I Challenge You!

Katie McManus lays out five weekly challenges: go on camera, land a client and raise your prices, check your bank balance, post a sales call-to-action, and say no to something that doesn't serve you. She frames fear as a nervous-system response you can retrain and pushes action over perfection.

Hello, I'm Katie McManus, business strategist and leadership coach. Happy Sunday, everyone. I'm going to keep this short. I am in the middle of a show. It is. Yeah. So many things happening. I'm in the middle of a show. But I have a commitment to keep, and that is to you, because I promise to be going live every single day in September. Today's the 25th. We have five days to go. Loving this. Now it's Sunday. We're heading into a full week, and I wanted to challenge you on something, okay? So I talk a lot about how you should stop being a weenie and start living the life that you want. And to do that, you should start a business. Now, you can think yourself in circles. You can train yourself, you can get all the certifications. If you don't actually take action, nothing's going to change. You can't think yourself into a business, okay? You can't think yourself out of being a weenie and into brave action, okay? It just doesn't work like that. You have to actually take action to make this shit happen. So I'm challenging you to do one of these five challenges this week, okay? So first and foremost, I challenge you to do video. Now, I know our comfort level with video is different across the board. So if you've never done a video where you've talked into the camera at all, then I challenge you to take a video of yourself and send it to someone. It doesn't have to be, you know, in regards to your business, it can just be you saying hi. But what this is going to do is show you that you can show up on video. You can send someone a video of yourself, and you're not going to die, okay? If you already do that, if you're already on the I make videos for. For Instagram and TikTok game, then maybe go live. Maybe ask other people to go live with you. Maybe do something that. That, like, you don't have editing control over. Do something that allows people to see you, the real you. Okay? I challenge you to do a video. Whatever. Whatever. Is that outside your comfort zone? Level A, video number two. I'm going to say this like it's easy or like it's simple. Go get a fucking client. Go get a client. Go start charging for your work. And if you already have clients, then go and get your next client. Your next client. I want you to double your prices. I want you to just demand more than you have ever demanded before and show yourself that you won't die. All this Stuff that we're talking about when we talk about stopping a weenie and start being brave, we're basically just retraining our nervous systems that we can ask for what we want and not be completely rejected by our tribe. Okay? So go and get a client. Charge more than you've charged before. Go and do it. Okay, Number three, this is going to be a scary one for a lot of people. Go and check your money. Go and check your money. Go check your bank balances. Go check your credit card balances. Go and see how much money you have and don't have. Okay? Go and inform yourself as to what is going on here. Because I can tell you from experience with my clients, you can reverse engineer any goal you want, but you need to know the numbers first. Okay? You're not going to trip and fall and land on a $500,000 a year business. You have to reverse engineer it. We have a large dog down our street and Luna likes to bark at it through the window. Anyway, go and look at your money first because here's the thing. If you're wanting to build your business to $500,000 a year in three years and you're hoping to hit 100,000 next year in revenue and pay off some debt, you need to know how much debt you need to pay off, okay? You also need to know how much more money you can reinvest into the business. Okay? You can't grow this business without knowing your money, okay? I know it's from experience. Okay? Number four, post about your business. Post something super salesy and cheesy about your business. Post something that invites people to book a call. Post something that tells people what you're up to. Okay? Whatever. Whatever level of your business you're in, go and do that, okay? And number five, you're going to quit something that is no longer serving you. You're going to start saying no to stuff. And this week you're only going to say no to one thing. And it could be. Could be like a friend asks you out to dinner and you're like, just don't see that in my journey today. Or it could be like a committee that you're a chairperson on reaches out to you and asks you to take on a big project and you get to say no. No, I don't have the bandwidth for that, you know? But I think Doris does. You can volunteer Doris to do it. She can say no, too. She's in full, full autonomy of her life. Okay? So this is your week. I want you to do one of these challenges. Okay? So do video, like challenge yourself with video. If you're. If it's going live, if it's videoing yourself for the very first time, I want you to go and do that. Number two, I want you to go and get a client or. Or sell your services that for more than you ever have before. Okay? Number three, I want you to check your money. Check all of your balances. Now, when you do this, I want you to have gratitude in your heart. I want you to be grateful for whatever is there and isn't there. Okay? I want you to imagine that this bank account that lives in the virtual, you know, ecostruxure. Is that even a word? I'm very tired today. I want you to imagine that it's really just like this massive, like Harry Potter cavern in Gringott's bank. And whatever money is there is just sitting in the corner. But there's so much space for you to fill up. Like it's just waiting for you to fill it up with all this wealth. Okay? So I want you to check your money with gratitude. Four, I want you to post about your business. Post about your business. Don't worry about being salesy. Don't be worried about being interface. People can't hire you and give you their money if they don't know that you are first, that you're selling your services. I almost said for sale. That's not what I meant. Number five. Say no. Say, say no to something that just doesn't serve you, doesn't serve your energy. It's not something that you want to do that day. Just say no. Okay? And with that, have an amazing rest of your Sunday. I will be going live with a longer live format tomorrow and doing our normal thing this week. And I wish you all the luck in starting your week and I hope it's an amazing week for you. Anyway, I'm Katie McManus, business strategist and leadership coach. Thank you for joining. I'm going to get back to my show and thank you for being with me in my 30 days of going live in September. Anyway, I will see you tomorrow and have an amazing night. Bye.
