Adam Kimmel delivers a personal monologue describing a recent professional turning point: he no longer has to chase clients, now attracts ideal clients who pay appropriate rates, and is doing mostly work he enjoys (80–90% writing about his preferred topics). This increased income improved his quality of life—his wife was able to retire, they upgraded their home and landscaping, he regained time for hobbies (saxophone, piano), and he’s nearing a critical income threshold of $10k/month that would allow hiring employees. Tone is reflective and grateful; focus is on autonomy, financial milestones, and work-life balance.

I don't chase them at all. So, I mean, for new clients and projects, I have more than I can do right now, which is allowing me to grow a little bit. They love my work. The relationships are good. These are now peers and colleagues that I've, you know, yes, they're business clients, but they're also more than that. And the ones that reach out now have allowed me to charge what I should be able to charge, whereas before, I would let the client walk all over me because I needed the revenue. Well, it's great. And I don't think it's ever. I couldn't have imagined being now where I was even six months ago. Being happier, making more, doing the things I want to do has improved really the overall quality of my life. It's allowed my wife to retire, and seeing that stress come off of her has been terrific, and it's given me more time to spend with my family. But it's great to just be able to pop over and see them in the middle of the day, go for a walk with them, and then come back and continue. I mean, every one of these income thresholds has unlocked something else I've been able to do. We've been able to really put the landscaping and the decorate the house in the way that we wanted to. I don't know, it feels like a resort back there. Now I'm a saxophone player and I also play piano a little bit. And so being able to get back to that, to pursue those kind of personal passions, it's cup filling. I mean, I'm not struggling doing work that wasn't exciting to me. I'm now able to do what I want to do. The ideal clients are now coming to me at a much higher clip, you know, and now I'm, you know, probably 80 to 90% doing writing about the exact thing that I want to write about. You know, I became an engineer to help the environment, and I'm now being able to reach hundreds of thousands of people. I'm sleeping a little bit more and I'm able to get outside a little bit more and start to be more active and exercise again. I'm very close to another critical income threshold of 10k a month that would allow me to onboard some employees. She's been in my corner the whole way. She's been a great resource, I think a friend. She would send messages throughout the week. Hey, I was thinking about you and your business, and here's a suggestion I had. It really felt like we built it together.
