I can taste yo, yo, yo I can taste yo, yo, yo I can taste yo, yo, yo y I can taste. Hello and good evening, everyone. I'm Katie McManus, business strategist and money mindset coach, coming to you live today on Instagram, on my phone over here. So if I'm looking at different things, that's why also on the Facebooks, on LinkedIn, on YouTube, and on Twitter, although I probably should disconnect because I don't really do that anymore anyway. I never did. I never really did Twitter. And it's. It's fitting that we're talking about this, because I'm talking about the five ways that you can massively screw up your social media. And this. This is for you. If you want to crash and burn your business, if you want to know exactly how to not get clients, then this is for you. These are all the ways that you can absolutely sabotage your own success. And I know there are some people who are just really into that. So I wanted to create a live for everyone. You know, there are some people who follow me to get, you know, tips and tricks and guidance on how they can be massively successful in their business. But, you know, the flip side is also available to you. If you want to know exactly how you can get nowhere fast, this is for you. Okay? And all joking aside, these are the things you don't want to do if you want to be successful. All right? If you want to get clients, if you want to have a successful business, I would. I would cross these things off of your strategy list, all right? And a little housekeeping. I've been noticing that not all of my comments have been coming through specifically from Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Twitter. So if you're here and if you have a comment or a question, I love these to be interactive. However, if. If. If you're commenting and I'm not, you know, talking to you or responding to your comment, answering your question, unless you said something massively rude, it's not me ignoring you. It's just the technology isn't working for us, all right? So, anyway, let's dive into it. So here are the five ways you can prevent yourself from having a successful business. Now, number one, this is a big one. This is a big one. This is why we're starting with it. This is why it's. Number one is you. If you don't want to have clients, if you don't want to have a successful business, then you absolutely want to devote yourself to finding creative new things to say every single day. All right? You want to come with something fresh and completely different every single day, okay? This will make sure that your audience is confused, all right? And when an audience is confused, they don't know how you're useful to them, okay? They don't know how they can hire you, be in business with you. You want to keep changing tactics here. You want to, like, talk about your beliefs one day, and you want to talk about another thing another day. And you want to, like, constantly change what programs you're talking about. You want to roll out new programs all the time, okay? You. You want to confuse the fuck out of your people, all right? That is how you can prevent yourself from getting any clients, all right? This is what I want you to remember. A confused buyer doesn't buy. So if you don't want to get clients, then confuse the crap out of them, all right? And you will be so happy. On the flip side, if you want to have clients, if you want to have a successful business, here's what you need to do, is you need to figure out. It's not about saying, like, coming up with creative, innovative posts and new content every single day, saying a bunch of different things. It's about saying one thing a thousand different ways. Okay? This gets really boring. It does. It gets really, really boring. And you're going to feel like you're being repetitive. You're going to feel like, oh, my God, I'm so bored of talking about this. Like, my people must be so bored of me talking about this. I want to remind you that you're in your life, you're in your expertise every single day. Your audience is not. Right? They're not. They're in their problems. They're living their lives, right? You pop through occasionally on their feed. They're not going to see everything. I think, on average, I know on LinkedIn, on average, 5% of your following will see your post if they're active. I think it's way lower on Instagram and TikTok, depending on how big your following is and how engaged you are. But you need to figure out, like, you need to figure out a bunch of different ways to say the same thing over and over again. You know, you need to find a bunch of different ways to describe the problems that you solve, to describe the desired outcomes that your clients get with you, to talk about why you're in your business, to share testimonials and case studies and to share details of your program. Okay? Because here's the thing. A confused buyer doesn't buy. And if your Audience is confused. They're not going to buy. And if you want them to buy, you need to make sure that they are crystal clear on who you are and how you are useful to them. Okay, we're no longer, hello, welcome. We're no longer interested in the elevator pitches and all that stuff. Stuff like, I don't care what your job title is. I don't care what you call yourself. I want to know, are you useful to me? Are you useful to people I know, right? Whenever you meet someone, like, and this, this goes for social media and in real life, whenever you meet someone you know, your brain subconsciously scans for, is this person useful to me? Can I hire them? Can I be in business with them? Can they be a friend of mine, yada, yada, yada, Right? Or is this person useful to someone I know? Can I refer them? Can I be helpful? Can I make an introduction that will up my status? Right. Too often I see new business owners out there and they're really, really concerned with what they should call themselves. They're coming up with all these, like, random titles and stuff, and no one cares, no one cares what your title is because often they don't know what it means anyway. So you want to make sure that people are crystal clear how you are useful to them, what is the problem you solve, and what is the outcome that your clients get when they work with you? So, but, but seriously, if you do not want to get clients, then don't listen to that. If you don't want to get clients, then you want to confuse the bejesus out of everyone who follows you. Okay? So that's number one. Okay, so don't say sorry, don't say one thing a thousand ways, say a thousand different things all the time to confuse people. That's how you guarantee that you will not get clients from social media. Number two is you have to be. If you don't want to get any clients, you have to be a major weenie about using calls to action. And if you don't know what a call to action is, it's that little sentence that's usually at the bottom or at the end of a post or at the end of a video. That's like if, if you're, if you have a question about this, put the comment below. Or if you're ready to sign up, then the L in the comments or in my bio. And it's basically telling you what the next step is, right? It's instructing you, if this is really helpful, then to do this next thing. And we can take this to the next level, right? So if you do not want to have clients, if you don't want to grow your email list, if you want to crash and burn your business, don't use any CTAs, okay? CTAs are. Will get you clients. And if you don't want clients, then do not use cta. This is a really fun, fun way to approach this. I'm having fun with this. It's kind of like opposite day. So you need to be a major weenie about using calls to action, all right? And that is another way that you can prevent yourself from having a successful business. Now, number three is you want to make sure if you do not want to get clients, and you want to make sure your business never lifts off the ground. You want to make sure to follow all of the bad advice, okay? And there's a ton of bad advice out there. So you actually get to take your pick, right? So one bit of bad advice is to join pods or buy followers. You can absolutely do that if you want to completely sabotage your business. You know, another way that I recommend sabotaging your business is by letting, like, chat, GPT or AI write all of your posts for you. Mm. That will absolutely make sure that nothing that you write or put out there will ever stick out or get anyone's attention. There's another one that I'm forgetting. Oh, man, where's my brain today? Another way that you can prevent yourself from getting clients. And I'm starting that sentence hoping that I'm going to remember what it is and it's not coming to me. Oh, my gosh, I completely forgot. I will think of it, but. Oh, oh, oh, oh. You want to give a ton of value. You want to. You want to basically solve people's problems. You want to make sure that they never have to give you their money. They just, like, they can read your stuff, and it's basically step by step exactly how they don't need to hire you. Okay? You want to share so much value that they have no reason to be in business with you, right? You want to. You want to just give them step by step. That's one of the best ways to prevent yourself from ever getting paying clients, right? Because who needs to hire you if. If they have your solution for free? It's perfect, right? On the flip side, if you want to get clients, if you want to get clients, you know, people don't need advice thrown at them. They don't need that. There's so much advice being bandied about, like, there's so many people offering their opinions. This is the best way to do this. This is the best way to do that. Doing it right now, I'm telling you, the best ways to sabotage your business, right? But here's the thing. Those things, they get attention and they do build your following, and they do get people like, building trust with you, but it doesn't show that you understand them, right? So if you do want to get clients, provide some value, don't. You don't have to give the whole shop away, point people in the right direction, but more than that, empathize with where they are, right? You've been in their shoes. You understand what it feels like to have the problems that they have, right? You understand how uncomfortable it is to want something, to want something to happen and not be able to get it. Right. Whatever it is that you do, right? I don't care if you're selling socket wrenches or if you're providing, like, you know, executive coaching that helps people become, you know, CEOs. Whatever it is, you understand the pain and the desire that they have. And you don't have to, like, solve it for them. You don't have to provide ways for them to get it on their own. You just have to normalize, like, everything that they're feeling, everything that they're worried about that they are struggling with, and everything that they want. Right? Because that's going to show that you really deeply understand them, you know? But if you don't want to get clients, then do not do that. Just shove advice in people's face and, like, random advice too, you know, like, what do you do when you have a leaky faucet? And what happens, you know, if you have, like, a noise coming from your engine? You know, just give them random advice. That'll be really helpful. But seriously, I'm going to circle back to the Chat GPT thing. Chatgpt is great. Like, we are learning to use it so quickly for so many different things. And it's incredible when you're trying to source ideas for posts, you know, because it's basically combing the Internet and, you know, other people who do what you do and finding what the SEO is ranking for. So. So it's showing you things that, like here, topics that your ideal clients are already searching for that other people are creating content for. All right, so get in on those conversations a hundred percent, but do it in your own voice if you want clients. Okay? ChatGPT people can tell a ChatGPT post. I can tell I can tell on LinkedIn when people use ChatGPT to comment on my post, and I actually delete them, right? Because if someone's too lazy to actually put in the time to comment on my post, I'm not responding to that. And I respond to every single comment that people leave on my posts, right? But if you're not actually leaving a comment, like, I'm not getting into conversation with you, people are picking up on this really quickly, and it's gonna so some distrust. And here's the thing that I want you to remember is if you do want to get clients, you don't have to be a good writer, right? You do not actually have to be a good writer. You have to write in your voice, right? Your grammar can be shit. You know, your sentence structure can be bad. But writing in your voice will create an incredible amount of trust. Because when that person who's followed you for a long time and liked your posts and comment on them and finally books a call with you and they get on the phone with you, I laugh because this is like the old way of doing the telephone. Whereas kids these days go like this because it's like they're holding a smartphone. Anyway, by the time they get on the phone with you, you want them to be like, oh, my God, you talk just the way you write, right? And it creates so much trust, right? Okay, so if you want to get clients, then you want to write your own stuff. You want to. You want to write it in your own voice. But if you don't want to get clients, then absolutely use ChatGPT. I want to circle back also to pods and buying followers. It feels good. You know, pods, basically, if you're not. If you're not familiar with pods, it's basically when you join a group and whenever you post something, you post that post to the group, and everyone has to, like, pile on and go and comment on it. And it's always like, great post, so helpful. Thank you. Great post, so helpful. Thank you. And you can always tell when someone's a member of a podcast, but the problem with that is you're basically training the algorithm to show your post to more people like that. And those are not your clients. Those people will never buy from you, okay? They are trying to get attention on their posts as badly as you are. Right? It doesn't feel good to post stuff and not get a ton of engagement. But let me tell you, the posts that I create to get clients, the ones that are really, really targeted to get my clients, you know, talking about their pain points, talking about what they're frustrated with, talking about what they want. You know, their ideal life after working with me, they get very few likes and they get very few comments, but they do get sales bookings. Okay? So if you, if you want to prevent your business from ever being successful, then absolutely join pods and absolutely buy followers. But if you want to be successful, then create content for your ideal client and be patient, okay? They will find you. It also helps to go and engage with other creators who are kind of at your level and a little bigger and really build genuine friendships. Okay? That's like people want to connect with other humans on the Internet. They're not just looking for the most bland version of the person who solves the problem that they have that they can hire. No, like, we are constantly scanning for joy. I like you. And if I like you enough, like, I want to find a way to work with you, and if I can't find a way to work with you, I'm going to find a way to introduce you to someone to work with. Right? Because I want to be in your world, right? That's how we operate as humans, okay? We're relationship based. However, if you don't want to have a successful business, then fuck relationships you like, don't engage, don't be personable. You know, just buy followers and join pods. It'll be so effective. So that's number three in the five ways that you can prevent yourself from getting clients. And if you're just joining us, hello, I am going live to the Facebooks, to LinkedIn, to YouTube, to Twitter, and over here on Instagram on my phone. If you're watching on the other things, you can actually see the back of my phone and how terribly cracked it is. I dropped it like eight months ago and I have a case on it in the back shattered. And I always laugh when I do this because you can kind of see, I like the angle here, but you can see the phone on the, on the computer screen and it's just, yeah, I need to get that fixed anyway. The fourth way that you can prevent yourself from getting clients is you can use the same strategy for social media on every single platform. Okay? This is a very effective way to prevent yourself from getting clients from people on different platforms. Okay? So what I'm talking about here is like, you know, what works on LinkedIn doesn't work on Instagram necessarily. And what works on Instagram doesn't work on TikTok necessarily. And what works on Facebook doesn't work on Twitter. Necessarily. Right. But if you really want to prevent yourself from, from gaining a following, from getting clients, from growing your business, then you want to figure out like one shitty strategy for one platform and then just apply it to the rest, right? So say you're doing LinkedIn, you're going to write a post and then you're going to screenshot it and you're going to share that picture on Instagram. And then on TikTok, you're just going to do a video of that screenshot with like some, you know, bogus music in the background. You're going to, you know, copy and paste it to Facebook and then to Twitter and you're not going to engage anywhere, right? That's how you prevent yourself from getting clients. If you do want to get clients, however, which I send some people who are watching this might actually want to do. You, you want to like adhere to the strategy that works on all those different platforms. Okay. And here's the reason. When my clients start with me, I generally make a rule that they need to pick one platform to stick with for that first year. Right. The reason being it's really hard to learn a strategy well enough to start getting clients from it. Hi, Tony. Welcome. So, you know, for instance, like LinkedIn, I was on there for about a good year and a half before I started branching out into other platforms, platforms, right? And really I wasn't even consistent on those other platforms until recently. Okay. And this is years into my business. It's really hard work to learn one platform. It is incredibly hard to learn several platforms at once, right? Because in the back of your mind you're still learning what kind of content works. And if you're on too many platforms, you're going to get confused, right? You're going to get confused like what was effective on TikTok last week and what was effective on LinkedIn last week. Oh, and you're going to start blending them, right? It's just you want to make sure that you have one down before you start branching out into other things. Okay? But like I said, if you don't want to get clients, if you want to crash and burn your business, then you absolutely should use one strategy across the board. Okay, Hot tip there. Now this is a big one. Number five, people forget this. You know, sure fire way to scare people away from you is to make sure that when you're creating your content, you are in the worst, most miserable, grouchy, hangry, hate everyone mood. Right? That is one of the best ways to make sure that you scare people Away we, like, there's this amazing thing that happens. Language is an incredible tool that we have. But words do more than communicate meaning, they communicate energy, right? And so when you speak, when you're in a good mood, when you write, when you're in a good mood, it communicates that positive energy. When you write, when you're in a shitty mood, however, it communicates that shitty energy, right? So if you want people to think that you're basically just a shitty human being, absolutely wait to create your content when you're in a shitty mood, right? It's one of the best ways to do it, really. However, if you do want to get clients, you and I say this saying I say this, I don't want you to get hung up, that, like, you have to be in the perfect mood and you have to be like, exactly, feeling it every single time. You don't. And if you set yourself up to be like, oh, I'm only going to create content when I'm in this, like, super high vibration, really happy mood, you're, you're never going to be consistent with content. But you want to make sure that, like, you're at least at an even keel, right? You're an even key keel. You're reasonable. If you're happy, great. If you're in a funny mood, even better, right? People will remember how you make them feel, okay? They will rarely remember the exact words that you use, okay? You can agonize over a post when you're in a bad mood and it's just not going to hit, right? It's not going to get the clients that you want. It's not going to attract the type of energy you want in the comments, you know? But if you write a post when you're feeling good, or at least neutral, you know, that's when that energy gets translated, right? And here's a little hot tip. So, like, if you're in a neutral mood, you know, if you're just like kind of blah one day and you can't muster up like any excitement for what you're trying to say, I want you to think about your ideal client and I want you to think of like your ideal client, you know, if they were in like a serious pickle, if they were really, really stuck and they really needed to work with someone like you, like, what would they need to hear, right? What would be the thing that would make them feel like, oh, my God, I'm not alone, thank God, like, this is just a beautiful reassurance. Oh, you know, it might be sharing Your story in a time that you struggled. It might be doing like a case study with a client, but like talking about the rough parts of, of the journey of whatever you're helping your clients do. It could also just be, you know, saying, hey, listen, if you're struggling with X, Y and Z, it's normal. It's normal. And by the way, if you, if you want to change that, then you should absolutely click the link in my, in my bio. But again, if you want to prevent yourself from getting clients, don't do that. Don't do that. Wait until you're super grouchy. Like go, go and you know, go on the highway during rush hour in the mornings. Get cut off, have people flip you off, like drive like a jerk and have people get really angry with you. Don't eat, don't eat. Don't give yourself coffee. Get really hangry. Also, don't shower. You know that feeling when like you're kind of grungy and like you kind of start sweating but your skin is oily and you just start feeling like your skin is crawling and you just get really irritable. That write your stuff from that place. Okay? That is a surefire way to scare people away from you. Anyway, I hope this has been super useful. I had a lot of fun with this. I'm actually going to go and make a TikTok on this because I think I can make, I could have a lot of fun with it. If you're curious about more ways to prevent yourself from having business, then hit me up. You know where to find me. If you're really struggling with any of this, of, you know, with figuring out what you need to say, this is what I do with my clients, both in my build your own business group program and with my one on one clients. You know, it's funny, I, I just started with a couple clients and it's always funny the first couple months because they're going through market research, interviews, they're really dialing into their niche. They're really gaining a new perspective on who their ideal clients are. And it's always so much fun because they kind of get it. They kind of get it. Like they're seeing the potential for what they could be saying. And they're constantly paying me like, hey, what about this? Hey, what about this? I'm trying to say something like this, like, how do I do this? And it's so much fun to show them all these like bizarro weird, fun ways that they can come up with ideas for content based on what their ideal clients need to hear in order to make the decision to hire them. So if you are interested in working together, if you feel like that would be really helpful, then there are a few different ways to get in touch with me. You can DM me and we can I I can send you a link to book a generate Income strategy call, or you can go to my bio in various different social media forms. If you can't find it though, just DM me. Anyway, this is day five of me going live every single day, Monday through Friday for 30 days. If you have any topics that you'd like me to go live on in the Future, then please DM them to me. Other than that, I'm Katie McManus, business strategist and money mindset coach. Thank you so much for joining and I will see you all tomorrow. Bye.
