No one can hire you if they dont underatand what you do… so heres how you make it clear

A short YouTube monologue by Katie McManus advising coaches and business strategists—especially those serving ADHD entrepreneurs—how to communicate their value clearly. She recommends leading with a concise, benefit-focused statement (a "high-utility" phrase) that names the ideal client, the positive outcome, and the negative outcomes avoided, rather than starting with professional titles.
Did you know that no one cares what kind of coach you are? I hear this all the time, Katie. Am I a life coach? Am I an executive coach? Am I a leadership coach? Am I something else coach? And everyone's always flipped out when I say that. It really doesn't matter because there's no standard definitions for any of those terms. So the people that you're talking to, your potential clients, have no idea what you're talking about when you use any of these terms. So how do you tell people what you do? Hi. I help ADHD business owners make more money in less time with fewer distractions. I'm Katie McManus, business strategist and money mindset coach. And actually, right there, I just did it. I didn't start with my title. I started off with telling you how I'm useful to you, how you. So instead of getting all flipped out about what you should call yourself, I want you to figure out your high UD phrase. So when we're trying to figure out a high yuty phrase, we have to figure out first and foremost, who's the you that you're talking to. For me, it's ADHD business owners. And actually, I could get a little more specific there because I don't help people start restaurants or do retail or do MLMs, because I think those are gross. I really only work with people who are offering some kind of service. So figure this out for yourself. Who are you useful to? Then we have to figure out what is it that you help them achieve and what is it that you help them avoid. Now, in my statement, I very clearly say that I help people make more money and in less time with fewer distractions. So the positive outcome of working with me is that people make more money and the bad things that they avoid is wasting time and getting distracted. So let's figure this out for your business. Okay, so what is the positive outcome that people can get if they work with you, and what are the negative things that they'll avoid if they commit to working with you? And then I personally do use a business title to kind of indicate what it is that I do with my clients that helps them be so successful, and that is business strategist and money mindset coach. But mostly, no one's really going to remember that. They're going to remember that I help ADHD business owners make more money in less time with fewer distractions. Because ultimately, when we create content for social media, we're not just talking to our ideal clients. We're talking to their best friends, their neighbors, their mothers. And you know what our ideal clients are complaining about to these people? Not that they need an executive coach or a leadership coach or a business strategist. They no, they're complaining about the things that they're struggling with and the things that they want more than anything, and how hard it is to get there. So, for instance, my ideal clients are talking about how they're so distracted all the time while they're trying to build their business, and how their ADHD is really getting in the way. So ideally, anyone who knows my high UD can refer me to them like and follow me for more ADHD business tips.
