Welcome to the Missing link. I'm Katie McManus, and this video is all about your success mindset. Because if you do everything in this program and you don't have the right mindset, it's not going to work for you. So first and foremost, we need to let go of perfectionism. I know I have a lot of perfectionists in my world, and I get it. You're usually really good at things right away, okay? That's a neurodiverse thing. That is a smart people thing. But let me tell you, there's no such thing as perfect. It does not exist. It is a myth. It is something that your brain tells you to strive for so that it can keep you safe. Because if you're always waiting for something to be perfect and perfect does not exist before you put it into the world, guess what? You're never gonna put it into the world. So we're gonna let go of perfectionism, okay? We are going to lean fully into doing things imperfectly, okay? So that is the first thing we want to let go of. The second thing we want to let go of is this need for immediate gratification, okay? I know how tempting it is when you post something and you keep refreshing and refreshing and refreshing, and you keep looking for comments and likes, and then they don't come, and it feels so gross. I also know what it feels like when you post something that you think is so incredible that is obviously going to get a gazillion people to come and want to sign up with you and pay you money for your work, and you get crickets. So just know that this is not a gumball machine, okay? LinkedIn is not one quarter in and one gumball out. Sometimes it's 17 quarters in before you get a single gumball. But guess what? Doesn't mean that those first 16 quarters weren't worth anything, okay? You are focusing on building relationships, building trust. That does not happen with just one post, okay? That happens over time. All right? The. The third thing we want to let go of is this desire to go viral, okay? We are not focusing on vanity metrics. What we are worried about is connecting with your ideal clients and attracting them to work with you. That's it. And the fourth thing I want to cover is you're going to be afraid of pissing people off. And I just want you to know, a. The people who don't belong in your world, if they get pissed off, it really doesn't matter, all right? If they're not aligned to the same values, it really won't have any impact on your business because your clients will feel aligned. If you ever say anything that comes across the wrong way, just know that you have complete power to apologize. Apologize, to own it, to change it, to delete it, if you so wish, all right? There's gonna be that voice in your head that's like, oh, my God, this is too risky. You can't say that. If you ever bump up against something that you're just, like, not sure of, you don't have to post it, all right? You have complete control here, all right? But we don't want to let fear control what we're doing and how we're showing up. What we are going to focus on with our mindset is focusing on learning, okay? This is not the learning that you did in school where you had to get it perfect on the first try. This is the kind of learning that you have to devote yourself to if you want to be a successful entrepreneur. You have to constantly be willing to learn and to try and to do something shitty before you can do it really, really well, all right? So I want you to be fully committed to just trying it and doing it and putting it out there, all right? And just seeing what works, okay? What works for you probably won't be exactly what works for someone else, all right? And for you to figure out what that is, you're gonna have to just try it and do it and see what the results are, okay? So be willing to learn out loud. The second thing we want to focus on is making connections with real, living, breathing humans. All right? This is a long game. What we're doing here on LinkedIn is we're building a community of human beings who genuinely give a fuck about you. And those people, some of them may be your ideal clients, and they may see your content and be like, oh, my God, I've been waiting for someone to help me with this problem. They also might not be. They might just be someone who connects with you on a lot of other things. And when they see your content about your business, they are so excited to support you that they show up in your comments, they like your posts, and they may even refer people to come and work with you. How LinkedIn works is it's basically like a bunch of connected spider webs, all right? So when you have enough ties to enough other spider webs that have connections to other spider webs, the posts that you put out there basically create all these vibrations that bring all those other stranger spiders into your world. And if you're afraid of spiders, I apologize for this metaphor. All right, so we're focusing on creating connections, connections with real people. The third thing I want you to focus on are what are your bigger goals? Like, how much money do you want to be making per year? How many clients do you want to attract? What is the vision for your life? When your business is fully successful and you have this system working to your advantage, Right? When you're focused on that bigger prize, it's easier for you to get through the struggle of showing up every single day. The fourth thing I want you to really focus on is your commitment to the long game, okay? If you're looking for an overnight fix, this is not going to be that. This is something that you're not going to see results for a little while, and that is normal, okay? I just want to set that expectation here. It is normal to not go viral overnight. It is normal to not get a client right away. It is normal to not grow your following by tens of thousands of people, all right? This is a stupid, slow, but sustainable system, okay? It's probably the least sexy thing you're going to learn, but it is effective in the long game, okay? So we need to be committed. And last but not least, to be committed, you have to be consistent, okay? So even when it feels like, oh, this is a slog and this isn't working, I want you to continue to show up. Because there is a good chunk of time when you first start a process like this where you don't see any results right away. And what. What you have to do is you have to be committed to having faith that it is working, okay? Showing up always works. I want you to think about how many billions of people there are in the world right now who have no idea that you exist. If you can consistently show up and put yourself out there and post content and engage on other people's content and just get your name in front of more people, that is, more people who are your potential new clients, who are potential new referrers to work with you. There are so many opportunities that you are missing out on by not showing up consistently. So if you can commit to being consistent with this, I promise you, you are going to be happy at the end of the day.
