Vanessa, a florist with 5-star reviews, struggles to promote her business on video. Katie McManus explains that authenticity and practice matter more than perfection, and that clear calls-to-action and posting consistently is what actually drives attention.

Katie McManus.
She says she has all 5-star reviews.
"Even if only like 50 people see your video."
Being a weird but also trying to run a luxury service based business is diabolical. My clients love me once they get to know me and my customer service is top tier. The flowers are elite. I have all 5 star reviews. I just can't get it together to promote the business. And it's so frustrating when you know you.
Okay, so why does that work? Major shout out to Vanessa, who felt awkward about promoting her business and did it anyway. I'm Katie, your practical business coach and I wanted to use this example to show you that you do not need to be perfect to promote your services online. You just have to be you and brave enough to post whatever comes out of your face hole. If you do that, you may pull a Vanessa and accidentally go viral and be loved by everyone on the Internet. Okay, that is a possibility. But also, even if you don't go viral, even if only like 50 people see your video, you're going to connect with them. They're going to be able to see just how genuine and real you are. And it doesn't have to necessarily be good so long as they feel that connection with you. And over time you will improve. Over time, if Vanessa were to practice and every single day create content and show her work and talk about her work and then make content calls to action, which I don't know if you've seen the rest of her videos, there's a really adorable one of her sitting on a stoop trying to be like, contact me. No. Oh, do this.
No.
Like this is awkward. If she were to practice, she would absolutely 100% get better at it. She'd get more comfortable. She would understand it's not necessarily cringe when you do it with conviction, but she will never get comfortable doing it if she doesn't do it. And she's already doing it. So she's taken the first step. And you, my friend, if you avoid doing video, if you avoid promoting your business and inviting people to reach out to you to book you or to buy your thing, then you're the only one holding yourself back. Okay? You're never going to get comfortable doing it and people are never going to know that you are for hire. So please, please go and watch her stuff. I will tag her in my caption and take, take a page out of her book and just post something today. Post something about your business. Post something about the work that you do. Tell people that you're for hire, even if it's awkward as fuck. Okay? And when you do send it to me, I'd love to comment and drive some traffic your way. Now, excuse me. I'm gonna go try to find out if I know anyone in Long island who I can send flowers to.
