Okay, this is not a proud moment of mine, but I just absolutely lost it with a cold caller. And to be clear, I'm usually perfectly nice, cordial and clear with cold callers. If they call and I'm, you know, able to answer the phone, I will answer the phone, understand who they are and say, you know what, thank you so much for calling. I am not interested in this. I will never be interested in this. And please take me off your fear list. I wish you a good day. Thank you very much, goodbye. But 99.9% of the time I just reject the call. You know, rings once, goes to voicemail, they never hear back from me, I block the number and we all lived happily ever after. But just now I was trying to get some work done and I'm recording some tiktoks for you fine people on the interwebs. And mid recording I get a call coming through from Riverside, California. It's a number I do not know and I don't think I know anyone Riverside. So I reject it. And as you know, if you create content when you're recording and a call comes through, it pauses the recording. So I was mid sentence when it came through. So I had to go back and delete, delete that last little clip because I have ADHD and I forgot what I was saying. So I delete the last clip and then I start recording again and I'm Vince sentence. And again the same flipping number comes through and I reject it again and again I have to delete my last little clip and start over again. And I'm kind of thinking like, sure, two times in a row, maybe persistent, whatever. But no, this number calls a third time. So again I reject the call, have to delete the last recording and wanted to start again. And in the back of my mind I'm kind of thinking like, is this an emergency? Do I know anyone out there that like the hospital in Riverside, California would be calling me to tell me something happened? I don't think so. So for the fourth time, I start recording again and this number pops through again and I lost it. And I'm normally really nice to telemarketers, but I answered the phone with a what the fuck is your problem? And very quickly like told him to never call me again. And I did call him back after the fact to a understand what the company name is, so I will never buy from them and to be apologize for being rude and for swearing at a stranger because, you know, he may have annoyed the absolute crap out of me, but that doesn't warrant me being unkind. And my question for you is this. Why are companies training their sales staff to behave in this MANNER? It's absolutely 100% not effective. In fact, you have more of a chance of ruining a potential relationship with a potential client than you do of creating one. Like this company. I have written their name down. I won't name it here, but I will absolutely never, ever use them. And to be honest, like, if you called once, left a voicemail, I probably still wouldn't have used them, but I wouldn't be walking away from this interaction with this guy with this bad of a feeling.
