I. Hello and good evening, everyone. I'm Katie McManus, business strategist and money mindset coach. Coming to you live on TikTok. Over here on my phone, on the Facebook's LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram. Coming to you to talk about dreaming bigger. And I just want to say hello, ladies. We've apparently had an executive order that gender is determined at conception, which is great because we got more girls in the club because apparent. You know, apparently the scientists say. And I actually didn't know this, okay? So I'm not like, like, in intellect shaming anyone, but apparently, like, everyone is female in the first six weeks after conception, so. Hello, ladies. Welcome to my live. So tonight is one of the series of my dream Bigger series, and we're talking about all the things that you need to do if you want to break out of your comfort zone, okay? So so often in life, we get sucked into making plans around what we think is realistic, okay? And let me just tell you, realistic is. Is a trick. Our brains love to make up realistic rules for us to follow because it keeps us safe, right? When something's realistic, it's really something that's just within our comfort zone, okay? It doesn't have a big risk, all right? And of course, like, there's realistic. Like, if you're only 5 2, you're probably not going to be an NBA basketball player, right? But if you want to work in basketball, you absolutely can. Hi, Amber. Welcome. And hi, Danny. So, like, when you're thinking about your goals for your business or your goals for your life, I want you to be very careful about that voice in your head that tells you, oh, I don't know about that. That's a little real. That's not realistic. Let's. Let's bring it down a notch, right? Because let me tell you, every single time I talk to my ideal clients or I'm on a sales call with someone, I ask them how much money they want to make, and I always get two answers, all right? So the first answer I get, and this is just always the case, is, like, what they. Their baseline, like, what they really need to make to, like, be able to survive, okay? And it's usually like kind of a meager number, like 70,000 or 50,000. It's like. It's not insignificant if you're doing a side hustle. However, it makes things very tight if you're trying to build a full time business. All right? And so they got that number out of their system. And I'm like, cool, that's great. I'm so glad to know your baseline. That's not what I wanted to know. I wanted to know how much money you want to make. Right? Because I'm a big believer that any goal you have, any dream you have is reverse engineer bowl. We can figure out how to get you from here to where you want to go, but we need to know where you want to go. Right? And so it's always funny when they come out with that second number and it's like a bigger number and their voice always gets a little quieter, like, like, this is a big secret. And I. Oh, gosh, am I really saying this? And let me tell you, the number's never insane. The number is like $250,000, $400,000, which I know sounds like a big number. But when you're, when you're building a business, if you want to make that amount of money, like it is possible, you just have to figure out how to structure the business so that it gives you that amount of money. And here's what I firmly believe about what is needed right now in our world, not just in the United States, but everywhere, is we need people who are hungry for income, who want to make really good money, and who also want to have a really powerful impact, okay? Who want to do everything they fucking can to do better, work in the world, to have a positive impact on the world. All right? And let me tell you from experience, it's really hard to have positive impact when you are living paycheck to paycheck, when you are struggling with money and when you don't know when the next, like, influx of cash is coming in. Right? So if you want to start a business, if you want to build that income to. It's one of the first steps to you actually building a business and a life where you actually get to go out and have impact. All right? Unless you, like, set this up realistically, say you actually want to run for office at some point, all right? You have to go through a whole campaign. So I have a dear family friend, Julian Cyr. He's a state senator. My dad actually ran his campaign in 2016, and he's a Democrat and he was 29 and. And, you know, just really, really smart, capable man. And. But I mean, he's a millennial. He's a millennial. He doesn't own his home. He's not married. He was A single income guy. Like, you know, he worked a full time job to campaign to win a state senator role. He had to quit everything. Right. It's really, really hard to run for office when you don't have money coming in and, you know, covering the bills and. And like, go for office and. And actually have an impact in the world. So, like, here's the beautiful thing. If you're a business owner and you set up your business so that you have the freedom and flexibility to go and run for office is like, if the business is set up, you can have someone who's set up as an operator or a manager who runs it while you go and do exciting things. All right, so two are tied together. All right. Hi, Savannah. Hello. And hi, Jeff. And hi, pal. And hi, Kevin. Welcome, everyone. So great to see you. And Isabella and Harold and Tubby. Hello. And Elijah and Steffi. Welcome. And I do love this to be interactive. So if you have any questions about building your business, about what kind of impact you want to have in the world, bring it. I want to hear and hi, Mel, Michael, welcome. So there are a few things that we need to figure out. We need to figure out when you're starting a business and you have this bigger vision of having a positive impact in the world. Okay? Hi, Tammy. Hello, Alejandro. Number one, we have to decide, what's the difference you want to make? What's the difference you want to make? What impact do you want to have in the world? Right? Do you want to end racism? I know that sounds like a big thing, but, like, do you want to work towards ending racism? Do to you want. Do you want to work towards ending hunger? Do you want to make sure that every child gets the education that they need? Do you like, the options are endless. Like, what is the thing that you care most about? Hi. Hey. Wood and Paul, welcome. And hi, Dennis. And here's the thing. Like, you don't have to need to solve the whole problem, right? Because it's really hard to do, right? You'd have to have a lot of resources. You'd have to have, you know, a brilliant mind, tons of money to be able to solve the whole problem. But even if each and every one of us picks one thing that we care a ton about and decides we're going to give as much as we can to solve this, to, like, to further the cause, here I am convinced we would live in a much better world, right? I'm convinced, like, problems would be solved so systemic societal problems would no longer be right. But here's what ends up happening is we get a little, like, overwhelmed by all the problems out there in the world. We feel like, oh, God, well, I care about this, and I care about this, and I care about this. So, like, I'm just going to try to do all of them. That doesn't really work very well, so. Hi, Cam. Hi, Truth. Hi, D. Hi, Paul. Okay, welcome, everyone. So that doesn't really work very well. So pick the one thing. Pick the one thing that you want to have impact with, right? And know that, like, you can start with a really small impact. All right, so let me just share. I'm actually starting a nonprofit. We're, like, just so close to launching, and it's called the Gay Birthday Club. And our mission is to make sure that anyone who's in the LGBTQ community who wants a birthday call on their birthday, where we sing and just, like, spread love, gets one from us, even if they don't get one from their family. Another side of this is, like, as we grow, as we fundraise, as we become known and have a larger following and. And have reach, we want to raise a ton of money to donate to more serious causes, right? To causes that are offering housing to trans youth who are, you know, furthering AIDS research, who are doing things in. In the. The world of the LGBTQ+ community, supporting them, who are. Let me see. Hold on. Hi, Deborah. Hi, Pops. Hi, Mike. Hi, Julian. Welcome. So, like, this is an example. Like this. This nonprofit that I'm starting is an example of how you can kind of start small with, like, phone calls and send and spreading love, and then you can raise money. Another, you know, vision I have for this is I would love to feature LGBTQ plus artisans on the website or on a sister website where we can sell their wares as, like, little birthday gifties. And so we're supporting, you know, artisans in the LGBTQ + community. We're spreading love, and proceeds all go to, you know, all these organizations that are having a really incredible impact in the world. You can do this too. You can 100% do something like this. All right? But it takes knowing what you want to do, right? Knowing where you want to have impact and figuring out a few things along the way. So the first thing you need to figure out is what difference you want to make in the world. All right, what's the difference? And if you're in the chat right now, I'd love. If you're watching this, please tell me what's the difference that you want to make in the world? All right, okay. The second thing you need to figure out is how are you going to set up this business to make money? You know, that's, that's kind of an important part. And by the way, if you are starting a service based business where you're offering like an intellectual service, coaching, consulting, legal services, copywriting, marketing strategy, anything, and you need help setting up the business side of that, that's what I do. So if you need any help figuring that site out, just shoot me a DM and we will figure out a time to talk. You know, I've helped a lot of business owners build from zero to multiple six figures figures. And it's, it's not easy, but I have a simple strategy and I customize it to each one of my clients so that you're not just doing, you know, the same thing everyone else is doing. That just doesn't seem to fit you. Right. It has to fit you. You're the business. Right. But again, like, we have to figure out how much money you want to make first, right? Because if you want to make a million dollars a year, you're probably not going to do that. If you have a micro kitchen or a micro bakery in your house and you're selling them in a little like shed outside the house, right? That's a beautiful little business that you can have right there. Right. But it's not going to build you to a million dollars. Now if you wanted to create like a baker's like guide in a box, you might get there. If you want to like show people how to do micro bakeries, you might be able to get there. Right? We need to figure out what is the thing that you want to do and what's the strategy that's going to get you to that financial point that you can do it. Hi, Pamela. Hi, Alison. Hi, Natalia. Hi, Erica. Welcome. Okay, now here's the big thing. Here's the big thing that a lot of people get hung up on, right? When they want to start a business and they want to have a really positive impact on the world is they have these fears that keep them from going forward. So we already talked about, like that voice is telling you, like, oh, well, is this realistic? I don't think this is realistic for you. Oh, God. Like, oh, you might put yourself out there and then they'll say no or you'll fail and like, it's just too much. So like stay within the realm of realistic. Right? That's a fear boy voice, right? That's a voice that's like, it wants to keep you in the zone of safety, right? And there's nothing wrong with the zone of safety, but the zone of safety only gets so big, right? It just, it is what it is. It keeps you at a certain income level, it keeps you at a certain impact level, you know, you just, you can't reach those, like, higher dream levels when you're in the zone of safety, right? So that's one voice of fear. You know, another fear is, like, the relationship with money. Guys, most people, even people who come from insane amounts of money, have a fucked up relationship with money, okay? I do too. I, I, when I first started my business, oh my God, I was $50,000 in debt. I had like $900 to my name and, like, things were not looking up. It was not good. And I had, you know, and it had been like a whole bunch of stuff that had gotten me there, right? Like an abusive relationship. I, you know, didn't know how credit cards worked. Like, genuinely, like, didn't really understand. Like, I figured it out after a while, but, you know, I fell victim to my own ignorance, you know, and also to the shame that we hold around money, right? Because, like, if you were raised in a world or in a family where people are like, oh, we don't talk about money. Oh, no, don't ask people. Oh, no. Like, and no one sat you down. I was like, okay, cool. Like, here's how debt works and here's how, like, you can actually save money and here's how you can invest, right? A lot of people are never taught this and they're never taught in it in a way that doesn't induce, like, some kind of level of shame in us. Like, like, oh, my God, I'm not enough, right? There's a lot of I'm not enoughness, right? The other fear that, you know, comes from this, like, shitty relationship with money is like, when you start a business, especially if you're selling a service, like that fear that you're going to charge something and, or ask for a certain level of money and someone's going to be like, you're not worth that. No way. They're gonna laugh in your face and say, like, there's no fucking way I'm paying you that, like, you think your hours worth that much? Like, get, right? I know I'm saying a lot. It's one of those days anyway, you know? And here's the thing that you need to figure out when you identify like this, this bigger impact and that bigger income that you want to have is what fear is happening for you. Right. And of course, like, I didn't list them all. There are gazillions of fears that come up when it comes to money. All right? There are a million ways. What? There are a million ways in which our brain, like, works to keep us small and to keep us, like, from actually going after what we want. And really, like, you're never going to be able to move past that and be more successful unless. Unless you figure out what those fears are. Unless you figure out where they come from. Right? Where that programming came from. Right. It's really important. If you want to solve a problem, you have to identify what the problem is first. All right? And it works the same way with fears. You know, it's one of the reasons why my battle cry is stopped being a weenie. Right? Because we're all afraid. We're all running on some kind of programming that has us be afraid of asking for money or being seen or putting ourselves out there or getting rejected. You know, all of it feels very, very heavy. And it feels like a reflection of our own worth as a human being. And I just want to remind you, you are priceless. We can't put prices on human beings. I know they did that in history and they did in a really fucked up, unethical way like that. It just doesn't work. You are the only you that there is in the world. And whatever it is that you do, whatever service you bring, and I don't care if it's like you're the best lawyer in the world or you clean fucking houses, right? Whatever it is that you do can only be done with your. Your flavor by you. That's it. And let's use the example of cleaning houses. Like, let's. Let's say you just love, like, scents. You love how, like, a different scent can change the vibe of a room, right? And so one of the things that you do when you. When you get a new client is you do a consultation with them about, like, what kind of feeling they want to experience when they enter each room. So when you go and you clean, you go and. And you pick out, like, the right essential oils and you have like this scent experience as part of what you do. Like, just imag. If that's something that you're passionate about. You know, if there's a. There's a woman on TikTok, and I'm forgetting her name, but I absolutely love her. She is a. Oh, God, I can't even think of the word. She's a landscape architect, but she does it in a way that is like friendly to the world. It conserves water. She's out of Utah. If you know who I'm Talking about on TikTok, please let me know. I'm low key, obsessed with what she does. I don't live in Utah. I don't have a yard. I don't own a home where I can like have her come and do stuff in the yard. But the passion in which, with which she does her work, that can't be replicated by someone else. Someone else can be equally passionate, but they're never going to be passionate in the same way. They're never going to approach it in the same way. They're never going to want to have the exact same impact that she's having in the world through her messaging and through her work. Right? And I want, I'm saying all this because I want to remind you that you are the same. Everything that you bring to the table, no one else can bring it to the table the exact way you do, right? When you go to start a business, it's not about proving your worth. You are priceless. Okay? Money cannot be assigned to you. What we are trying to figure out is the worth of the result you get your clients. Or if you're like a coach and you don't have control over what you do, the result your clients get by working with you. Right? That's what we're trying to figure out. It has nothing to do with your value. Right? And you know what, I always tell my clients this. You know, we're not validating your offer, we're not validating your program, we're not validating anything that has to do with you, but we're validating is that your ideal clients have a painful enough problem that they will spend money on it. And we're validating that they have enough desire for that dream outcome that they will spend money on it. That's what we're validating. And this works also with our impact, right? Like, if we look out in the world, if we're like, oh gosh, like, I have to prove that I'm useful to people. No, that's not what we do. We look out and we see who's hurting. Who can I help? You know, do we need like a low income childcare center somewhere? Great, let's do something to create that. Because there, there are moms who, and parents who can't go to work because they don't, don't have childcare that they can afford. Like, look for the problem that you can solve, right? That's all it takes. That's all it takes. Look for the problem that you can solve. Any fear that comes up is just your brain trying to keep you safe. And let me tell you, safe is boring. Safe is lame. Oh, my gosh. Let me see. Justin, you always have good insight. I was getting my haircut Monday, and my barber shop had a new person cutting hair. She asked the guy in her chair, does $20 sound fair? And I was like, girl, you're worth 25 per haircut with a hefty tip. Get paid what you're worth. 100%. I'm also so jealous of. Of people who go to barber shops who get to pay that much. Like, I don't have to get my hair cut that often. I pay a lot more than $25. So I did a live once. Oh, my God. I did a live once where I was, like, telling everyone to raise their rates, and my hairdresser joined. I was like, there we go. Like, I'm just gonna have to pay more for my next haircut. And I did. He took my advice. Love it. But, you know, good for him anyway. But you know what? Like, here we go. Like, I told him to raise his rates, and I happily paid that rate when I went back to him. Right. And all of his clients continue to pay the new rate. They were all fine. It all worked out. Justin, I'm a basic Becky for haircuts, though. I'm in and out in 20 minutes. Yeah, yeah. I like having, like, my hair blown out and, you know, all the stuff, Right. Because I obviously don't do it on my own. Um, but back to the. Back to the point, you know, like, you have permission to dream as big as you want. You have permission to, like, set your sights on a goal for your business, for the impact you want to have in the world for something personal, and go all in on it. Okay, I'm here. By giving you this permission, I don't have the right to give you this permission. You give yourself this permission, but for the sake of this live, I give you the permission to go and do it. I give you the permission to dream as big as you possibly can. I give you the permission to throw resources at it, figure out how you can make this happen. Don't get intimidated by that list of things that your mind is going to come up with. Like, well, I don't have this, and I don't have this, and I don't have this. Right? That. That is a. Again, that fear voice that wants to keep you small. But honestly, that list, part of it is, is just ludicrous. Part of it is just like, you know, people are going to hate you, they're going to be annoyed with you on Instagram, okay, whatever, you know, like, that's, that's all fear based stuff. But the rest of it is honestly just a shopping list and, and like a need to learn list, right? If you don't have, if you don't have the like, money to start a business, cool, you got to get some money. What can you do? Can you go to your neighbors and say, hey, I'm gonna rent a, a pressure washer. Can I come and pressure wash your, your patio or your driveway? You know, 200 bucks. Get the money. Like you, there are so many ways for you to go and get money, okay? If you don't know how to do something, say you want to be like an animator, you know, for like cartoons and shit. Cool. Like, and you don't have any, any training to do animation. Like, that's just a to do list. Like, you have to go and learn how to do that. If you're starting a business and you don't know how to sell. Cool. Hi. I teach people how to sell. How handy. And there are lots of mes out there, like, but you can learn how to do it. You just have to put the effort and the resources and the time into going and learning how to do it, right? That list of things that you do not have yet that like, keeps you from going after the things that you want, it's not a big obstacle. It's actually a tool that you can use to figure out what you need to do legit. Saw a dude on LinkedIn post about how he started a dog poop removal business. 90 days in and he's doing 25,000 in revenue per month. Just do it. Yeah, 100%, you know, and think about it. I actually had this idea for like high schoolers, right? Because I mean, it's something that they could do after school. Do it like an hour, an hour a day after school. They're outside. Of course it's kind of gross. But you can save up for college that way, right? You could save up. You could start like an investment portfolio that way. A hundred percent. Like, think of what the. Think of a problem out there that people have and then go figure out how you can solve it, all right? And then slap a price on it and sell that and, and then figure out how you want to leverage that into having positive impact in the world. Okay? You can do this. I swear to God, your brain is making it more complicated than it ever needs to be. Okay? If you want to do it here, here, and here's the truth of it, your brain doesn't want you to do things that are completely impossible for you. That's not how brains work. That's not how our spirits work. Our brains and our spirits only deeply desire things that are actually possible for us. If you deeply desire a loving, respectful relationship, it is possible for you. If you deeply desire to be an incredible public speaker, it is possible for you. If you deeply desire to make $25,000 a month, it is possible for you. Okay? Your brain, your brain is actually not that creative. Your brain can't come up with things to want that are completely out of the realm of possibility for you. The only reason your brain wants this, your spirit wants this, and you don't have it, is because you're letting fear run your life. And that, my friend, is a choice. And it's a choice that you can continue to invest your energy into or you can change your mind. You can change your mind right now and say, you know what, like this, this thing that I'm settling for right here, I actually don't want this. I want something more. And then go for it. It's that simple. If you're starting a business and it's a service based business where you're offering some kind of intellectual service. Hi, I'm Katie McManus. I'm a business strategist.
