Brave Biz Labs 2024 11 08

A Brave Biz Labs group session led by Katie McManus with participants Jason, Yvonne, and Monica. The meeting blends emotional support (somatic breathing exercise, shared reflections on grief, validation of mixed privilege and suffering) with practical small-business/community guidance (how to post on social media during crises, leaning into community-building, and actionable micro-challenges). Participants brainstorm an ideal world, surface values (compassion, honesty, shared prosperity), and identify small business actions to reflect those values. The tone alternates between comforting, candid, and action-oriented.

Oh, cancel. Hello.
Hey.
How's it going?
Good. How are you?
Oh, it's good. My computer is being weird. All right. Happy Friday.
Yeah.
What are you celebrating this week?
I thought about something funny that I'm celebrating. Yeah? Yeah. Somebody gave me a 70% off coupon to sport check this week, and I bought a shacket. It's like a shirt and a jacket. It's like a combo mix, and it's the best thing that I've ever bought. And I'm. I'm celebrating that this week. Like, I'm happy with it.
Yeah. Yeah. I love it. Do you want to model it?
I don't have it with me.
Okay.
But.
But it's. It's great. And. And it's one of those things where, like, I needed, like, a little pinch of joy this week.
Yes.
And I got it, and it was great.
Good, good. I'm very glad. Congratulations on your shacket.
Thank you.
Yes, I will expect a model of the shacket at some point when you have it nearby.
Will do.
Yeah. Hi, Monica. Hello. Hi. Sorry for the. The scheduling snafu on Wednesday. Apparently, Heartbeat didn't read that there was a time change.
Oh, okay.
So. And then I joined with Jason, and then no one else joined, and I was like, oh, everyone else must have decided that, you know, it just wasn't the day for it. So I've added all for next week on at the same day.
Oh, okay.
Yeah. You know, I don't think anyone was in the mood to talk about their businesses on Wednesday anyway. I wasn't getting that vibe from everyone I spoke to.
Yes.
But anyway, welcome. What are you celebrating today?
I am celebrating being here.
Good.
Yes, we're celebrating having you here. Yeah.
And.
Hi, Vaughn. Hello. I love your. Your office.
I'm using a green screen, so it's obnoxious if I don't have. Here, I'll show you for a second. Like, that's obnoxious.
Wait, we're just. We're not seeing it.
Oh, you're not seeing it.
Okay.
No.
Like, it's just green.
Oh, nice.
And, like, I. I'm too lazy to take it down right now, so it's better to just have a background.
Fair. Very cool. What are you celebrating today?
Making it through the week. That's all I got today.
Yeah.
A lot of emotions this week. I'm celebrating that in. In a couple hours. Jeff and I are going on a long hike out in the woods.
Good, good, good. Yeah. I. I urge you all to do something silly outside this weekend. I. I'll Share what my mother and I have decided to do. We were talking last night, and I shared a fun fact about ravens, because, you know, why not? And I mentioned that I've always wanted to make friends with crows and ravens. And she's like, I want to make friends with crows. And so we made a plan. We're gonna hang out tomorrow, and we're gonna go down the street from their house is like, the historical society in their town, and there's a bunch of crows that, like, hang out there, and we're gonna bring folding chairs and peanuts and little shiny things, and we're gonna try to make friends with the crows. And I was like, but what about the squirrels? The squirrels are gonna come. My mom's like, I'll get squirt guns. I'm gonna go to the store and get squirt guns. And we will just squirt the squirrels, and they won't eat the. The peanuts. And that'll be.
You have to video some of this because that's.
It's all going on tick tock. But yeah, so anyway. But I urge you, Whatever. Whatever, like, unhinged thing you have kind of always daydreamed about doing outside, go for it this weekend. You need it. You deserve it. You know, make it happen. Do we want to just, like, release anything that needs to be released before we get into the call today?
Let's do this.
Let's do a little somatic practice. So I want you to close your eyes. It's really hard. It's really easy to get locked up in our heads right now. So I want you to close your eyes, and I want you to bring your awareness into your breathing. You don't have to change your breathing. Just notice the oxygen going in through your nostrils, down your windpipe, into your lungs. What it feels like when your lungs expand, and what it feels like when your lungs contract and the air comes out and the difference in temperature. And I want you to do a scan of your body. I want you to just notice where you're holding tightness, where you're feeling tense. And as you notice, I want you to imagine you're just sending warm waves of love to those areas. And just notice what happens to the tension. Does it increase? Does it decrease? Does it move to somewhere else? As you focus in on the feeling, whatever's there, I want you to imagine that the love you're sending there is having a chemical reaction with whatever is in your body. And out of that chemical reaction is some tidbit of knowledge. This is a piece of knowledge that your body has been holding on to you and wanting to give to you for a really long time. It might make sense. It might be completely besides the point. Might not. Al. It also might not be in words at all. And just trust yourself to understand what it means right now. And I want you to just send a massive wave of love to your whole body. Just let it wash through you. When you're ready, I want you to take three big belly breaths, gifting oxygen to this body that carries you through your day. And come on back. What's here?
It.
All right.
I have something. And actually, Katie, you reminded me of this many years ago. Like, five, six years ago, I want to say. I remember I was going through a really hard time, and I. I was feeling guilt and shame around feeling bad because I'm like, I'm super lucky. I have a good family. I have a good job. I have all these wonderful things to be grateful for. And you reminded me that other people's suffering does not decrease my own suffering, that my own suffering is valid and that I don't need to compare it to other people's. And I think I'm reminded of that a lot this week, where even politically, people are projecting their pain on other people for a number of different reasons. And they voted in whatever way they voted because they were projecting their pain on other people.
Right.
And all of it is valid.
Yeah. Yeah.
You know, everyone has their reasons for what they did and how they. How they act. Whether it's right or wrong, it's still valid.
Yeah. Yeah. Thank you. I forgot I said that. I think I got that from the movie Ladybird.
Your moment of wisdom has stuck with me for the better part of a decade. But it's. It's so true.
Right?
And.
Yeah.
Yeah, we're allowed to be lucky, and we're allowed to be have, you know, the privilege that we have and also be upset and sad and be feeling pain, and it's not negated by other people having things more painful happened to them. Yeah. Yeah. What else came up?
I couldn't really, like, think on a specific thing because just so many thoughts are racing through. It's kind of like that meme with a dog with a fire. And I'm just sitting here like, it's okay. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. So that's where I'm at right now.
Yeah, yeah. And totally valid. Totally valid to be in it. One of the things that my therapist reminded me of Yesterday is that, you know, doing trauma work on something that just happened, they actually don't do it. It's too much. It's too much. Like, even if you were to have, like, your spouse die and you are working with a therapist, they actually are advised not to do EMDR for two to four months after the death. Right. It's just. It's too, too ever present in your body and in your mind and in your heart for it to make any difference or. Or to be helpful. It can actually cause more harm. Right. And, you know, just have so much compassion for your brain and your spirit right now that are trying to make sense of this dumpster fire, you know, and whatever the emotions are that come up, like, you know, we're told, oh, we'll just compartmentalize. Just try not to think about it. Just distract yourself. And actually, that's one of the worst things you can do because what that does is it creates trauma and creates ptsd. It creates, like, things that you later have to unpack. Right. So if you're in the room that's on fire right now, Monica, I know it's hard, and it's going to be really hard to focus on stuff and to get things done and to not focus on it, but, like, be present in that on fire room. Let the fire wash over. Feel it. Because if you don't feel it, what's going to end up happening is it's going to come back to bite you in the butt later. Yeah. Yeah. And I think a big part of the work that we do is we feel like we have to set context for all the big feelings that we're experiencing that we know our clients are experiencing. And you know what? You guys are off the hook. You don't have to. You don't have to think of anything wise. You don't have to think of anything that's going to be helpful to other people. Right now you get to sort what's going on here first and let yourself rest and grieve and rage and whatever's happening. And later you can think of something kind to say. What's coming up for you? Me, Monica. Oh, yeah.
Oh, I'm just grateful for this group, really.
Yeah.
No, I'm happy you're here and. And just want to name. I know, like, strictly speaking, BYOB gets support through Heartbeat, but if you're really struggling with this stuff right now, call me. You all have my phone number. Okay. And I'm here. And I care so much about each and every one of you. I don't want you suffering and. And being afraid or sad or anything. All alone. You get to be sad and afraid with me too. Okay. Yeah. Jason, what came up for you?
Oh, I feel helpless in a way. Like, I put some context. Like, I was at dinner with my wife last night, and. She's really hurt. Right. And then I came into the office this morning, and there's some contingents around me that, like, are actually, like, on the. The other side. Right. Like, we're. And it's. It's just this. I. It's hard because I don't know how to show up necessarily for her the way that I need to. And, like, I don't know. Like, I. I'm trying. I. I guess I just keep trying to remind myself that people aren't all good or all bad. Like, there's. There's. This is very nuanced, and. But it's. It's really hard, like, seeing people that I care about are hurt so much and feeling like I can't do anything to fix it, make it better. Like, all the shit that, like, I normally would want to do.
Yeah.
And it's hard. That's. That's my lens through it right now.
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you're spot on. You're spot on with all of it. And it is hard and. And not to jump out of this and into content, but I bet your clients are feeling the same way. You know, they're feeling helpless. Not, like, how do I support the women and the Minorities and the LGBTQ+ folks in my life and anyone who I care about who's feeling hurt right now.
Yeah.
And I also want to honor that you are showing up exactly as. As the people in your life need you to. You're just showing up and being there. You know, I think. I think often when something like this happens, those who are impacted by it at first, like, they don't need anyone to fix it right away, because you can't. If you tried it, it wouldn't land. Well. What they need is someone who's going to sit with them in the dark. And it sounds like you're doing a really beautiful job there.
Yeah, thanks.
One thing that's been going through my head lately, and this is a pathological problem that I have of finding the silver linings. Right. Which is. And sometimes that's not. But good things come out of this too. Right. One of the things I've thought about is if it had gone another way, a lot of people would have said, my job is done, and would have gone back to Sleep, politically speaking. Right. And I think it just goes to show that, like, we can't be asleep at the wheel. And I've seen, even just in the last couple days, you know, where states are ratifying women's rights within their state in order to protect women in their state, which they wouldn't have needed to, but they're doing. Right. So people are actively collecting and paying better attention. So that is one silver lining, is that people are paying attention.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I, you know, I think, like, a lot of people have moments of, like, doom spiraling. And it's like, I think of all the awful movies and TV shows that depict, you know, this going really badly, and then I start measuring it up against reality and I'm like, well, that's probably not going to happen. And that's probably not going to happen. And, like, this could happen. And also, like, looking towards history, like, what typically happens when something like this goes on is something better comes out of it. Right. You know, the French Revolution.
Yeah.
Not saying that the guillotine is going to be a good moment. I don't think that's actually going to happen. But, you know, some. Something good does come out of that where you have a comp. A country that cares about people, you know, And I genuinely think that this country is filled with people who genuinely just want a better life where they have more freedoms, where they have, you know, more money to invest in their own futures and the futures of their children. And I think this is going to reveal that this one road that people think is going to get them there is not going to be the road that gets them there. Right. And I also think that the system that we've had has been built on patriarchy and white supremacy and doesn't matter how good a person we elect, you know, it's still going to be a system that's built on patriarchy and white supremacy. Like, what can happen that's better? So I. I don't know. I have a lot of optimism for the future. I also know that our inclination as humans is when we sense a threat out there in the world, is to shrink and to hide and to not be seen and to take up as little space as possible and to not be noticed. And I know that that is the last thing we need to do that is, you know, because when you do that, you're really easy to ignore and you're really easy to push around and you're really easy to make decisions about that impacts your life. So it is our job for ourselves, for the People we love, for our clients, for our businesses to be as loud as fucking possible, to take up as much fucking space, to be as bold and bright and impossible to ignore. Because when we do that, they can't. They can't run all over us. And when we do that, we make more money. And when we have more money, we have more power. And when we have more power, we have more influence. And the more people we can get in front of, the bigger following we can amass, the more clients we can help, the more pull we have with individuals. So I know it feels like, oh, God, like, here's a stupid little business that I've started and the world is burning. And actually this business that you've been building, you know, as small as it is right now, is actually like one of the foundational bricks to building, like a brand new city, a brand new world where you get to have actually make a difference. And. And the work you do with your clients really matters. And the work you do in creating content really matters. I know it sounds really silly and, like, off Katie right now, but it really does make a difference. And just being you, just being you, not a homogenized, like, member of the flock kind of person, being you is weird and quirky and different and, you know, with your own opinions and ways of seeing things. That is what the world needs right now in every sense of it. So we want to just shake. Shake things off. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. What questions do you have today? And it can be. It can be about business. It could be about life, it could be about activism. It could be about anything. Anything is welcome right now. It can be about, like, what's the best bubble bath you could possibly make? I don't care. This is a support call for all.
The things right now, Katie, if it's okay with you, I'm going to add a link in heartbeat for a twin hearts meditation. So, you know, I do chronic healing, and I found a short one that's like 10 minutes. But one thing we do in chronic healing is we do this meditation where you're basically, you're pulling love into your body and then you're blessing the earth. But what it does, it kind of flushes you energetically. We do this before every healing that we do so that we're not putting our gunk on patients or clients. Anyway, I'll share it because I've been using it a lot this week just to, like, flush emotions. And it's. It's actually pretty powerful. So I'll put it in heartbeat if anybody wants to do it. It's just a YouTube link.
Thank you. Yes, Thank you, Yvonne.
So I guess back to the business questions.
And you.
You kind of alluded to it. It feels a little trite to just, you know, post stuff. And even I commented on somebody's post on LinkedIn. I think you actually commented on hers as well, where she's like, something to. The fact that, like, Julie noted.
Yeah. That white women are just back to business.
Back to business. Right. And. And I don't, I don't want to catastrophize and I don't want, like, I know how I'm feeling. I also don't want to, like, get trite into making it all about whatever because it's not the end of the world. Like, we, we got to carry on. So I'm a little bit, like, sensitive just about posting.
Yeah, yeah. And you're allowed to be. You're absolutely allowed to be. None of you needs to be on social media right now. You know what? You just. You don't have to be there if it's triggering for you. You don't have to be there if you don't know what to say. You don't have to be there if you are worried about being insensitive to the feelings of others. You don't have to be there. Okay. This is not normal times. Okay. You know what I'm reminded of is like when the pandemic hit and there are obviously like business coaches and influencers and people who are mid launch when the pandemic hit and when hit started hitting the fan. And the reaction to these folks who, like, literally, you had seen their. Their launches start two weeks before. You know, they were doing something through the whole month of March. As soon as shit started going wrong in the world, people started jumping on them and tearing them down, saying how insensitive it is for you to be running your business right now. You know, that's a very just human thing to do. And I think it depends. It really depends on the person who is viewing the content. You know, we're all experiencing different, different levels of grief and anger and sadness and all the stuff. Right. And some people, like, feel like they're actively at a funeral and you're showing up dressed as a clown. You're showing up with your business, like handing out pamphlets, getting people to buy your. While they're at a funeral. Other people are like, I can't go to the funeral. I need to not be there. I need to be over here and distract myself. Right. You're not going to make anyone. You're not going to make everyone happy right now. You're never going to make everyone happy. It's never going to be a reality with your business. What you get to do is like, what would you want to see right now? You know, whenever, whenever shit is going wrong in the world and you're feeling it. Like, my whole philosophy with what needs to be posted then is like, what will make you feel better, right? What would make you. What's the thing that you need to come across on your feed right now? Maybe it's nothing, you know, maybe it's someone saying, I'm so devastated, I don't even know what to say right now. But I just want you to know if you're also devastated and you don't know what to say, you're not alone. You know, I don't have words for what's going on for me. I feel powerless to protect my wife. I feel like this. I feel like this. You're allowed to share that. And also, if it feels too vulnerable and you're seeing the trolls that are coming out and you're like, I don't want any part of that. Full permission, not to. The beautiful part about being in this stage of your business is that you don't have a million followers. This is one of the reasons why it's really great that we take a while to build our following, right? Because once you have a million followers, they expect you to say something. They expect your turnaround to be lightning fast, right? And you're absolutely going to build that muscle over the next months, years, decades, until you get to that point. And you're going to be able to, at some point to have a lightning fast response to things like this. But right now you don't have to. People aren't aren't paying attention enough to notice. So as I say that, I know that's kind of a soapbox moment. Yvonne, what, what would you want to see right now?
I'm like, pictures of nature, kitten. You know, kitten videos. Stupid stuff, Very human stuff. Pictures of toddlers or videos of toddlers getting together, right? I'm thinking of one that I love, that I see every once in a while. It's like the white baby and the black baby who think they're twins, right? Like, I love that video. It's so cute. Like, you can't tell them they're not twins because. And then they go through talking, why, obviously they're twins because they have the same hair and they dress the same and they both love ponies. Or something. Right? It's like the cutest video in the world. Like, they don't even see their differences.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So maybe that's what you post.
Yeah, I gotta go find it.
Yeah, find it on TikTok and save it or on Instagram and save it as a video and upload it. Don't share it as a link. But yeah, like, if that's what you, you need to see, I bet there are people out there who, like, when they see it, they're like, ah, like, I needed to see something like this today. Right. And anyone who's upset with you sharing that, you get to delete their comment. Like, and it doesn't matter what side they're on. If they're getting upset and coming and being energetically harmful to you in this moment, in your own version of grief, they don't get to be in your comment section. You know, like, the hard thing about being liberal is that like, we hold ourselves to a higher standard. Right. And you know, that higher standard standard right now is kindness. Kindness and letting everyone have their dignity. And you get to insist on people being kind to you as well. And you get to insist on people giving you your dignity right now.
Oh, completely off topic, but I'm shocked at how many fake Keanu Reeves there are on LinkedIn because somebody named Keanu Reeves keeps commenting on my stuff and I keep reporting them.
You mean I don't have a date with Keanu Reeves tonight? Picked up my dress already now. Yeah, yeah. Does that help? I'm curious. Monica and Jason, what, what do you both need to see right now?
I guess the same as Yvonne. Just silly stuff.
Yeah.
Or just not anything.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I want to see like, badass men, like that feel manly to me showing up and being just good humans in this space. And I don't know, like, there's this version of masculinity that has like, fallen over to that, I guess the other side of the aisle. And like, I just really want, like, I really want my boys to like, understand that they can be in, in this arena and also be men. Like, and you can be gritty and you can be tough and you can be all the things that I like, like to ascribe to as a man and still show up. And that's what I, I, I don't know, I don't know where they are. But I, I, I, that's what I want to see.
Yeah.
Jason, have you seen videos of like, biker gangs protecting women outside abortion clinics?
That's what I want to See, right.
Like, people you would be surprised to. To be, you know, But I've seen videos like that of, like, really rough and tough men just showing up to be protective.
Yeah.
I agree. I think we need to see more of that.
Yeah, you said that. I'm like, oh, my God, please, please be the model of the new masculinity, the new. Be, like, kind and. And genuinely protective masculinity.
Yeah.
You know?
Yeah, Yeah. I. I'm asking this question. I don't even know what I want to see right now. I'm having a really hard time on social media right now, you know, and I teach this, you know, it's hard. Yeah. But, you know, do. Do what feels intuitive, intuitively correct for you, and that feels respectful of your own emotional experience right now. Right. What you need, what you feel compelled to share right now. If you're not in the correct emotional space for it, you don't have to do it. You know, if you see someone sharing something brave on social media, you know, you can message them and say, hey, just want to just tell you I'm here and I'm supporting you, and I loved your piece today, and I'm having a really hard time being publicly on social media right now because of all the hate. That Help. Yeah. What other questions do we have?
It's.
Okay if we don't have any more questions. And I have a little activity, and I want. I want you to think of your ideal world. I think. I want you to think of how this world functions, how everyone's treated, and it can be as detailed or vague as. As you, you know, have access to right now. What are the rules? What are the supports? And we're gonna spend about five minutes just writing this down. And don't. Don't get hung up on. Like, is this realistic? Don't get hung up on. Oh, God. I have to share this, people. You're not sharing this with anyone. Right. Unless you want to. Okay. This is your idealized version of the perfect world. Okay? So we're going to do five minutes. You can go on mute and off camera if you want to, and then we're going to come back and I'll explain the rest of the activity.
Writing rules for the perfect world.
Whatever details come to you. You know, how's the school system set up? Are there specific laws that help things function well? You know, is there a base salary that everyone just receives? You know, what's child care like? What is. What are homes like? Like, any detail that comes to. Okay, I totally forgot to Set a timer. So, final thoughts and then we'll come back. Okay, Does anyone want to share their list with the group? Yeah, Monica, I'll share.
Mine's kind of short and super silly, as usual. So back in 2016, when Pokemon Go was a thing and everybody was outside at a park or just like, literally you would go anywhere and just gatherings of people would be outside talking to each other and helping each other out, try to find where the Squirtle was, where the Magikarp was, and just, you know, not asking for anything in return. Just like, hey, go over there or don't go over there. And just really coming together and helping each other out, having, like themed parties and eating together and just people being together in person.
Yeah, I love that. I remember that it was wild in the Bay Area. Like, it was just crap on your running trail. And you're like, where did you guys come from? Yeah. Thank you. Who wants to share next?
Real quick, Monica, did you see that? There's a city in Nevada they couldn't agree on street names, so they decided to name all the streets after Pokemon Card.
I did see that.
Somewhere in Nevada. I think it's outside of Las Vegas.
Funny. Oh, my God. Who else wants to go?
Mine was fairly serious, I think, you know, I want to see a world where the principles that guide us are honesty, transparency, and compassion. And so then when I think about government, I wrote down some things. I. This wasn't my original idea, but somebody was talking about, you know, a way to fix our government is to, to vote only on single issue bills so that you can't hide policy in these 400 page, you know, bills that have these secret things hidden in them that no one ever reads. And even people in government don't know what they're passing.
Right.
I wrote moving away from national nationalism and promoting planetarianism, or as in citizenship of Earth versus citizenship of whatever country you're in, which is problematic, problematic for humans in general, but that would be an ideal world. And then I wrote down things like getting rid of maximizing for efficiency and maximizing for value, like restructuring so that communities have rights to the businesses that operate in them. So what I was thinking, right, I'm. I'm in the Seattle area. Amazon makes billions and billions of dollars, but a lot of that money doesn't get funneled back into this area. Right, Right. And I think there's, there's a limit to how much profit a company should be able to make before it pumps all that money back to its people. Right. Because it's using the local resources. Those are just, you know, some of the. It sounds a little communist, but. But right, like no one needs to be worth billions of dollars. There should be a limit or, you know, even just limiting corporate tax structure, whereas, you know, you don't get to exempt everything.
Right. Yep. Yeah. I love it. Thank you. Jason, do you want to share?
Yeah. Like, I feel like mine's half like dystopian future and half hippie commune.
Oh, good. Love it. So no judgment here.
It's.
Whatever. Whatever it is that came out, it's all good.
I wrote all humans have food, water, shelter and income. I'd love to see a world where people have time to do things they love and see the world instead of stuck doing things that they hate. People are kind and not greedy. There's like a closing of the income inequality gap. That education would be made available to people regardless of where they live or what zip code they come from. I. The values that would govern the world would be love, kindness, humility and honesty. There wouldn't be crime because those worlds, those that would be like what the world functions on. Things like addiction, abuse, suffering would go away. And yeah, that's. That would be my ideal.
Yeah. Yeah, I love it. So mine was everyone receives a base salary from the government. There's free health care, free education and retraining is available every five years. So if you're in a career and you don't like it, you can go back and get retrained for it. There are community. Community space is open for gathering at little to no cost and become cultural centers for all. It's normal for folks to have gardens with chickens and other animals that reduce waste. Very specific correction centers are focused heavily on rehab, healing and double as animal sanctuaries as well. Very healing for folks. Student housing is available and often combined with senior care facilities and daycare centers. Empathy, creative thinking and problem solving are found foundational to education. New inventions need to pass environmental impact tests before they go into heavy production. It's illegal to have more than $100 million. You must spend it locally, donate to organizations, or the government will collect it as taxes to redistribute. And all companies are partially owned by employees and their ownership must be bought out upon separation. And business success is based on on how many of their employees can afford to own homes and provide for their families. Okay, so do you notice we all had a little bit of commonality. Like Monica and I both had that community aspect and Yvonne, Jason and I all had that. That veer of communism or socialism. Like, we have more in common about what we want for the world than we have different. Right. And I want you to notice there's a part in all of these that we have impact on in our business. Right. Monica, you can create a space for people to come and nerd out on Pokemon. Right? You absolutely can. That can be absolutely part of what you do with your business. You know, it could be something that you do just for the. For the sake of it. For fun.
I was going to say that seems pointless, but I guess that's okay, right?
It doesn't have to serve a point, but if it's something that you want for the world, I guarantee you it's wanted. Right? I mean, I could. I could. I could start a chicken delivery system or chicken nonprofit. Everyone gets chickens if they want them.
Yeah, I already do a piece. So 5% of my gross profits immediately go to a local charity. Sometimes it's literally $20. Right. But it's. It is what it is. And doing it when it's small makes it easy to do when it's big.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And that can be a part. You could even have people do a pledge. You could have the companies that you work with do a pledge to do the same thing. You know, they get a discount with your services if they pledge a certain amount to different charities. Jason, how could you make a part of yours real in your business or in your. In your actions?
Actually thought about doing like, a sober 90 challenge and having part of the proceeds go to, like, Mothers against Truck Driving or something like that.
Ah, yeah, absolutely. I mean, you could have it be a, like a 50, 50 challenge where if people succeed and you have to figure out how to. How to have accountability here, but if they succeed, they're entered into a raffle, that someone gets 50% of the money and the other 50% gets donated. That would be pretty badass.
Yeah.
Yeah. Cool. So when you're feeling ready, when you're feeling like the grief has passed a little bit enough. That is your challenge to do something on this list, Some variation of it, to make it real. Because this, whatever world we want, like manifestation is. Is the same in every area. The world you want. You have to be clear about what you want. You have to be crystal clear about the details. This is what I want for the future. This is what I want. I want for me and for my community and for everyone in the world. Get really crystal clear on it and then decide what's the little itty bitty part that you can do right now. That's manifestation. Right. Decide the big picture, start working on a little bit of it. Deal. What does it feel like in this room right now?
Hopeful.
Hopeful. You feeling better in your body? Good. Okay. Why don't we do main takeaways or the energy you're going to carry on from this call. Who wants to go first?
I would say contribute to what you want to see out there. You can contribute somewhat of what you want to see out there.
Thank you, Monica. Who wants to go next?
I would also say you don't always have to add to the conversation. Like, if you truly don't have anything to say, it's okay to take a pause.
Yeah. Yep. Thank you, Yvonne. Jason.
I like what you said about sitting with people in the darkness. Like, that's something that I'll think about throughout the rest of the day.
Yeah. I want to add my takeaways. I'm so grateful that I have people like the three of you in my life. Like, you are who give me hope. And I want you to know that. Okay, now I'm gonna go cry. And I love you all. You know where to find me. And I'm serious. If you want to talk on the phone, if you want to hop on Zoom, I'm here for whatever it is that you want to. You needed to hash through. Okay? Okay. I love you all. Bye.
