Katie McManus (business strategist and money mindset coach) outlines a repeatable copywriting business model designed to reach $150,000+ annually: sell six-month minimum retainers that include a website copy overhaul (one-time onboarding) plus ongoing monthly work—monthly content strategy calls and weekly SEO-optimized blog posts. Onboarding fees are cited at $4,000–$10,000 and monthly retainers at $2,000–$6,000; McManus gives example earnings (e.g., 4–5 clients at ~$2,000 → ~$10,000/month; 7 clients at top rates → ~$42,000/month). She also recommends shifting to an agency model to scale without excessive hours.

If you want to start a copywriting business where you're writing copy for websites that are SEO optimized and you're doing blog writing for companies and you want to make $150,000 plus per year, then listen up because I'm going to break down exactly what your package should be, what you need to be charging, how you're going to structure this whole business so that you can make a solid six figures each year. Oh, and hi, I help ADHD business owners make more money in less time with your distractions by showing you how to discover your profitable niche, design a high ticket offer that they are starving to buy, and teach you how to market and sell your services without wanting to vomit. I'm Katie McManus, business strategist and money mindset coach. So here's what you're going to do. Your clients are going to sign a contract for a six month minimum commitment to work with you every single month. You're going to sit down with them for a monthly content strategy call. In this call, you're going to get all the information that you need from them for content for the blog. You're going to understand what their goals are for the month and any big events or launches that they're going to be putting up in the next couple months. Every week you are going to write for them a weekly search engine optimized blog post that they can share on their website or that you can post for them. And of course, in the beginning of your work together, you're going to completely overhaul their website. You're going to write all the copy fresh so that it is SEO optimized so more people will discover it organically. These clients to sign up with you are going to have to pay a onboarding fee that will cover the overhaul of their website copy and that can be anywhere from 4,000 to $10,000, depending on how big the website is and also what industry they're in and what the potential earning of this website being more optimized could be. And then depending on a bunch of other factors, you're going to charge between two to six thousand dollars a month to both maintain the website and write the blog copy. Now, the monthly income potential varies widely depending on how much you're charging per month and how many clients you're taking on. So if you were to take on four to five clients a month who are paying around $2,000 a month, you'd probably make around 10,000amonth. But if you charge top dollar and have around seven clients, you can make as much as 42,000amonth. And if you wanted to grow this kind of business and really scale it, but not work insane hours, then you could absolutely do that. But you'd want to change it into an agency model. So if you're a copywriter who's just starting out, know that this is totally possible. I've helped clients build businesses just like this. I even had a client do this in just 12 hours a week because he didn't want to quit his full time job. If there's another business model that you want me to cover, or another goal that you want me to show you how to get to with your, then just pop that idea in the comments. And I'm happy to do that in my next video.
