Coaches- you’re off the hook from creating content today

A short YouTube monologue by Katie McManus addressing coaches upset by a recent election. She reassures them they don't have to post or respond immediately, normalizes shock and grief, models self-care (therapy, rest, hydrate, pet animals), and affirms that caring deeply is a strength while encouraging gradual action when ready.
If you're devastated about the results from yesterday's election and you offer a service and you promote your work online and you feel like you need to say something today and just can't figure out what to say, you know what, babes, you're off the hook, okay? You do not need to figure out what to say right now, okay? If it's not coming to you naturally, that means that you are still processing. It means that you are in full blown shock, grief, combination of the two, whatever. And yes, yes, you're going to want to say something at some point, of course, because you're thoughtful and you care and chances are you are surrounded by people, your ideal clients, people who follow you, your current clients who genuinely want to hear your two cents on this whole situation, this whole shit show. But it doesn't necessarily need to be today. Okay? If you haven't processed enough to be able to put it into context, to share thoughts that you feel good sharing, that is okay. That is absolutely okay. Okay. I am a very deep processor. It takes me a long time to kind of metabolize my thoughts and my feelings and understand how to like create it into something that I'm like, here, this is useful to you and I hope this makes you feel better. And I know, I know there's a lot of pressure, especially if you're in the coaching world, to like come up with the enlightened thing to say in times like this. And you know what? It's great if you can do it. It's great if your brain automatically jumps to something like that and it's also okay if it's not. It's also okay if your brain and your soul and your heart and need a few extra days, need a week, need a month. Okay? We're going through it right now and I fully, fully believe that we will be okay. Is it going to be a painful few years? Yep, it is. Can we get through it and can we make a better world on the other side? Yes, I absolutely believe we can. I'm personally going to be doing a lot of self care and processing my own emotions. I have a appointment with my therapist tomorrow. Really looking forward to that. And of course, checking in with my people, being supportive and being supported, I think that's really important. But I know I'm going to get to work. I'm going to get up and dust myself off. I'm going to identify some things that I can do that'll have impact and I'm going to get to work. But I'm not holding myself to that right now. And. And you don't have to either. All right? So be so gentle with yourself right now. I am sending you so much love and a massive hug and all the good energy. If you have a fur baby, go and pet them. I've been doing that all day. My dog is so sick of me. So is my cat. They're just like, what is wrong with this lady? Except for when I'm crying and they lick the tears off my face. Cause. Mm, salty. Eat. Drink water. Get some sleep. Wash your face. Cause you know it. Nothing makes. Makes you feel worse than when you already feel super depressed and your face is all oily and you start breaking out. No, we're not doing that to ourselves. But take care of you, all right? I love you so much. We're gonna be okay. And one final thing. The fact that you care so deeply. Okay, the fact that you are so affected by something like this happening to our country means that you have such a deep reservoir of caring, not just for yourself and for your family and for those that you know in your community, but for people you don't even know, okay? You care about the marginalized folks who are going to be impacted the most by this, okay? That is not something that can be taught. That's not something that people can just pick up throughout their life. That is something that is a deep gift. And I know it's painful in times like this. I know it's. You'd rather not even be feeling anything, but that's your gift, and that's what makes you so powerful. So, anyway, go. Take care of you. I love you. Bye.
