happening behind the scenes. Here's the example that made this click for me. The market is selling off, it's making new lows. Every signal says it's going to keep going lower. Then at the lows, the most aggressive selling of the entire session shows up here. More sellers than any other moment this day on that sell-off. But the market's just not going down here. That effort is without result. And maximum effort here with minimal result means something so simple. Someone's on the other side of the market. Every single one of those sell orders A buyer's there so large they're absorbing everything that these sellers are throwing at them without even flinching. When I see this maximum effort producing minimal result, the move is about to reverse and go the other way every single time.
