Day 1- Social to Sales 5 day Challenge

Katie McManus (business strategist and leadership coach) leads Day 1 of a five-day "Social to Sales" challenge focused on using social media to attract high-paying clients. Day 1 teaches participants how to choose a single social platform to focus on for one year — based on business type (B2B vs B2C), the visual/format fit for the service (e.g., photographers vs. copywriters), organic reach, and personal enjoyment — to avoid spreading effort too thin and burning out. The video also gives logistical instructions (answer three emailed questions to receive personalized guidance, registration link, optional paid Q&A Zoom upgrade) and the challenge schedule (daily at 11am Eastern).

I can taste yo, yo, yo, yo I can taste yo, yo, yo I can taste. Hello and good morning. I'm Katie McManus, business strategist and leadership coach. Welcome to social, to sales. The five day challenge. Today is day one. I almost held up two, but one, it is day one. And we are talking about how to get clients from social media. Now, every day of this challenge, we are going to be talking about a critical aspect of showing up on social media that will effectively get you clients. And not just like practice clients or cheap clients or beginner clients. We're talking real ass, living, breathing, high paying clients. Okay? Now today, the first step of this challenge is to figure out where in the world or which platform you should be showing up on. Take a sip of water. It's really hot here in Philadelphia today. Okay, so where should you be showing up? Now? I asked this question not because I'm like trying to get you to list all the different social media platforms that you should be beyond. We're not shooting ourselves here, okay? We are being intentional with our energy, with our attention, and being realistic about how much work we're going to consistently be able to put into our social media strategy as a beginning business. Okay? Now let me tell you, what most beginner businesses do is they look at all the social media platforms and they see everyone else who's in their field doing really cool things there and showing up in multiple places and they're like, oh, my God, I have to be doing that. I have to be doing that. I need to be on TikTok. I need to be on Instagram, I need to be on Facebook, I need to be on LinkedIn, I need to be on Clubhouse. I need to be on all the places and I have to do it all right now. Okay, Just breathe that in and breathe it out. Okay? We're not doing that. We're not doing that. Here's why. So my rule for my clients, my rule for anyone who will listen to me is you just pick one and you just pick one that you're going to commit to doing for one year. And here is why. Each social media platform requires a different strategy. Hi, Nikhil, Welcome. Let me see. Via email. Yeah, absolutely. If you shoot me a dm, then I'm happy to connect with you. But so we want to. Hold on. I lost my train of thought. So each, each social media platform requires their own strategy. Okay? If you're just starting out, you're probably also still getting to know your ideal clients. So let me, let me break this down. So say you're on LinkedIn. Your ideal clients are going to want a certain type of content from you. Right? And Nikhil, looking for a person like me to guide you? Yeah, heck yes. Send me a DM and we'll figure it out. Okay, so LinkedIn, your audience is looking for a certain type of content from you. Okay? And it's going to take you a little while to get your C legs there or your LinkedIn legs there. You're gonna have to do some trial and error. You're going to post some stuff that gets great engagement. You're also going to post stuff that just gets absolute crickets and no clients out of it. And you're going to have kind of an emotional roller coaster that's happening for LinkedIn only. Okay? Now, Instagram, your ideal clients could also be on Instagram and they are expecting a completely different set of content from you. And again, you're going to post stuff that gets great engagement, and you're going to post stuff that gets no engagement, no clients. And again, you're going to ride that emotional roller coaster. Now, here's what happens for new business owners who don't have one place figured out first is they're on these emotional roller coasters with social media and multiple platforms. So if I had like two other arms and hands, like, just imagine that's happening over here. Like, imagine you're posting, posting, you're getting engagement. All of a sudden everything goes flat and you just feel like an absolute failure. We don't want that. We don't want that. We want you just building that emotional resiliency for one platform at a time. Now, what's going to happen over a year as you dial it in, as you know what kinds of things you can post to get engagement and what kinds of things you can post to get clients. There are two separate types of posts, by the way. You are going to learn how to recover emotionally from those days where no one comments on your stuff. If you don't learn that on one platform first, here is what's going to happen. You're going to burn yourself out emotionally. You're going to think none of this is working. Scrap it all. I quit. I'm going to take a week off. And then a week turns into two weeks, and two weeks turns into a month, and a month turns into three months. And you haven't shown up anywhere on social media. And the longer you're not posting on social media, the worse it feels to go back because you've already failed at it, because you told Yourself, you were going to show up every day on TikTok and every day on Instagram and every day on LinkedIn and you haven't done it in weeks or months. So it gets so much harder to get back on that horse. Sorry, I have like a hair tickling the tip of my nose. So you need to pick one. Water. Literally. It's supposed to be up to 100 today in Philadelphia. Luna and I went to the dog park earlier this morning to get her some exercise. Hopefully that was good enough for the whole day anyway. Okay, so back to your social media strategy. You need to figure out what your business type is. Who are you serving? This goes into your niche. This also goes into the type of business you are. So are you serving individuals like is one, are you B2C, as a technical term would be, Are you serving someone who's going to buy directly from you or are you a business that helps other businesses? Okay, if you're a business who helps other businesses, more than likely LinkedIn is going to be your place. If you're serving individuals, you have, you know, a few more options that are going to be readily available. Okay, so your business type, who do you serve? Now this goes into niche. Now if you're. Let's just acknowledge one thing. Your, your ideal clients are going to be pretty much everywhere. They're going to be everywhere. Okay? So figuring out like where they like to hang out is a part of the puzzle, but more so figuring out who they are so that you know what kind of content you need to post. We're going to be going into that later, later in the five day challenge, if you haven't registered for it yet and you want to. I'm going to be putting that link in the comments once I'm done with it with this live and so you can join in for the rest of it. Now you also have to figure out what it is that you're doing. What are the problems that you solve for? Okay, there are certain, like if you're a copywriter, LinkedIn is long form writing. Okay. LinkedIn allows for you to write really long posts sometimes. So does Instagram. Like if you're putting in the captions, but you have to do a visual with it. So if you're, if you're a copywriter, LinkedIn may be like an excellent place for you to show up to showcase your work. Now say you're a photographer, obviously Instagram, TikTok, anything that's visual is going to be really great. The keys here are you want to go for the social media platforms that have organic reach, meaning it's not just your friends and connections who are seeing your stuff. Okay? That means Facebook is pretty much out. If you're looking for organic reach Facebook, you're only going to be talking to your friends and family. They already know you. You should absolutely still post, like, stuff that you're posting other places to Facebook, but it's not going to be as, as beneficial to your business getting started. Now, lastly, I want you to think about this. Where do you enjoy spending your time? Do you have fun on Instagram? Do you just love TikToks? Do you just really enjoy the community that shows up on LinkedIn? Because you, my friend, have to go and hang out in the places where you have fun. Because let me, let me just paint a picture for you. There's a party and it's hosted by people that you don't really like, and they're going to have food that you don't really enjoy and they're going to have beverages that you think suck. And it's in a place that's just like, not your place. Maybe you're just not a hot weather person. Like, I'm not a hot weather person. If you have a party outside right now, there's no way in hell that I'm going, okay, but imagine, like, there's this party and like, you're just like, dreading it. You don't want to go. This can be miserable. And then you go anyway. Like, maybe someone pressures you into it. If your business coach presses you into it and then you go and, you know, you kind of like hang out by the snack table, but, like, there's no snacks that you want to enjoy and the people there are all super annoying and you just like, you just don't fit. You're not having fun. Are people going to gravitate towards you? Are people going to see you in your little, like, grouchy huff by the snack table and think, I want to hang out with them? No. No. They're going to think, wow, what a jerk. Like, why did they bring this bad energy vibe into our party? We're going to continue having fun over there and we're going to ignore their ass, okay? It is the same on social media. If you're not having fun and genuinely enjoying being there, it shows. It comes across energetically. So you have to show up in the places that you enjoy being. And I guarantee you, your ideal clients, they're on LinkedIn, they're on Instagram, they're on TikTok. The strategy for speaking to them is going to be different, but they're there. Okay, that's it. That's it. This is. This is the step for today. So if you're watching this and you're enrolled with the challenge, I need you to go to your email, if you haven't already, and I need you to respond to the email to me answering the three questions in the email for this today's challenge. I'm going to respond to you. That is my morning. That is my morning and my afternoon. I'm getting ready for my housewarming party this evening where hopefully everyone will have an amazing time, including myself. And I'm responding to your emails. My apartment's kind of messy, but that's. That'll be in between. So I need you to go and I need you answer those questions. I'm going to respond and tell you where you should be showing up on social media. And if you're not registered for the challenge and you're wanting to get clients from social media, you can still register. It's not too late. Okay? And if you register late and you want the email from me for today to answer the questions and get my feedback, just shoot me a DM or email me once you get your confirmation. Now, if you're not wanting to be in the challenge, I invite you to still figure out what your one platform going to be. Okay, and. And let me just play devil's advocate here, okay? I'm not saying one platform forever, okay? I 100% believe that everyone should diversify where they get their leads from, where they get their clients from. But you have to find a place where you get clients from consistently for at least one year to start, so you can show yourself that you have a viable business here. If you don't have that, it's going to be really hard for you to do it a across multiple platforms. Okay? One at a time. Year one, you get one platform. Year two, you can add a second. Year three, you can add a third, and so on and so forth. And hopefully that's it because it's a lot of work anyway, Nikhil, and I hope I'm pronouncing your name correctly, I look forward to seeing your dms. For those of you who want to join the challenge who aren't in it, there's links all over my posts on wherever you're showing up right now. And I'm going to be popping the link in the comments and actually let me do that right now for a couple of them. For some reason, Streamyard If I comment on Streamyard in my comments, it doesn't show up on LinkedIn or on Twitch. It shows up on Facebook and on YouTube but nowhere else. Anyway, thank you so much for joining day one of the social to sales five day challenge. I will be back tomorrow at 11am for day two and every day of the challenge at 11am eastern time. So please tune in and if you have any questions want to join the challenge, whatever, shoot me a DM register whatever and we'd love to have you along for the ride anyway. Also you have until I think 3pm today to join the Q and A Zoom. This is a private zoom room for people who upgrade. I think it's like $37 upgrade you to ask me any question on the topic for today. Okay so if you're getting stuck you get full access there. So if you want that then DM me, send me an email, whatever and we'll get you upgraded. Okay thank you everyone. Talk to you soon and have a great weekend.
