How do you explain what you do so people actually want to hire you? Every single one of my clients has asked me this exact question over the years and here's exactly what you need to do to come up with a quick and easy intro that makes people want to hire you. And hi, I'm Katie, your practical business coach. And new business owners work with me so they can leave their corporate 9 to 5 and replace their 6 figure income by doing work that they love that actually helps people. And before we dive in, follow me for more Business strategy. Now, when someone asks you what you do, it is a golden opportunity to either get a client or get a referral. New business owners often screw this up and it costs them a ton of opportunities because they either try to explain how qualified they are by listing off all their certifications and experience, or they try to explain in painful detail a whole process of exactly how they help their clients. And the result is always the same. The person they're talking to either gets bored or confused and then they change the topic as soon as humanly possible. So how do you explain what you do so people want to hire you? You don't. Instead of explaining what you do, explain exactly who you help, what problems you solve, and what kind of results clients get by working with you. Or if you're just starting out and you haven't had any clients yet, what results are your clients wanting to get by working with you? For example, I might say mid career executives work with me to escape the corporate grind and replace their multi six figure income by starting a consulting business where they work half the amount of time. I'm not explaining that I train on marketing and sales and social media, or that I help them write their proposals to get corporate clients create webinars to launch their services, or that I help them get booked to speak because honestly, no one wants to hear about that stuff. They want to hear who I might be useful to. So let's practice. Tell me in the comments, what do you do.
