Unlocking Your Potential in Trading

Kardec Trader explains why traders fail despite knowing what to do: your thinking mind seeks control while your emotional brain demands immediate safety, triggering overtrading and revenge trading. The fix is training your emotional brain to tolerate uncertainty so it works with your thinking mind instead of against it.

How do you unlock the potential of your trading? You know, when you first start trading, you begin to see this potential and you go golly, you know, all I have to do is learn how to chart and how to figure out how these patterns work. And man, look at the upside, look at the potential and then you learn all that. And gosh, you have three, four, five years into it by that time and a ton of money. But then what you discover is that there's still something missing. You see all that potential, but it's locked up like locked up in prison.
The key friends, it's locked up in the very self limiting patterns that you brought to trading. The very self limiting patterns that your brain had wired you to and had been so successful outside of trading. You bring in trading and those self limiting patterns manifest, but there's no way to get out of them. Your trading account is going to tell you over and over again that the beliefs, the mind that you are projecting onto the markets is not going to be the mind that brings success. Ah, the rub. And it really begins there. You begin to say, okay, I know I have this potential. And I begin to see in my moments of self honesty that that potential is not being realized. The question is, how do I unlock it and how do I become the successful trader I know I can be? Not the one that I see in my dreams. I talk to other traders about, no, the one who is consistently profitable week in, week out, month in month out. How do you do that? The very first thing is literally acknowledging that the mind that you brought to trading is not going to be the mind that brings success in trading. Evolution did a great job about producing a survival instinct with us that produced a major species and has dominated the earth like nothing ever before. At the same time, this thinking mind showed up and it believes that it's in control. It believes that it can out think.
And can predict. It believes that it can control outcome. It will hold on to that for as long as the organism lives. Friends, that's what you bring into trading. The thinking mind produces a self deception. At the same time there's another part of that mind called the ancestral mind, or what we might call the emotional brain. The emotional brain has a completely different agenda.
Completely different. It wants survival in the moment. It wants to be able to say, you know something?
My survival instincts allow me to live for another day and I'm going to do that. And the problem is is that it hates probability, it hates chance, it hates the sense of vulnerability that comes with uncertainty. And it doesn't want to see it, it wants to lock on.
It wants to lock onto a belief about being in control. Even when you see the evidence, it's not. You experience this in trading all the time. When you see that it's not working and you keep doing the same thing over, over again and you find yourself losing money or just the cuts of a many, many bleeding, the bleeding of a many, many, many small cuts, you're looking at that. You're looking at the very thing where the thinking mind won't let go. And you don't know how to train the emotional brain to be able to handle engaging uncertainty. Well that's the trick friends. As long as you do not know how to engage uncertainty on its terms.
Not in the delusions you bring, not in the I'm a man, I can push through this. No, how do you engage uncertainty and recognize I don't know what's going to happen yet I have a mind that's prepared to manage the uncertainty even when I experience vulnerability. And in that vulnerability what I'm going to do is I'm not going to allow it to trigger to fight flight. That's evolution, that's short term survival. That's blowing up trades, that's sabotaging yourself. That's not being able to pull the trigger. That's over trading, that's revenge trading. Those are all evidence that you push the ancestral mind, the emotional brain too far and it's payback time. The key is how do you calm it down.
And then unite that ancestral mind, that emotional brain and the thinking brain, friends, that's the ticket. Until you can do that, your trading is going to get stuck at a particular level where you see the potential.
The problem is you can't unlock it and begin to achieve the potential. You see what you see as possible in trading. It doesn't have to be that hard, friends. It starts with regulation of literally the body as an emotion. Then it starts with saying, hmm.
How do I conjure up the emotions that give rise to a mind that can in fact engage uncertainty in a powerful new way. It can be trained, friends, but that's the key. As long as you stay stuck in the self limiting patterns, you don't unlock your potential. You have to overcome the thinking mind and develop the emotional brain, the emotional mind. You can't choose not to have emotions, but you can choose which emotions are going to show up to create the mind as it engages uncertainty. And friends, that's the magic. That's the place where you have the psychological edge that drives that method edge you have and that's what unlocks the potential that allows you to achieve those dreams you have in trading but not before. Come learn how. It's not that hard but you do have to work. You do have to be willing to put down the thinking brain and you do have to be willing to engage the emotional brain and reunite them to work with uncertainty in a very powerful different way. Not in controlling uncertainty, not in controlling the outcome but in controlling the mind you bring into that moment. The power is in that moment friends. The power is the mind that you bring into the moment to perform.
That's the psychological edge. You're not fearing the past nor the future. You're right there in the present moment managing the mind, engaging the uncertainty from a powerful new way friends. Come and learn. It's very learnable, very teachable. And if you want to become the trader you can be to unlock the potential.
This is going to have to be done.
Good luck friends. I've enjoyed my time here.
