Katie McManus uses a personal anecdote about confusing actors Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes to illustrate a business lesson: when a company offers multiple, insufficiently differentiated products/services, buyers become confused and fail to decide. She describes symptoms (prospects saying both offers sound good, needing to think about it on sales calls) and prescribes remedies (simplify offers or make them clearly distinct). She introduces herself as a practical business coach who helps new business owners replace six-figure corporate incomes and includes a call-to-action to follow and share.

So I've spent the majority of my adult life thinking that Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson were the same exact person. And honestly, it wasn't until I saw Schindler's List a few years ago and they were both in it. And even in the first half of the movie I'm watching it and I'm like, I didn't think this had like a psychotic, like, dual personality kind of element to it. I thought this was just, I mean, it was a movie about the Holocaust. But then halfway through the movie I realized, oh, they're different people. And it all clicked. And I bring this up because it's a great example of if you're a business owner and you have more than one offer, you need to make sure that each offer is distinct and different enough that people don't confuse the two like I did with Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes. Because the truth is, a confused buyer doesn't buy. And if your ideal client is at all confused about which program they should sign up for or which one's going to be the best help for them, they're just not going to buy from you. And how you can tell this is going on in your business is if you have multiple offers and if you get on sales calls regularly and people are like, they both sound great or they both sound interesting, I need to think about which one's going to be the best. And then they just do not make a decision. They tell you they're going to think about it and that they'll get back to you. And they never do. When a business owner realizes that this is happening, that's usually when they come to someone like me, because they need to figure out something. How they simplify the multiple offers they have into one, or how they decide to split them and make them so distinctly different that they're able to market each one of them without confusing their clients. And the result is typically that they actually start making money in their business and get to help clients. So moral of the story is you don't want a Liam Neeson and a Ralph Fiennes kind of dynamic going on in your business. What you want is a Liam Neeson and like a Sofia Vergara, something completely different so that your clients know exactly what, what they need to sign up for. And I'm Katie, your practical business coach. And new business owners work with me so that they can leave their corporate 9 to 5 and replace their 6 figure income by doing work that they love. And if you want to help more business owners see this, then please engage from the top up. Follow me for more, and send this to someone that you know needs to hear it.
