I’m a bit offended that no one’s asked me about how often i think about the Roman Empire… cause its

Katie McManus on her ADHD brain's obsession with Rome. Roman concrete still stands because it heals itself with lime and calcium. Cacio e pepe started as a workman's lunch. Forks didn't catch on in Europe until after Rome fell.

So I'm not a man, but I do have adhd.
And I can tell you, having adhd, I get hyper focused on the most random shit. And I'm seeing everyone asking all these men how often they think of the Roman Empire.
Excuse me, what about me? I think about it all the time. And part of it is because I.
Love visiting Rome, and I think I love visiting Rome because I have adhd.
And you may be wondering, what does that have to do.
ADHD doesn't have anything to do with Rome. Well, let me tell you, when you're in Rome and you're going around and you're doing touristy things and you're eating food and you're looking at architecture, there are so many. Any random details that will just scratch.
That part of your brain that just.
Loves connect, collecting all these factoids and it's amazing. Like, do you know about Roman cement? Get ready. This is wild. Okay, so the cement that we have today degrades after about 20 years.
All right? But let's look at some of the architecture. Some of the buildings that the Romans made 2,000 years ago, okay? They were made of cement. Okay. The Romans figured out how to make cement, healing cement. They mixed a very roughly ground lime.
In with their cement.
So literally, when there's a crack and the water comes through, the lime will release all this calcium and it binds itself. So it actually becomes stronger over time. And pasta, if you've ever been to Rome or been to like a Roman.
Italian restaurant, you know what caucia e pepe is? So it's pasta with parmesan and pepper.
And it's just. It's really nice, very rich. And this used to be made like in a towel.
This used to be like the workman's lunch.
So the wives would make the pasta.
And then they would just put, you know, cheese on top and then they would wrap it up and send them on their way.
So they would literally just eat it.
Like a brick of noodles at lunchtime. And also, this has nothing to do with Roman Empire, but it makes me so happy. Forks, okay? Forks used to not be a thing. Okay.
The whole of Europe, this is way.
After the Roman Empire. The whole of Europe was anti fork, except for like the French who really liked it because it helped them from, like splattering food on their clothes because.
They were a fan, and the Italians because they had the noodles and they had to do the twirly.
Twirly.
But yeah, so ask women, also ask.
Women with ADHD how often they think of the Roman Empire. Because the Roman Empire is incredible. Like, there's just so many interesting factoids. And if you know any factoids, I want to hear them in the comments. And also to some of you dudes out there who are convincing the Roman.
Empire with the Holy Roman Empire.
Yeah, they're very separate things.
They're about 1200 years apart.
Stop confusing the two. Oh, and hi, I help ADHD business owners make more money in less time with fewer distractions, which is ironic after this video. I'm Katie McManus, business strategist and money mindset coach. And actually, when you think about it, if you have a business that makes more money in less time, you actually have more time for the distractions you enjoy.
