Brave Biz Labs 2024 09 20

Transcript of a Brave Biz Labs live coaching call led by Katie McManus with participants Jason, Erica, Monica, and Yvonne Lee Hawkins. The group discusses boundary-setting in hosted spaces (Katie removes an unintended attendee), participants share recent wins, and Katie coaches several concrete business problems: how Monica can ask a conference organizer for access to recordings (and potential exchange options), how Erica should structure tiers/onboarding and retainers for social media/video work (including contract/asset clauses), and how Jason should prioritize market research and LinkedIn profile hygiene to reach his goal of three new clients. Operational questions about ClickUp reposting, Acuity booking links, and when to open a business credit card are also addressed. The call ends with each participant stating main takeaways.

Good. To. Morgan.
Hi.
How's it going?
Good.
Yeah?
Yeah. Have you ever had fantasies of just blowing everything up and starting from scratch?
Yeah. Yeah. Happen all the time. That's what I. And then I did, and it was so amazing. With paul fillmore. Hi, paul.
Hey.
How are you?
I'm well. How are you? Are you. Are you a new member of Hyper Focused?
I have not joined anything yet. I'm just checking you out for the first time.
Oh, okay. So that's so. So did you register for today?
I did.
Oh, that's so weird because today is. The third Friday. Okay. So normally this is only open to the public on the fourth Friday, so I'm so. I'm so sorry about that. But we will be open to the public next week. Okay. Same time. Okay. So we can see you then.
Sounds good.
Okay, awesome. Thanks, Paul. Have a good one. Bye.
It's weird.
I've never had to do that before.
Well, that's so interesting how you just set that boundary. Yeah, that blew my mind a little.
And it might have been my mistake, but I don't think think so. He might have thought that it was this week. I just want to check something really quick. Oh, funny. Yeah, he was able to register for today. That's weird. Yeah, you can set boundaries 100%. Hi, Monica.
Monica, you missed it. Katie just kicked someone out.
It was really weird. Like the zoom. The direct zoom link doesn't work anymore and I have to remember to go through the heartbeat.
Yes, I know. It'll take a moment for things to update. That's so weird. Oh, what happened?
Well, no, because I just need to delete the other. I have like three, three meetings on my calendar for this now, so I have to just figure out how to remove the other ones.
So ad event should have gone away.
That one went away. So it's just my personal ones that I need to get rid of.
Okay, cool. Yeah. So, well, do you want to do a training on kicking people out really quick?
Yeah.
What happened? So someone was able to register for some reason for Brave Biz Labs today, which shouldn't. Shouldn't be open. There shouldn't be one listed for today for the public because I only do it on the fourth Friday and so someone who wasn't part of our communities because, you know, this, this call, every single Friday is available to you guys, to anyone in advanced, to my one on one clients and to folks who are in the hyper focused community, even though I haven't promoted it and there's only like four people in there, but Anyway, but yeah, so, and then I open it up on the fourth Friday to folks who are in just the general public, so they can kind of come and experience this. But, you know, it's, it's my world and it's your world and I, I get to set boundaries with people, even if it's like a technical issue. You know, if someone shows up into the space who doesn't belong in the space, you can have a moment of, oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. Like, this is actually a close call for, for my clients. Right. You also, if any, and I've had to do this in the past. I've had to have conversations with folks who've been in the space who are being disrespectful, you know, and say, cool. Like, you know, this is a safe space and speaking like that is just not okay here. And so I'm going to ask you to leave. You know, I've also had folks I know, this is fun. I had someone show up who was part of an MLM and she wanted to give us all her little pitch. And I said, absolutely not. Absolutely not. Like, if you want feedback on the MLM pitch, then I'm happy to do that. And she didn't really know, so she's like, yes. And you know, I ripped the whole pitch apart because it was terrible and it was, it was what she was given by corporate. But it's like, no, no, no, no. You don't, you don't get to come into someone else's space and sell stuff without permission. But, you know, part of it is this is my space. I get to do what I want here. But also it's my responsibility to give you all the, the experience that you signed up for. Right. And when you're hosting group sessions, when you're like owning the room, say you have a pop up or a webinar or something, even something free, it is your responsibility to keep it the environment that people signed up for. Right. And it doesn't make you a bad person. Did anyone think I was a bad person by how I asked him to leave? Yeah, it's uncomfortable and probably a few years ago I would have felt terrible. Right now I'll have to watch the recording. Oh, man. Yeah. So anyway, so yeah, it's, it happens sometimes people like pop in and they don't realize that it's not the fourth Friday. They just happen to have the link and maybe they saved it so that they could join at some point. But yeah. Any questions on that?
No.
Makes sense.
Cool. Awesome. Let's go into celebrations and then get into your questions for today.
I'm celebrating putting myself out there, but also have a question on how to word a message that I want to send.
Yes, we will get to that first then. But yay for you putting yourself out there. Cool. What else are we celebrating today?
I mentioned this in the earlier call, but I took your advice on the networking chats, so I put a call out on Monday to do that and I had some really fun networking chats yesterday. So I think I'm going to do it once a month. Like it was just low pressure and fun and kind of get to know you. The kind of, I don't know, the stuff that you would do in an office.
Right?
Getting to know new people.
Yeah, yeah, exactly. And it builds those, it builds those connections with people you're meeting on LinkedIn also.
Yeah, the one guy is a, he designed his own holistic, like brain protocol and so he's actually looking for affiliates too. He's super, super interesting guy, like ready to retire, but he's just like looking to give information away.
Yeah. Interesting.
That's kind of fun.
Yeah, no, that's really cool. Awesome. And Jason, what are you celebrating.
So far? Like, I've posted every day since the challenge started, so that's the big, the big goal this month is to make sure that I do that completely. So. Yeah.
Okay, awesome. Cool. And then, Erica, welcome. We're just doing celebrations. What do you want to celebrate?
Hi.
Yeah, I definitely want to be celebrating the fact that I have my first client I'm going to be setting up today. The tiers they initially pitched me for the initial work around like twelve hundred dollars. But because they want a really fast track turnaround time, I'm gonna ask for like 1600 it. And then after that they want me to essentially be able to help build the brand of this restaurant that's happening in Colorado and the website. So that is, that is a completely separate like payment and purchase that I'm going to ask for, but I have to basically be able to design all that, give them a reason why. And the fact that they are giving me more like full on creative freedom of what this looks like. And they're trying to be as off hands within like that kind of nitty gritty design process. I'm very excited about it.
That's huge. Congratulations.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm sorry.
How fun for you.
I know, I'm so excited. And then I guess because I am for sure having a conversation next week with A different client. It is like for sure happening. I'm already getting like ideas and all that stuff. It's just also giving her a tear. And another small business is coming to me on Friday and we're talking about her website design and like how she's building herself as a Pilates instructor.
Amazing.
Yay.
That's huge. Okay, so yes, we will get to that. We had Monica framed up another question, so we're going to hit her first and then come to you and then we'll open it up to open Q and A deal. Okay, Monica, tell me what, what are we wording here?
So it's related to that post that I posted today that you helped me edit and me just asking for things that I don't normally ask for. And I'm basically asking to it to attend a conference for free. I, I, I, I'm sure the answer is no, but I want to ask anyway just in case the answer, you know, it'll happen. So I, I just don't know how to word it.
Okay, so tell me about the conference. Tell me how you fit into the conference. Tell me the pricing. Tell me, tell me all the, like, just info dump me. So I understand the context here.
Yes.
So it is an audit analytics conference and I wanted to speak at it, but the speaker call was already closed when I asked. And I, I found out about it, you know, really late, obviously after the speaker thing closed. And I also have other priorities during that time, so I can't even attend. But there is a way that you can get the recordings afterwards, but you have to pay for the recordings and it's 750 and you know, like I just can't afford that for some recordings for a conference. So I'm just, I just want to throw it out there like an ask because I've been asking these things that I'm like, I'm sure the answer is no. And some of them are happening and I'm like, oh, that's kind of cool. So maybe I should just ask more questions.
Okay. I love this because here you are and you're not. You wouldn't be getting paid to speak there anyway.
No, I don't, but, but you would be able to go to the conference for free, right? If you're a speaker. And that's how I've been going to conferences. But since I couldn't be a speaker, then I'm like, oh, well, yeah, else can I get for free?
Yeah. So here's how you're going to frame it up. You're going to send them an email and say, hey, everyone, or hey, hey, Suzanne, whatever the person's name is. I was so bummed I found out about this too late to apply to be a speaker. This is my world. I have, like, I have like. I've built a whole company around doing analytics for audit professionals. And I was so excited to potentially, like, come and share my expertise. I know this is probably not a normal ask or kind of like a non traditional ask something, but I want to propose something for next year, but I want to make sure I'm not doing something that's already been done. Would it be possible for me to get a copy of the recordings just so I could see what is already being shared with this community so that next year I can propose something that really adds value to your audience that they haven't gotten before? You know, totally understand if the answer's no, but figured, you know, like, the answer's always no if you don't ask. Yeah. You know, really looking forward to applying to speak with you guys next week, next year.
Okay.
Yeah. So.
Two things about that. I posted my. I posted that post already. I don't know if they're going to see it or not, but I said asking to attend this conference for free, so I don't know if that changes anything. But also the owner or the person that's running this conference owns a company that helps internal audit departments, you know, use analytics. So I'm technically a competitor, I suppose. So I don't know that that message would really hit.
So who are they having? Speak?
They're having people from internal audit departments at different companies talk about how they leverage analytics.
Oh, awesome. Yeah. And what do you want the recordings for then?
I think that it'll help me with my LinkedIn learning course. Just I've been doing a lot of research on, you know, what's available on the Internet and how other folks are using. But the white papers and all of that that I'm finding just don't go into as much details as I think this conference would.
Yeah. Okay. So you could go at it with that angle. You could also reach out to the people who are speaking and ask to interview them and tell them that you're.
I did. Oh, I. I definitely did that like months ago, but that's why I was telling you they don't, they don't do anything on LinkedIn. They're not active. So I haven't been able to literally, like, talk to any of them. Right.
Okay, cool.
So.
Hmm. This is like a fun puzzle. Yeah. I mean, then I would reach out and I would say exactly that I'm developing a white paper to like really showcase like what's being done in the audit space. Analytics. Now this is kind of a non traditional ask, but like, you know, would love to like hear what's being shared here and like, and also like feature the event in this white paper, you know, and individuals who shared the information, you know, with their permission. You know, I like, it depends. So with this stuff, like this, like asking for stuff for free, people do it all the time. Right. We just have to have a good reason. And what I don't want to do is position you as someone who's not making any money. Yeah, right. With your, with your contemporaries. Right. But like, that can sometimes be like, hey, I'm just a startup, you know, really want to come to this conference? Do you have any discounts or do you have any like pro bono tickets that like, are available? Yeah. What feels good to you?
I could, I could ask. I did this before, a couple years back where I was saying that I can write like a blog post summarizing the event.
So I can help in.
That way and that would like compensate, like for the price.
Yeah, yeah, you could absolutely do that. My only, my only hang up there is. This is a competitor.
I know.
So, I mean. And you do want to speak there in the future? I don't know that I would do this with this one.
No. Well, I already posted the post.
Yeah, but they don't know that you talked about them. Were you specific about the event? Did you say which event?
Well, yeah, because you told me to.
Oh, okay.
Say what, what event it was.
Okay. So I mean, you could always go in and edit the post. I mean, there's the angle of this just being a social experiment also.
Yeah, that's true.
You know, like, I'm trying to put myself out there. I was just wondering, you know, is there any way that I could like do an exchange for a blog or whatever and get the recordings for free? You know, my only hang up here is that it's a business. They make money by selling tickets. They'll remember this request. And depending on how big the organization is, whoever's booking speakers for next year might be the same person who's feeling fielding this email and may have feelings about it if you're wanting to next year. So I mean that this is the.
Person that I'm already like, I've already had conversations with asking if I could speak because it's the owner, like the event planner.
Yeah.
So you've already had conversations. I, you know, I would just, I would straight up ask, you know, I, I know. I, I'm not. I know you didn't have space for me to speak this time. Unfortunately, I can't go. And I was wondering, is there any way for me to just get the recordings, you know? You know, really excited to like submit myself to speak next year and if they send you a link back with like the link to purchase, then just don't buy. Okay, Right, yeah, sorry. When you said that in the post, I thought you meant you'd already done it.
I just have not been able to get myself to word things properly and figure out how to ask. And so just like, well, I'm just going to put this post out there and maybe the post itself would just manifest itself.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which sometimes works. Absolutely. But in the future you're planning on doing something. Yeah, yeah, tell me that in the post because otherwise I, I read it as past tense.
Okay, that's fair.
Okay, cool. Because that way, that way we could absolutely have like. Yeah, I don't know, like that then it puts the pressure on them to give away some away something for free for. Yeah, yeah. So I, I would do this. I would go and edit the post and just like make it like an audit specialized conference, like not name it. And then I would reach out that way and just say, hey, I'm really excited to submit to speak next time. So bummed. I can't, I can't do it this time. You know, wondering if you'd be able to share any of the recordings with me. Right, Yeah, I would do it that way. Yeah.
All right.
Does that work? It does. Okay, cool, cool.
Thank you. Awesome.
All right. And then Erica talking tears. Hopefully not the crime. Yes.
Hi.
I think in terms of the tiers, like for the interior designer, I kind of want to give her like a low base of how I could take pre recorded footage from her, being able to revamp it to the style and idea that she wants to like show herself online, how we can like create like a baseline of the types of themes and strong words that would very much resonate as to how we would want to portray her. And then I was thinking more about like if she has bigger events that happen or a bigger project, how if she wants to prioritize on getting that to, you know, have multiple series or have like a documentary style, like way of showing it, that would obviously require me to have a lot more time and attention on that particular project as well as the possibility of me needing to travel to her to like be like aware or more of overseeing how the content is being made with the types of videographers, photographers that she has to make sure like she gets the type of content that she's requiring or looking for. And then I would say it would be two separate tiers for that because I would think like one event would be probably more serious, like because that's, that can't be built over time versus like a project that is like progressively takes months.
So give me some context here. Is this for social media? Is this for assets for her website? What, what is this stuff?
Mostly, mostly social media. Like mostly different types of platforms for social media.
Okay, Okay, cool. So, so with stuff like this, all that stuff is kind of like the sub stuff, like the, the stuff that goes into what you're already gonna do. We want to make it stupid simple for them, right? So like what they're gonna understand is what do I get? Right? Is it three posts a week? Is it five posts a week? Is it five Posts a week and a YouTube video? But they have to like make sure that they're giving you the assets for it.
Right, right, right.
Contractorly. When this is just business advice, not legal advice. Because I'm not a lawyer, I can't legally give legal advice. You need to have in there some kind of clause that says if you do not give me the video or the assets that I require to create the content for you. I am not obligated to create the content that I can't create. I've seen 100% over that way.
Yeah. 100%, yeah.
So, okay, so with that like, I think, I think the branding bit that you described at the beginning, where you really understand what her aesthetic is, you come up with like a whole thing. I think that's an onboarding fee that you do regardless. That's like, it's like, you know, it's like a one time fee of maybe $1,000, $2,000, whatever. Because once you have that, it can be, you know, you'll know the filters, you'll know that the fonts, the colors, all that stuff like that can be handed over to someone in house after you develop it. Right. It's an asset that she can have after that. Yes. And then I would break it up into. Does she do events a lot?
I am not too sure yet. Next week is when I get to know more about what she is really looking to like get more into. She's just been sending some form of like interior designers that she's already inspired by and the kind of content that they do. And so I can only imagine that with working as an interior designer and prior experience myself, there's times in which, like, you want to focus on the project or you want to focus on an event that you were invited to or that happened, slash, like, you get to display your work.
Cool. Okay, cool. So, I mean, I would do that as a case by case basis unless she has, like a consistent event every month. But for right now, I would do the call with her, understand what her needs are. Like, understand what would serve her best, you know, for, for interior designers. You know, I make up that between like three and five posts a week would be just fine. You know, a couple showcasing work they've already done, maybe one or two behind the scenes, and then maybe one of her, like, talking about a certain aesthetic and like, the parts that go into it. Right?
Totally, totally.
Yeah. So whenever we're going through a sales process with someone who we're going to be creating, like a proposal where there are choices, you do not have to come up with what the choices are before the call. Right. You're going to basically do this in two parts. Right. You're going to have the strategy call, which is all about her understanding her business, where she is now, what she struggled with in the past, what goals she has, and like, what she wants social media to do for her. Right, right. I know the call. You're like, okay, amazing. I understand exactly what you need right now. Let me go away. I'm going to come, I'm going to come up with a few different options for you. So you have some choices. And let's schedule a proposal presentation call. Okay? This will take me a couple days for me to write all this out. So let's say it's Wednesday. Why don't we touch base on Monday? I have this time and this time available, which works best for you. And then you say, and then you schedule it and you say, okay, awesome. So on that call, I'm going to share my screen. We'll go through the proposal that I've put together. I'll send it to you afterwards. But I want to make sure that as we're going through it, any questions you have, it's crystal clear. So you're not getting something like, I don't know what this means, and if there's anything missing from that, then I can go away and really fix it fast. Right. And then after that proposal presentation call, you're saying, okay, cool. So how much time do you want to Take to look this over to decide or do you know which one you want to do? Right. If she knows which one she wants to do right away, then you're like, awesome, great. Let's book in your onboarding call and then you get the paperwork and everything all set up and you send that her way. If she's like, you know, I want a couple days to kind of like weigh the pros and cons of each one. You say, awesome, so let's schedule a yes, no call. So you basically have like an extra call in there from the normal setup.
Got it.
All right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's all about trying to make them very easy about the decision. Not trying to rush it, not trying to make it feel like it is a one and done meeting and then have them hesitate.
Right. That way. Yep. Yeah, yeah. And you know it like you can have a few different tiers also. You could do one that's like, I would have the onboarding fee because you do want to be able to establish the esthetic. Right. That'll serve her, represent her well and get her in front of the right people. But then I would have like a coaching package where you're just an advisor and have that be like five or six hundred dollars a month where they. She gets two calls with you a month, but she's doing everything on her own. Right. And then I would do like a basic. I would do like, like a three posts a week kind of package.
And.
Talk about do a carousel. We do a static post and then we do a video or something. And then I would do a five post a week or something like that. Like give her that kind of broad range. But whatever the M. The middle package is, recommend that one like have that be one of the best ones that she can pick. Yeah, right. Because it builds trust. You're not trying to sell her the bands. You're trying to sell her like a really solid, you know, like Toyota Highlander that's gonna, you know, check all the boxes. Right?
Yeah. Yes. Also with all of, with all the wins, I. I was talking to my roommate who then generally coaching slash, like helping manage as like within her social media. And she says that she is willing to do like a monthly subscription, like a monthly package with me. I bring if it's more about just giving her advice, giving her some time in terms of like, if she ever has videos or photos that she wants even further help of editing and stuff. But she's doing most of the posting. I don't have to worry about like any kind of scheduling and planning in that sense, but it's more of giving her that and some outreach. What would you recommend?
So I doing okay, so side opinion, doing business with people you live with, you have to be very conscious of the boundaries. Right. Because the last thing you want is her knocking on your door at six o' clock in the morning. Be like, oh my God, what do I say to this weird comment I got? You know, unless that's your relationship with her. Right. I, I would sit down with her and I would ask her, what do you want help with? We want to formalize this relationship, you know, because like, I understand you want to feel. She wants to feel energetically even about this. I bet you do this for work. I would sit down with her and say, what is it that you want to like load off? Do you want to just have someone who you can bounce ideas off of and do all this stuff? Do you want someone who can do some of these things for you? What do you want? Right. And then I would come up with a package based on that just, just because you live with her. Right. And I would get very specific about what you do and what you don't do. And I would, I would be very clear with her. The reason we're getting this specific is because we live together and we probably have like blurred lines around Stu, you know, And I would design more around the relationship and how that's going to work and, and then have like the, the deliverables as an aside.
Right, right. So far, like within the testing it out, it has been like a pretty good dynamic.
Awesome. Okay, that's really good. So, yeah, like I would, I would ask her, you know, are you looking for more just advice? You want me to do some of the stuff for you? Do you want me to do all the things for you? Because they do come in different pricing packages.
Right. I think looking for more advice and then if anything, especially when it comes with video editing and storytelling, because I think I set her up pretty well as to how she's rebranding herself online within lifestyle content, moving away from her original aesthetic. So that, that was already like pretty much worked on with within the initial time. So it's just maintenance and giving her further advice as to how she feels more comfortable about storytelling and just someone who she can creatively get feedback from about certain.
Yeah, awesome. So. So maybe it's. It's two one hour sessions per month where you both storyboard the things that she's going to be doing in the next month. And then you also look at what she's done in the past month and give her like some feet, some helpful feedback as to how she can improve it. Yeah, you know, that might be something that she'd be interested in, but she's going to be able to tell you better than I can.
Yeah, yeah.
And once she tells you, then we can figure out the pricing.
Okay, cool. Yeah, sounds good.
Awesome. All right. What other questions do we have today?
I have a question.
Yes?
I haven't. So I've been using your ClickUp template and I now have. I'm getting close to the four month mark. I mean, I have like over 90 some pieces of content on there, which is great. But I have not yet triggered the like repost readiness. So when that happens, like what do we do with it? Do we just kind of edit to make sure it's still time sensitive and just start going or like, what. What has been your approach?
Yeah, so you, you basically look at it, you edit it to make it make sense. You copy it, you paste it into LinkedIn or wherever. You can either schedule it for the future or you can post it right then. And then you go back into ClickUp and you say complete and then it should go into, you know, the four month, like dormancy cycle, for lack of a better term.
So you don't make it a posted, you make it complete and it should still show up again.
One of them, it's, it's like you, you hit the button, like whatever the, Whatever pops up. I can't remember what the exact word is. You have that and it should go into four months of dormancy.
Okay.
Yeah. And then, and then after four months, it'll add itself back into. Ready to be reposted. Yeah. But well done. Congratulations.
Yeah, I mean I was, I was looking at the numbers. I was pretty impressed with like I'm like 90 pieces of content.
Who would have thought?
I know, right?
And I'm sure this is going to happen because you talked about it before too. I'm going to look at some of those and go, what was I thinking?
I know, I know. It's so cringe when you realize, oh, God, I was so bad back then. You know, because you've gotten better like that. But that's the good side of it. So much better writing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Awesome. Cool. What other questions do we have? That's an easy one.
Okay. I have a very specific goal of getting three more clients by the end of the year. When I was on the plane to Budapest, I wrote that out and I said like that this is what I feel like I need in order to feel like I've finished the year strong. I'm struggling right now. Like the actions that I'm doing. I am posting every day. I'm serving the current paying client that I have as well as I can. I am right now currently stalled on my market research interviews. So I need it. I know I need to lift that back up off the ground. And I've been doing a bunch of these little conversations that are sort of like time wasters that I need to cut because people are reaching out to me asking for conversation conversations. So I need to figure out how to like cut those out. But I'm just looking for like what are the, what are the most important actions that I can do right now that are going to help me achieve that goal of getting three more paying clients?
Market research, market research and market research. There's no way around it. There's absolutely no way around it. Because you and I can sit here and we can guess at what they want to hear, you know, but especially since you honed in on six figure earners, like now you have to like kind of iterate your market research, ask to be more towards that.
Right, right.
Because otherwise like we're using language for, for like a bigger group when we really want to get the language for this smaller group.
Right. I did change my LinkedIn heading there.
Yeah.
Does that now read much more clearly for you?
For you, like when you look at it, your profile, can you create more space in your about section? Because I literally cannot read the first bit because it's too dense.
Say that again.
So in your about section you have a big fat paragraph.
Okay.
My eyes can't read it.
Yeah. I think that was written like way before I started ever doing coaching. So like that's like my.
Right.
So you want job background.
Yeah. So we need to change the about section to be more about your ideal clients. Right. But again, but again, market research is the first step to that.
Yeah, that's right.
Because like creating more content, doing a webinar, creating lead magnets, all that stuff. Great. Like, yes, but you can spend so much time doing that and it can absolutely flop because it's not ideal. Clients want to hear.
Okay, perfect. So, and I do agree, like my market research needs to shift now that I've own in that language.
Yeah.
So like one more follow up question. So if you look at my LinkedIn profile right now because like I don't have a website, it's the only place people will go. I am looking at it with Eyes saying, now this is confusing because I'm talking about some, like, the client that I'm helping. But I'm. I've also got, like, my company background up there, like in. In the banner. So do I need to, like, sanitize it all and make it so, like, put like, a stock coaching and consulting banner up there as opposed to, like, my company thing? Do you think that would be helpful?
I would recommend you if you can, and not get in trouble for it. I would change your background. Absolutely. Or you could do half and half. You could do Polyunity and also doing, you know, coaching.
Okay.
You know, so that way you represent both.
Right.
Other thing that's confusing is your book. An appointment is going to a Google Calendar. That doesn't tell me what I'm booking for. Am I booking about polyunity? Am I booking to find out about coaching? That's one of the reasons I really love Acuity because it does have that intake form.
Right.
You know?
Okay.
Because that way people understand what they're signing up for. Whereas right now it's just like, why am I booking? Like, booking appointment for what? You know, if someone were trying to, like, sleuth you, it doesn't give them enough clues as to, like, what they can do with you.
Right.
Right.
Okay. I hope I can change that. I think I made that when I had Premium. I don't know if I can change it now. Where I don't, but I can try.
So do you? Oh, yeah, Premium. So another thing is when you do your redo your about section, you can copy and paste the link. It won't be clickable. People will have to copy and paste it, but you can do that. And then also you can create a featured post, or you can create a post that's all about booking a call with you and then make it a featured post.
Okay.
Okay.
All right. Perfect.
Okay. Yeah. But we just. We have to. We have to tell people a little bit more blatantly who you're useful to.
Okay.
Yeah. That work?
Yeah.
Okay. But market research, the most important thing. Yeah. Cool. All right. What other questions do we have?
I think.
All right, another. Oh, go ahead.
Oh, no, mine. I hope mine is a quick question. Sorry, Yvonne, I. I'm wondering. I actually have not opened up a business credit card yet. I have an LLC that is all like, that has been made a while back. But I have. I have not jumped the gun on getting a business credit card because I wasn't so sure about, prior to this, making enough to, like, to be able to Balance, all of that. But when I think now with things starting to roll, it's like, okay, I think maybe it's time to jump. But I'm just wondering when you thought it was appropriate to create an open one.
I mean, it's up to you. It's a hundred percent up to you. I know. I know. People who don't have business credit cards, you know, they don't. They don't want to deal with, like, you know, having credit and all that stuff attached to their business because it's, like, too early for them. But also, like, if you're. If you're good at paying the balance down and only spending money on things that you know you can pay off, or if you have an investment that you just need the cash now and you know you're going to make the money back, you know, it's 100% up to you. Do you have a business bank account yet?
I don't think so.
Okay, well, you would know, because you'd have to go to the bank and, like, give them your ein. Your LLC stuff. So if you go to a bank and open up a bank account with them, typically they'll make an offer for a credit card as well.
Gotcha.
Like, and I mean, it's like, which devil do you want to dance with?
Yep, yep.
I would get this. If they offer. I would say, cool, like, which one? What are the benefits of each card? You know, will this one give me travel points when this one give me the points for this, Whatever. And what are you going to use it for? Are you a big traveler? Are you. What do you value? What do you want to, like, start getting points for? You know, you could also just get one to start building your business's credit. Right, right. It doesn't necessarily have to be something that you're planning on using. You could literally set it up to pay for your acuity account each month, and that's like 25, 30 bucks. And then you just auto pay.
Yeah.
You know, but it's 100% up to you.
Cool.
There's no. There's no. Like, this is the right way, and you must do it this way. No, that, like, this is your business. It has to work for you.
100%. Thank you.
Of course. All right, Navon.
Yeah, Mine's a super simple one, too. On your acuity page, do you have more than one thing public at a time? Like, what's your best advice there? Because I have obviously, like, a bunch of different appointment types, but the only one that's really been public Is the, you know, the sales call, basically. Do you have, like, would it be. Is it too confusing if you have more than one that's public?
I mean, I think I. Everything is private except for a generate income strategy call and the brave Biz Lab. But I also, I'm not sharing just the booking page. I'm sharing the specific link to each.
Just the links.
Yeah. But I like having everything private because, like, you know, the Internet's weird. If you Google Yvonne Lee Hawkins, like, sometimes they will land on your acuity page, you know, and people like, I. I gotta. I don't know. Like, I think the reason I started doing everything privately is because someone googled me and they're like, you realize that, like, I can book any of these things? And I was like, ew, I don't want that. So, yeah, yeah, but make everything private, especially if it has a price attached to it, because I, you know, depending on how you want to share your pricing, like, I would rather. If you're going to share your pricing, I'd rather have it be on like a landing page that builds up the need for what you're selling and then tells the price versus people just being like, wow, she charges that much per hour? No idea what she does, but that's a lot. Yeah, right. Or. Or leave it. Leave it a mystery until they get on the phone with you.
Yep.
Yeah. What other questions do we have?
And sorry, I have to drop off, but have a good worries.
Yeah, no, have a good weekend. What else? No other questions. I know we spent a lot of time this week together. This week. I totally understand.
I can't, like, I don't know what else to ask. I know. I can't think of anything specifically. I know we have our working meeting and I have some stuff to work on, but I'm looking and I'm like.
I don't really have anything.
Any questions on what I'm going to be working on either.
Cool. So. So this has come up a couple times today alone, just with some of my private clients and of course, our conversation with Jason. What I want you all to take a moment to do either today over the weekend is go through your social media, whatever, whatever platform you're using to promote your work and see how easy it is if you are a complete stranger to figure out how to book a call with you just go through and just do a really simple audit. Like, how would someone think, oh, they do this? I want to find out more about this. Let me go and book a call with them, find out how I find out more and figure out how easy it is. Right. Because we want to lubricate that whole situation. We want to make sure it's like they just like, kind of fall down, like, you know, the water slide, and they end up on your calendar. Right. If. If they're meant to be, if they're not your ideal clients, then they see, oh, this isn't for me. That's something I want you each to do because it's something that, you know, I still have to do from time to time, you know, because links change and, you know, how I describe things change. You know, my ideal clients change, my programs change. Like, you have to. You have to go through an augment and just make sure it still makes sense. That's something that I want you to do.
I think I'll have to have somebody help because obviously I think everything's perfect.
It all makes very much sense.
So you know what I mean? Like, I think I'll have to have somebody else from the outside navigate around.
Yeah, 100% that way. Yeah. Yeah. If you have a friend over for dinner, if you're out to coffee, whatever. Hey, can you just take a quick look at this? Is it obvious? 100%. Yeah. Yeah. It's like, it's like, you know, Halloween's coming. If you're. If you're involved in the haunted house and you know, the maze, like, you're gonna be like, yeah, absolutely. You know, this is easy to get out out of, like the seven year old who's been lost there for three hours and crying for their parents, like, okay, you know.
Yes.
Yeah. Mm. I hate mazes. So frustrating. I don't know why people think they're fun. I just feel trapped. I also don't like boats. I don't want to be on a boat. Like, don't get. Make me be trapped on a boat, you know? Anyway, any other questions? We can. We can also jump into main takeaways. Yeah, I think let's do that. Who wants. What's your main takeaway? Who wants to go first?
My. Oh, go ahead, Erica. Oh, thank you. I think mine is definitely making sure that what I am selling, slash promoting is more of an ease rather than a flash jump into all of it. And as well as just making sure that I understand as much as they understand what we are both getting out of it.
Yes, perfect. 100%. And who are you picking next, Erica?
I. Monica.
Thank you. My main takeaway is odd, as I feel like most of mine are. I just get stuck in my head too much. In saying things out loud and, you know, bringing things up to this group and Katie and. And everything helps. Specifically, I did. I did send message to the conference person. Tailored it. It was. It was helpful to kind of like, talk it out and figure things out. That I was like, stuck in my head and I had, like a light bulb moment and I was like, oh, okay, I know how I can ask.
Oh, awesome. What did you say?
I was just saying, like, I can help you out for future events or write a summary of the event itself, if that's a benefit for you. And then I just framed it, like, do you provide discounts or possibly for free? I know this is an odd ask, but I thought to throw that out there anyway in case it's a possibility.
I love that. I think that is awesome. Yeah. Well done.
Cool.
I love that. You already did it.
Awesome.
I just felt like I was like, if I send this, it's going to make me feel, like, so happy today.
And I did time.
Yeah. And you put yourself out there in a way that, like, even if they say no, it frames you as a good person. Love it.
Thank you.
Awesome. Jason.
I think it's the LinkedIn hygiene, like, the. Making it easy to book a call, getting the right link up there if. If I can fix that and. And then getting back on the market research train with the new ICP in mind.
Yeah. I also, you know, this struck me the other day, but you were wearing a hat and I was like, I thought he had hair. You're bald in your. In your picture, but you have hair right now.
Yeah.
That match. Can we. Can we, like, have an updated picture of you?
Yeah. Yeah. I actually hate that picture. The. But I. Yeah, I. I don't know. Like, I don't have a lot of good pictures. I have to find. I'm the least photogenic person in the world, so. But I need to find a picture that. Yes. That does that.
So do some selfies. Do it in portrait mode. Do it in soft lighting. Early morning, late afternoon, evening, you know, no light behind you, light in front, whatever. Wear like that, a color that represents your personality, you know, and have something like just have color in the background. You know, go on a walk and take a picture in the. In the afternoon. You smile directly at the camera. Like, honestly, it just has to look like you're a friendly human being.
Right.
It has to look like you. Right. So if you change your hair, like, everyone remember this. If you change your hair dramatically, like, if I were to get a pixie cut right now, I'D have to redo all of my. All of my pictures because it immediately makes it look dated.
Okay.
Versus. Oh, she let it grow or she cut it a little bit, you know? Yeah. All right. All right. Cool. Awesome. Everyone have an amazing weekend. You know where to find me if you have any questions, and I will see you next week. Bye.
Bye.
