BYOB Advanced Group Call 2024 04 04

Transcript of a BYOB Advanced group call (host Katie McManus) with participant Susan about Susan's coaching business, focusing on money mindset, setting financial goals, budgeting, pricing and packaging offers. Katie reviews Susan's money archetypes (Nurturer, Accumulator, Alchemist), helps calculate a monthly budget (~€9,100/month target to support desired lifestyle), audits current pricing (4-month program €2,000; 6-month program €2,400), and proposes new pricing and product strategy (6-month paid-in-full €4,000 or monthly ~€715; develop a lower-priced group/digital offer as a downsell). They also discuss client fit, payment plans, neurodivergent operating needs, and next steps/homework (update contracts/pricing, craft messaging for higher-level clients, map a potential digital course).

I have a call. You're very cute. I have a call. I'm waiting for my client to show up.
I know.
You're so cute. You want a treat? Want a treat?
Okay. I know. You're so good.
Sitting. Hey, baby. Oh.
Oh, sorry. I'm sorry. It. Hello. Hey. Hey. Sorry. You're good.
How are you?
I'm trying to get settled. Oh, Lord. As you can see. Is it just me here thus far? Yeah.
So it's funny, I had. I had three people who I was pretty sure we're gonna jump. Jump in with you. One went to one on one. One's doing a delayed start and the other one wants to stay in byb beginner for a little longer.
Oh, so you're like that you're gonna have.
Yeah, you're gonna have one on one this month. And then you'll probably have some people joining you starting in May. So take advantage. Use all this time.
Okay, cool. Let me just organize sounds. Not going to make you sick anymore.
You were bound for time.
You're all minutes.
You're all good.
And let me grab my. So I don't annoy this poor man next to me.
Are you working from home or from a workspace today?
If you can hear me. Can you hear me?
I can hear you. Can you hear me?
Yes, but not through the right thing. Oh, Lord. The technology. Yeah. So I was thinking it was going to be more than just me. So I didn't prepare. I know.
You don't have to be prepared at all. So what I was thinking, because I want, like, if you get to just get a one on one this month, let. Let's make sure you get the most out of it. So I know you really want to focus on money mindset and like applying that to your business. So we have a couple options. We can dive right into some money mindset work that isn't in the videos. That's just going to be you and me one on one. We can play with your money archetypes and how it's going to fold into your business model. We can talk about like your business strategy and really go in like full force into it so that you know exactly what you're working on for the rest of the year.
Okay.
We do all three of it.
Okay. Yeah, that all sounds good. I'm a little. No, I mean, normally I'll be home. It's just. It was one of those things when I told you the other day that I didn't remember because I didn't have it in my calendar when.
Oh, Right.
Advanced start. So I actually was already scheduled to go to this networking event, and since the networking event is in the city center, I said, okay, well, I'll just pop one. Someone has things to say. I'm gonna kick her out. She is being a.
Okay. Come on, B. Ouch.
Ouch.
Oh, my word. Okay, cool.
Okay.
So you're in the city center about to go to a networking event. Okay.
Yes. You know, it's all about putting yourself out there. So I challenge myself and for, like, the start of the new year, because I hate networking, to be honest. I'm such an introvert. I want to be home with my cats and read a book. I do not want to go and meet people. And. And I mean, I. I know there's other ways to network. I do plenty of them. I network through content. I not like meeting people through LinkedIn. But still, to some extent, nothing still replaces people meeting you face to face and having, like, a good vibe.
Yeah, yeah.
And so I. So, yeah, I've been like, fine, I'll do it. So I. I already looked it up. I was like, okay, there's a Starbucks that's open later, and it's right next to the bar that is having the event. So I was like, perfect. But I figured today was more so about. I'm such and such. This is what I do. This is what I need help with, but it's fine nonetheless.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So I took my money architect personalities, but I didn't find that there was something that really, really stood out. I found. I can't even remember the other two. The first one was the highest at 17%, and it was generous. And then there was also.
What was the name of it? Was it Nurturer?
Yes.
Okay, so Nurture was one, and then the.
The next two were like neck and neck. Like the one that. The nurturer was 17, so it's still not that high. Then the other one was. It's one where people are really good about coming up with ideas and finding money, but, like, from weird sources, basically. You've talked about it before.
The connector, The Alchemist.
Alchemist. It was Alchemist. That's what it was. And then there was one other one, and I really, really can't remember what it was, but since I said they were all really neck and neck. Yeah, it. There wasn't one that really stood out, which almost, I feel like makes it harder because how do you hack yourself when you're so many different things? It's easier if you pretty much fit the mold for one Thing and, you.
Know, so it actually, you're not going to fit the mold for any one thing that's, it's never how it's going to show up. And it'll. It'll show for. In different ways for different people. So let me see. I think I can probably look at your results from the back end here. Responses. Okay, so. When did you do it? That's Alex.
It's the same time, I think that you gave it to, oh, everyone else in the beginner group. So it was like, okay, a month ago at least. Can you look it up by my email?
Yeah, I have it right here. Okay, so you had Nurturer, Accumulator and Alchemist. Okay, yeah. Cool. Awesome.
Does that make sense to you? Does that speak to you? Because for me, and I shared it with my partner and he was like, isn't that like, doesn't really make sense? Because one minute you do accumulate, but then all of a sudden you have no more money. And accumulators seem to, like, keep bringing in me and I'm like, yeah, I know. I don't understand it either.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So Nurture, Accumulator, Alchemist, we have to also add in there adhd.
Right?
Yeah. So want to name Nurturer is going to derive, like, happiness and joy from taking care of other people and being supportive and doing that. So it's not a saving. They're usually not good at saving their own money. Like, they're good with money, but they're not good at saving their money. Your ADHD is going to come in and color all of this. Right. Because ADHD can be a little avoidant. The Alchemist can also be super avoidant when it comes to money. Right. So like, not wanting to look at it, not wanting to think about it, you know, not wanting to even talk about it.
And I didn't realize how much nor, like normal. I mean, this is all relative, but the amount of people that actually have a good sense of money. Because if you ask me how much money I have, my bank account right now, I have no idea. I just know that, you know, I'm at Starbucks and my card worked, like.
Yeah.
I mean, I know theoretically, obviously there's enough money for certain things on it, but an actual number, I really couldn't even give you a ballpark. And obviously I need to know how much money is in my account. Yeah.
So that's very common with Nurturers, connectors, alchemists and mavericks. Right. So your, your accumulator is totally, like, not their norm, but also the accumulator is not going to be the whole story.
But the irony is I have a. It's in France, so it's not exactly the same. It's like, it's like a mutual stock fund. And that I know I have €10,000 because I can't, I don't. I cannot touch it easily. So I guess maybe that's the accumulator that comes in when I cannot touch things easily. I seem to know how much is in there and where it is. Anything else? No.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, yeah, I mean, it honestly makes perfect sense for me. If you want to retake the test and see if you get the same results like that, that might be an option for you because remember, you know, it doesn't change over your life. But also if it doesn't resonate, like there might have just been some questions that you overthought and because we want to answer them in a way that like this is true, has been true for the majority of my life. Not just like this is true right now. Okay, yeah, true, but that's totally an option for you. But we can go through. I mean, but I mean, nurturers and alchemists are real, real popular archetypes for coaches. You know, because you're so good at supporting others, you want to like be there for them and you can tend to over give sometimes. That's the nurturer. And then the alchemist is so good at like seeing potential in others and communicating it and championing them. Right.
Yeah. And I, I feel like I'm always telling clients like, but I don't worry about you. You have so much like going for you. Like you're at the bottom of my list to worry about because you're great. You just need to see it. And I feel like it's really clear. But yeah, I guess, yeah. And I guess since this is such a big thing, I don't really know where to start. And I feel like I really sabotage myself. This is why I really wouldn't focus on the money is because I realized that's my problem with the business. I don't seem to have a fear of. I can't get clients. Yeah, it's that I seem to do quite good for the. I have a pretty good return on investment for the amount of work I put in. I mean, it can always be better, we can always improve, but for the most part I do pretty good compared to other people I talk to in this sphere. It's just because I don't have a goal. I know I'm not reaching my full potential. I'm kind of just like, if I get a client. But then the problem with that is that I'm not making the amount of money I want to make because I want more money for travel, I want more money for savings. I want to feel more financially secure, but I don't have an objective. But then when I try to set objectives, I start to feel sleazy. Like, that's a lot of money to ask from people who am I to kind of, you know, ask for that much money? And obviously we know I have money issues, so it goes back to that. So it's kind of. I guess, I don't really know.
Okay, so here's to start, like, yeah, okay, so here's. Here's where I want to lead us to start. We're going to start with, like, figuring out what your financial goal is, right? That's going to bring up a whole bunch of shadow work that we're going.
To work for through.
Right? It's also going to bring up, like, what needs to change about your offer, your strategy, how many clients you need to have, what systems you need to set up. And that's going to point you in the direction of, like, the shit you need to do in the business. Right? And then also, like, that. That, like, who am I to charge? That's very nurturer, very alchemist. It can also be the accumulator, because you, like, accumulators tend to be hesitant to spend money on stuff, right? Especially when it's an investment in themselves. And if you feel that way, then you're probably going to project that on everyone else, right? Like, why would you spend this money on yourself? Oh, God, I wouldn't do it. You know, And.
And that's true because it's. I mean, it's only within, I think, the last two years that I'm really, like, throwing out money, investing in my career, myself, coaching and all this. I mean, therapy. I invested because I didn't really have a choice. When you're. When you're depressive and can't get out of bed. And then they're like, yeah, you have a lot of childhood trauma and you just crack. Now it's kind of like you didn't have a choice but to give the money. But it's only recently that I started by choice, I think, really investing in myself. But the problem is, yeah, I still relate to those people and think, yeah, you're right, that's a lot of money. That's a lot of money to Pay for. So it's sometimes if I get people like me that are super, super hesitant, I don't always push. And I know other catches of troll B. But this. And I feel like already in the.
Sales, I didn't hear the sentence in there other, and then it went blank.
Yeah. So other coaches have been telling me like, I should push harder when people say it's a lot of money. I. I do to a certain extent. But at the same point, at some point when people are still in this mindset, like, oh, this is too much money, and they're not willing to spend one, you don't always know their situation. So maybe it really is like they don't have the money, then we, of course, know those people that have the money. They just think it's too much for what you're asking. So in general, I might not necessarily put enough and I let people go that maybe I could still convert into potential clients. Yeah. So that's another thing is that, like I said, for what I do now, I'm still quite surprised and pleased because I typically attract really serious people. So people who already know that they. They want this and they've been following me for a while. I get a lot of things by word of mouth. So people that have already worked. Worked, like with me, they just tell other people. So then that's the easy work. You don't really need to sell so hard because the other person has sold you.
Yeah.
It's just now getting the kind of money I want now and realizing the kind of lifestyle I want. I have money to live, but it's enough. I don't really have a strong nest egg, like, to. To fall back on, and I want to live a luxurious life. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah. Okay, cool. Well, okay. So first and fore. You don't necessarily have to push harder with certain clients. I think there's something that we'll want to look at in your sales call to make sure that you're positioning everything properly. You know, once we understand how much money you need to make and how much you need to be charging per client, we can also kind of rework your messaging so that people are prepared that it's going to be expensive. Right. And I'm. I'm a big believer that, you know, in the sales call, like, like focus more on building up the benefits of the results that they'll get if they do the work. Right. Because then it's less about them hiring a coach and spending money on a coach, and it's more about them spending money on that Thing like the thing that they want more than anything or the problem that they want to solve more than anything else in their life.
Okay, good. That's what I do. It's usually what I find. It's then just people that say, how can you guarantee this? And so what I. So what I tried to do is I tried to use the analogy of a trainer at a gym. A trainer at a gym cannot guarantee your time that you want to reach at the marathon. They will give you all the tools and the resources and tell you what you can do to be successful. But at the end of the day, you have to do the work. So that's how I try to explain it when people always want, like, you have to guarantee me that I get a job or that I change my career and I get into this thing that I've been wanting to get into or whatever it may be.
Can I give you a better line? Okay. So whenever anyone asks for a guarantee, you get to say, hey, listen, there's no way I can guarantee this. Like, I can take you to a certain point, but you have to do the work. The one way I can get, like, close to anything near a guarantee is to make sure that you have a lot of skin in the game so that you're not just signing up for this and not doing the work. So one of the ways I do that is I charge a lot of money for my work. Right. Because are you going to spend, you know, $10,000 on something and completely flake on it?
No, because people who do that, they clearly have a lot of disposable income.
Yeah.
Or.
Or like, they actually don't care, you know?
Yeah.
Like, there are some people who sign up for coaching and they never do anything with it.
I. This still baffles me. I have one person that paid me in full and never reached out. I even reached out a few times, like, hey, are you ready to get started? Nothing. And I'm like, feel like 2,500Euros is not just a drop in the bucket, but, you know, everyone does their own thing, so.
Yeah, but you know what? Some people even just signing up for something and having the option of having a resource that can help them with the thing, that's enough to make them feel less stressed out about going and finding a job.
True.
You know, I. I used to buy online courses like that. I would drop $3,000 like that if I had enough anxiety about something, and I would never actually do the course, but it was like, something that was accessible to me. It's like information Hoarding, you know, and.
Then if it flips a switch in your brain that. Okay, it unlocks something just because you now have it within your arsenal, essentially.
Exactly, exactly. So, you know, like, if that's what gets your clients to a better position or a better place, then absolutely. But also, like, if they're not showing up, that tells us that you're not necessarily charging enough.
I mean. Yeah, I was already really shocked about that. So that was another thing I thought we could do as a part of this is do an audit of what I'm offering, price wise, and then how to. And then maybe how to charge differently and how to. I think there. I think there is a better way than what I'm doing now. It's just. It's one of these things. This was what I've had for a while now, and I didn't want to change it when I wasn't sure.
Yeah, exactly.
What that butter weighs. Yeah. Hold on. Three minutes.
Wait.
Okay. How's. You see my feet? He's trying to kick me out. No worries.
Oh, you're good?
Yeah, he said in 10 minutes, so it's fine.
Oh, okay.
I just.
It's.
It's France. I'll slowly mosey on.
I thought you were in Berlin for some reason.
So I was. I used to live in Berlin. And I leave it on LinkedIn. What? One, I'm there all the time. Two, I leave it there because most clients come from there. And even if you work face like video, people still like, there's this thing in Europe. People like to know that you're still local.
Yeah, yeah.
Even though honestly, they. They never meet with me. But because I have Berlin and most of my clients come from Berlin, that they're like, oh, but you know, oh, I was at Boxy doing shopping this weekend and I'm like, yeah, how's. Like, what did you go to such and such's stand? But if I don't have it, then they think I. I'm not in the know of their circle.
Totally. Okay, cool. No, I was curious. All right, so let's start with your budget. Like, how much money you want to be making every single month? Let's just do the math. So how much money do you want to be able to save every month?
Yeah. So you see, this is also the problem. So I tried to do this because we talked about it before, where I had a. I had a sheet where I needed the minimum and you said, no, no, not the minimum. Like really your goal, your high level goal. Yeah, I can't even seem to do this. And I think that's really, that's because the money trauma is so much there that even if I try to think how much I want per month, I'll do the minimum. And then I say, okay, this is how much I need to live. But then even when I say, okay, but all this extra is for retirement. All this extra is for like, you know, investing emergency fund, like our sources. And there are directions for it to go into. It's just I then start to feel icky and I start to have this some kind of weird complex where I start to feel like I'm greedy and I shouldn't have that much money sitting in my accounts. And so I think that's already stopping me from even setting a number.
Yeah, okay, so that's your alchemist coming out a hundred percent that like, oh, like, money's bad. If I have a lot of it, I'm greedy. That makes me bad. And I don't want to be bad. I want to be good. So how can I be good and still do this? And it constantly puts you in this bind of like, this resistance to making more money.
Right?
So one of the things I'm going to ask you do is like, let's just make it up. Let's pretend you're deciding this for someone else.
Okay?
Okay. So, yes, say like you have a next door neighbor who is doing the same amount of work. She has, you know, a needy cat. She wants to travel, she wants to do all the things. How much money should she be putting aside each month in her savings?
And then I still think in terms of, even for the neighbor, like, what is logical, what is like a nice little safety thing in case something happens. It's not actually, we're gonna get there.
We're gonna get there. Don't, don't worry about it. I want you to take a deep breath around this because it's. This is not going to be the end all, be all financial plan for you. This is just an, like an interim plan to get you to a point where you trust yourself to bring in the money. This is an interim plan so that like, it can actually bring up some shit as you go for it so that we can work through it.
Okay. I would say then 200 for her general savings.
Okay, 200 savings. What are her living expensive expenses?
Again, I'll be a person that has no concept of money. I don't even know about my own savings or needs.
Average rent, where you live.
A thousand per month for the apartment. And then you have like Electricity and stuff on top of that. So then let's just say 1500 roughly. But then my partner and I, we, we split it. But we split it because I don't make that much money. At least he's nice. And in that sense we do a percentage split. Not a 50, 50 spit. Because the bastards in tech and you know, they just have to basically say I know how to code and people give them money. So.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay, cool.
So I'm just going to put a thousand and five hundred.
Okay.
So that way it's just like clean math. Like we don't have to worry about it applying to you. It's just general. How much do you does she want to have to travel each month?
I'm thinking up one time if I. And I had to do it in a way that I was like, if I was born into a rich family, what would this look like? Realistically, I would like easily $6,000. No, let's. Let's just be honest. 10,000 every year for travel.
Every year? Not every month.
No, every year. So then 10,000 over 12 months would be.
I'm just going to do a thousand.
There we go. Perfect.
Okay.
More is better. Trust me.
All right. And then what about like just going out and living life? Going out to dinner, buying clothes, buying self help books, all the things. Buying cat toy.
Yes, exactly. So that I'm not into fashion. I'm not into like so much of a stuff thing. I am a book hoarder. I'm very much a book goblin. I would buy a whole entire library if I could. So I think one time I did make a book budget that was 200amonth.
Okay, cool. So I'm gonna round up to 300 and then just like extraneous expenses. Anything that comes up. Do we want to thousand here?
Yeah. Yeah. Because then it's hard to say if we start thinking about assurance. Suspenses like what does this mean? Does this mean like if my car breaks because it's old, does this mean all of my friends birthdays? Because I'm always buying birthday and Christmas and no, we're not Christmas. We don't do Christmas anymore. We did Secret Santa because we got too big. But birthday and weddings, my God, we're at the age everyone's getting married. I don't know why people feel they need to do that. So usually, let's see, for a wedding, usually I give 200 each wedding. And I go to weddings all the time and then birthdays. This is probably, I mean probably I would need at least for all the gifts, probably. 100 per month. 200. Let's say 200 to be saved per month for the year.
Okay.
Yeah.
Cool. And then.
What else?
And then, of course, like, your own business expenses.
Oh, God. That's like all the time out the wazoo. And we never know what it is.
Yeah.
Because you see now, before you, I hired Kathleen to teach me how to get clients because I felt asking people for money and I kept giving away shit for free. And now I'm over this hump. I ask people, but I cannot seem to raise prices. And then also just running a business with ADHD is a nightmare. So I've been trying to look for resources on how to better do that. So you're a part of that then also business stuff. Like, I just hired a virtual assistant because, you know, when you have adhd, it just helps to have someone do this. Yep. Crap. Random crap. So I already know I will pay her 500 per month for the assistant and then for the other things. It's hard to say because I do random trainings here and there of things within coaching and then also business expenses. So that's probably a lot of money. So I would say so if you.
Thought it's a thousand for. For you and me working together. 500 for her.
Let's.
Let's add another thousand in there to.
Cover rules and random rules and trainings.
That you want to sign up for.
Perfect.
Okay.
Starts to make more sense why I need to charge more money. Starts to slowly make more sense.
Anything else that comes up?
Cat expenses. I have two, and I'm a crazy cat mom. One sneezes, and I go to the vet. So calculating it on our budget sheet, we paid pay about 200 per month for medicine, vet visits, and food.
Okay, cool. All right. And okay, so let's just do the math here. Anything else that we're missing, like food? Have we covered food? No, we haven't.
Oh, no, we haven't. And that's awful. So I don't cook. I hate cooking. I every now I find out it's actually an ADHD thing. None of us like cooking. So I eat out a lot, so I need a budget to be able to do that. Otherwise, I just eat PB&J at home. So it's like one extreme to the other. I'm either a feral teenager or I'm bougie and I'm going out. And. And when I say I go out, it's really bad because my partner is extra bougie. So it's like PP&J at home or Michelin star restaurants. And so let's see, one time I did put a budget and I think I easily kept going over it. So I know in groceries I already spend for my part, 200 per month just in groceries that come into the house. And then going out is also a social thing. And so it's probably. Actually here's another question too. Well, we'll just for the purpose of this exercise, let's just keep it under restaurants. Probably. I need like closer to a thousand per month for my food budget, like restaurants and groceries.
I'm going to split them. I'm going to have 200 for groceries and a thousand for restaurants.
Okay.
I'm also going to add a couple thousand to this because I think you might be overestimating with some or underestimating with some things. And I want there being a buffer because if you're only saving $200 or euros a month, that's not going to be like an emergency fund for another year.
And that, and that's another problem too is that I have this 200 that I saved per month just because this is some weird arbitrary number that I felt better about. But then another, another 100 goes into the mutual funds. Ideally I would like to of course put way more in both of these. It's just at the moment that's what I've been doing since a lot of money, as you see, goes out and then I'm not effectively charging enough so I cannot put more into those other things.
Okay, so let me just add things up. I mean it's only $9,100 or euros per month for you to be able to go out to eat, to get presents for everyone who's getting married and having birthdays. Take care of your cats. If you're paying full rent, you were buying groceries, saving 2,000, you know, euros or dollars per month or investing it, whatever, and building in a lot of the extraneous costs costs for your business. Okay, so what are you currently charging per month? If you were to break it down.
People are doing a six month program. Well, I have two. One that is a four month program and then one that is a six month program. And the four month program is €2,000. The six month program is 2,400.
Okay, cool. So let's do the math here. And we'll do the math with the six month thing.
The six month one, that's the one I try to sell the most of anyways.
Okay, so it means you're making 400amonth per client, which means that to make €9,100amonth, you'd have to have 20, 23 clients.
And I don't want that many clients. Yes.
How many clients do you want?
Ideally, I do not. This is before I thought about living bougie, but before, Before I definitely didn't want more than six. But if I'm being bougie and like, yeah, having a ton, like this much money, if we're starting to add together, I'm fine doing eight, but eight is the very max.
Okay, cool.
Well.
And so one of the things that I'm thinking about also in the back of my mind as you're talking through people who are like, that's a lot of money, is creating something that's a downsell. You know, it could either be like an intro offer and it could be like a digital course. It could be like an eight week group program that you run a couple times a year. And so if you get people on a sales call and they're not ready to work with you one on one, you can downsell them into it or it can be something that people sign up for and then they, they graduate to work with you one on one. So.
Nice.
The 9000 doesn't necessarily have to be made all by one on one clients, is my point. Yeah, right.
The bad thing, the only thing I was worried in regards to this. Totally. Right. I was just a little bit nervous on the ADHD side of things. If that then complicates too much when you have more offers, I mean, totally makes more sense bringing in things. I was just a little bit nervous about when you have too many people coming under too many different schemes. Yeah, yeah.
So. So the point, the thing here is you're marketing one thing, which is the outcome that your work gets right. When they get on a sales call with you, they're either signing up for your one on one or they're getting down sold into the other thing. You can also market the other thing and whoever signs up for, for that, that group program or that digital course, you can reach out to them and say, hey, you know, I'm so glad to have you in the digital course or, you know, in the group program, want to let you know that this is actually included in one on one if you wanted to upgrade.
Okay.
You know, and so in that point, you can either upsell them into working with you one on one if you have the need, or you can just keep them right where they are, you know, so think about, you know, is there some kind of digital course that you could put together or a group program that could be between, between three and €500, you know, and that would be a great like substitute if people can't afford to work with you one on one or if they just want to try it out first. Right. Because if it's, if it's, let's, let's just say it's smack dab in the middle, it's €400. And let's say we're trying to get 4,000 of the 9,000 from that. That's only 10 sales a month. And I don't know about you, but I spend, I'll spend €400 or dollars on a course like that, no problem. You know, and you could also do it. So instead of it being 400 paid in full, it could be like 99 or 99 Euro over four payments.
And this was my question too, because when you do an online course like this and they don't pay the next installment, does that mean that you just then block their access? Yeah. Okay.
Yeah. And a lot of the online like places where you would, you'd have it hosted, they do that automatically.
Okay.
Yeah, Yeah. The other thing is I, you're having a lot of people pay in full for your adhd, I think it'll be easier for you to have them set up. So they're paying monthly. It's not a monthly package. But the month, the payments are monthly.
Yeah.
You know, and it also helps people mentally get around a higher price. Right. Because even €800amonth, it feels a little less than, you know, 2400. Right. Coming up with that €800, like it's still a lot, but it feels a little more digestible to a lot of people.
Yeah. It's not, it's, it's a three digit number as opposed to a four digit number, so.
Yeah, exactly. So if we're, if we're trying to get 5,000amonth from your one on one and, and you're only carrying, let's say you're, you have seven clients, that's $714 a month or euros. Not that much.
No.
Especially if they're getting support to, to get a job. Right. And if we do that times six and we give them a little deal, that's, that's just 4,000 paid in full. It's not that big of a jump.
Yeah, yeah, that's true.
Yeah.
And then what do you do about. With people? Because since mine is really dependent, it's people changing their career, so it's usually a bit Longer. But nonetheless, some people do it really quick because when they sign up with me, they already know they're super motivated, they're on top of it. So. And the same with people finding jobs, rather than do the whole six months, they could then finish within four months. And then, then, then there's this idea that then maybe I don't get the rest of the money because they say, well, I've worked with you for four months, I've reached my objective. I don't continue for the rest of the other two months. Yeah, then what do you do in those kind of use cases?
It's more of a positioning of what you do with them from the very beginning. Right. So you can absolutely say, hey, listen, you know, because why do they want to change their job? You know, is it in a toxic environment? Are they working too much? Do they not enjoy what they're, what they're spending time on? You know, so you can say, hey, listen, absolutely. Like, let's. So what I do is I work with my clients for six months. Hopefully through those six months, you're getting your next job. Usually like, hopefully in like month three or four. And then we're using the remainder of the time to make sure that you are establishing yourself in that new environment in a way that, like, you are primed to get the next promotion or, or prime to grow your career in the direction you want to.
So this is how I, how. This is how I set it up now. But it's quite interesting just because it seems like some people can't even imagine and have the foresight at that point, because people tell me, no, but I just want to get a job I don't need. I'm not concerned about, you know, setting myself up for success because I really try to say, yeah, but then we work together to really set up how you want to work in this company. Your objectives for yourself, for your career. Yes, wonderful. You've got this job, but where do you want to go from here? And then people. People already. Of course, some people understand, but there's quite a bit that are already like, nope, but I just want to find a job. I don't want to think going this far forward. So then they kind of. So then they keep going back on me about pricing. What if I just pay you? Because we talk about this in installments. Since when people cannot pay in full? I give in installments. So then they say, yeah, but if already within four months, why should I pay the remainder installments? So that's why I do try to get it in full when I can. Because I've had so many of these back and forth. Well, no, I just want a job. I don't want to continue working with you after that. So I.
Those types of people, I. I would veer away from working from. Honestly, you know, I would say, hey, listen, if you have any hesitation around this, this is what I do with my clients. If you just want to get a job, then here's my course, here's the program I do. And you can even say, I do a monthly group call, you know, once a month, where you can come and get customized, you know, coaching and. And hear what everyone else is going through. And you have access to that for a year. But it's only €500, you know, because those are not your ideal clients.
Yeah, yeah.
Your ideal clients, the ones that, like, are committed to really changing things because they don't want to be in another position where they have to get another job.
Yeah. They're not trying to repeat the cycle. And I mean, it is true. And I guess that's. It's like, hashtag growth. This is what I've learned about myself as well. I mean, I'm really proud. I already turned down. There are a few people that came to me and I. I turned them down. Even they were wanting to work together. And I said, no, I just. I think we're not a good match together. And I really want to see you reach the success level and the objectives you want. And I don't feel comfortable that I can actually help you go where you want to go. And for that reason. Yeah, best of luck. So I don't seem to have problems doing that, but, yeah, it does. Maybe it is about really kind of just sticking to my guns and saying, this is probably a smarter way to sell. And if someone comes across and gives me a weird vibe, then do like I've done before. Let them go.
Yeah.
Yep.
Or down. Sell them.
Yeah.
You know. You know, that's absolutely. Your nurturer and your alchemist kind of tagging up or teaming up and. And like saying, okay, cool, here's how we're going to handle this situation. We're gonna. We're gonna cater to this person who's really just looking for the bare minimum. And. And you're not about the bare minimum. No coach is.
No, no. And if anything, I mean, because I think I told you, I don't just have adhd. I have dyslexia and dyscalcia. I have like, the whole. The whole package of neurodivergency so my, my whole thing as a coach is hand holding. I am hand holding 24 7. I don't do things for you, but I'm there so that you have me anytime you feel like you need that support. So it makes sense that yeah, at that time that I'm selling myself and pricing myself accordingly 100%.
And the fact that you're only ever going to take at most Max 8 clients at a time, it means that you're going to be so hyper available to your people.
And that's the reason too. I've already been to where I worked with 60 clients at one time. I cannot go back to this because I feel bad because I'm not giving my full attention or I'm not supporting them at the level that I think I should be. And that was my whole thing about getting away from coaching platforms and getting away from online schools and really doing my own thing.
Yeah, yeah, 100%. And you know, remember for the people who really, really want to find their career and find a path that like is going to light them up forever, they're going to be willing to pay the money and do the work.
Right.
This pricing also like it's, it's enough that you'll get business in the United States also. So we want to push the limit a little bit on the European market. But it's, it's very, it's very compatible with the American market.
Yeah, I do find because yeah, in the US we don't bat eyelashes so much about career and paying for career stuff. In Europe it's a bit harder which is why I, I've been trying more as of late to push to the UK market because they tend to be a bit more like the US So the, so I start to get more clients now from the uk It's a much easier sell and they, they're already quite career focused mindset. So.
Yeah, yeah, perfect. Okay, so that's your new pricing. You're going to do six months. The monthly payment is 715amonth. It's still a six month commitment. The paid in full is 4,000. So they get a couple hundred dollars off or a couple hundred euros off and there you go. And so we're gonna, we're gonna work on you getting up to seven clients with that. One of the things that, and then of course we're going to develop this other program in the background.
Yeah, that's a great idea because like you said, I do have a lot of people that, and that's this, is this comes with this nurture problem. Because then people come and they, they say, I don't have this money. And I resonate. And you know, like, there's some people, you know, they're just being cheap, but there's others, you know, like, they are desperate. They really don't. And then I start to give. But what happens when I give too much is I burn out because I'm giving too much. And so I really need to be. I have to figure out that how essentially not to do this.
Yeah.
Because also the bad thing is people know I do this. And it's even worse because other coaches now send people to me because they know that I give so much away for free. So they say, I can't help you, but, you know, you should sign up. Oh, and have a call with Susan. She is great. She'll give you tons of advice.
Yeah, yeah. You become the discount coach. Right. We don't want you there.
And it's not even that I'm trying to be discount, it's that. Yeah, it's this thing with money. Like, I feel bad. Like I know how it is. I mean, in the US at one time I was living in my car. Like, I know how tough life can be. So then I start to feel guilty. But at the same time, like, I'm not running a charity. Like, I, I, I don't want to be poor for the rest of my life. So.
Yeah, well, and here's the beautiful part about running a business like this is that, you know, you can build this business up to $10,000 a month. And once you do that, you can create like a special group program that is for people who are in financial difficulty, you know, for the people just like you who are living in their car and really just need to get that next job.
Yeah.
You know, but you can only do that from a grounded place when you're making enough money to really cover all of your bases and set your yourself up for financial success in the future.
Yeah, yeah, exactly. Good. Good. Yeah. I'm big about homework. So what's my homework? What do you think that, what's the first thing?
First thing, I want you to rework your online subscription and your, your contract to reflect these numbers. Okay. I want you to also go through and think about what kind of language that higher level client would have around discovering their career and really setting themselves up for success. And like, you know, how would they describe their ambitions? Right.
Okay.
And if you feel, if you feel so inclined, map out, like if you were to create a digital course, don't worry about designing right now, but map out kind of like what you'd want in there.
No. Good idea.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Do you want more homework or is that enough?
Let's start there because then we will meet again next Thursday.
Yeah.
And I have to be mindful. It's week. It's the week of my period and I'm like another human being on my period. Good.
Good to know. Yeah, yeah, I, I feel that I'm.
Actually like, I volunteered to participate in a study and it's to see actually they wanted to see how ADHD comes out with women on their period and how much the, the symptoms change. Right. So I'm doing all this where I'm tracking like how I am and I'm like, oh my God. I mean, I already knew I was a size a psycho in my period, but I really am a psycho. And I even thought like, in the future, maybe I just should not do hard work during this week. In the month since I'm. I mean, I already screamed and cried at my partner today, so he was just like, I'm gonna go back into the office. Bye.
So, yeah, so I saw a study actually yesterday about how all ADHD medication was only ever tested on men whose hormone levels just are always the same and how actually like depending on how much estrogen we have in our systems, like the ADHD medication can work, but then it just stops when there's not enough estrogen in our system. Like, it just be like, becomes completely ineffective.
And this is really interesting because too I've been testing. I was late diagnosed. So I was, I finally decided running my own business, I needed to be more efficient and focused. So I said, fine. Okay, I'm going to try some ADHD medication. I'm on the third different kind and I'm like, I don't feel like any of this shit is working. And then the psychiatrist, because that's who assigns it here in France, he's looking at me like, I don't understand. It should work. It works for everyone else. And I'm like, it really doesn't for me. I don't know. Like I. And even then I went above his dosage and I was like, fuck it. I'll just take double of what he said.
Yeah.
Nothing.
Yeah. So, yeah, I personally don't take the medication because it quiets the voices in my head that I need to be able to do my job like it has me, but not, not this work.
Yeah, yeah, exactly. So far I've not been. Please. Because I didn't find that it helped me to focus that much, and if anything, it. Yeah, I didn't really see any value that it brought, so. I don't know. We'll see going forward.
Yeah.
Okay.
Well, if you, you know, want any practices that help with you kind of managing your ADHD symptoms, like, let me know and share what works for me for a lot of my other clients. But for right now, that's where I want you to start with this.
Perfect. Good. Sounds good. We'll get started with that. Nice. We also have Brave Biz labs tomorrow. Yeah.
Yeah, we do.
Okay, well, I'll go ahead and start kind of tweaking some stuff, and then if I have questions already by tomorrow, I'll let you know. Okay.
Awesome. Cool. All right. You know where to find me. Have an amazing time at the networking thing.
Thanks.
Okay. And I'll talk to you soon.
I'll see you. Thanks again. Bye.
