This YouTube video (Kardec Trader, uploaded Sep 18, 2023) argues that the primary reason traders perform poorly is a lack of a clear market edge and understanding. The speaker explains that a strong edge reduces emotional interference—preventing behaviors like taking profits early from uncertainty—while conceding that some uncertainty is unavoidable but can be minimized over time through consistent edge development.

Until you have an edge and you have a solid understanding of the market, your emotions will always take over. But when you start having a real edge and a real idea of executing, taking on trades and so on, your emotions will go down. When you're in a trade and you take profit early, why do you take profit early? Because you don't know where the trade's going to go. You're like, I don't know if it's going to go higher or not. It's not because of your emotions. Yes, your emotions are coming in because your edge isn't able to overtake that. But imagine if you get into a trade, your read of the market is, well, this trade has room to go higher. Put emotions to the side. Are you gonna sell? No, you're not gonna sell. You're not gonna take profit early. Why would you take profit early when this can go up another 5, maybe 10%? But you do take profit early because you're unsure. And there are times where you won't know what's happening. You won't be able to read the action of the market at the current time, and that's okay. But if you're able to do it over a long period of time, your emotions will play a very minimal part. Because your edge will be so strong, your understanding of the market will be so strong that you're not gonna have any problem.
