If you’re serious about starting a business, leaving your corporate job and replacing your 6-figure

Won't my clients think it's weird that I have a full time job? This is part four of my seven part series of how to start a business on the side of your 9 to 5. Most of my clients work with me so that they can start a business while they're still full time employed and that has its challenges. I've done other videos explaining how you can handle this on the work side, but how do you explain your full time job to a paying client? And how do you manage to work with clients if you're also working a 9 to 5? It all comes down to strategy and setting the correct expectations. Now let's say you're doing fractional consulting for a company, which means you need to work with your clients during their workday and that can be hard, especially if you're working 9 to 5 in your own job. But the simple way around this is you want to target clients in a different time zone. So for example, if you're on the east coast then you want to plan on doing client work from 5 to 8pm for clients on the west coast which would be there 2pm to 5pm and if you're on the west coast then you want to plan on doing client work from 6am to 9am which would be your East coast clients 9am to 12pm it's pretty simple and it's even easier if you're working directly with individuals because you just tell them that you take all your work calls in the evening. And finally you want to set really clear expectations around response times and turnaround times for projects. Set an autoresponder on your business email that explains that your Response time is 24 to 48 hours. And if you're doing project work for your clients and you have deliverables, then make sure that you give yourself a solid buffer so that you have enough time to get things done and aren't stressed out about it. That way you won't be stressed out around a self created deadline and you won't have any unhappy clients. And just remember, it's only weird if you make it weird.
