Redo Day 3- Social To Sales 5 Day Challenge

Katie McManus (business strategist and leadership coach) leads Day 3 of a five-day "Social to Sales" challenge focused on converting social media engagement into paying clients. This session teaches the role and structure of effective calls to action (CTAs): make them simple, singular (one CTA at a time), explicit about the next step and the booking/process, and frame them as invitations rather than aggressive asks. Katie uses real-life analogies (meeting someone at a coffee shop; buying a banana) and provides practical takeaways: be forward, keep CTAs simple and clear, explain the process, and include one CTA in posts during the week.

Hello, I'm Katie McManus, business strategist and leadership coach. We are redoing the day three Live for Social to Sales, the five day challenge showing you how you can get high paying clients from social media. I'm learning. I just switched to Restream from Streamyard and for whatever reason I can't figure it out. Restream has the worst audio. Every time I feel like 50% of the time that I'm going live on there, the audio is just garbled and garbagey and not good. And so Streamyard I've never had this problem with. I just did a little tester and people commented in the comments saying that it comes across loud and clear. So if you're here, I would love to hear you confirm that, please. If the, if the, the, the audio is loud and clear. But anyway, just going to be going over what I just went over in my Live for Social to sales because I want this to be enjoyable for you to listen to and not like a complete pain in the neck. Okay, so we're talking about calls to action today. Okay? So calls to action are a critical step in creating content on social media that gets you paying clients. Now calls to action are exactly how they sound. They are instructions for people to take action to stay in your world. Okay? It is, it's amazing. You, we're very simple beings, okay? When we get simple instructions, we typically follow them. Okay? So for instance, a call to action could be, if you like what I'm saying right now, hit the like button. Or if you can hear me loud and clear, please comment that you can hear me loud and clear. Or if my, my audio is garbled, please tell me in the comments those are calls to action. Okay? I'm asking you to do something that creates some engagement between the two of us. Okay? Now I want to, I want to talk about how calls to action show up in our real lives. The example I love talking about is we've all been out in the world and maybe been at a bar or coffee shop or at the park or whatever, and we're hanging out and we kind of meet this like attractive human. Not just like an attractive human, but an attractive human that we spark a conversation with and kind of a funny, charming, interesting conversation to boot. And so we have this interaction with them and it's really fun and it kind of, you know, gives us some butterflies, but like we're showing up super cool and all of a sudden like the, the arc of the conversation or of the interaction comes to an end. Maybe their friends are like, hey, we have to go to our dinner reservation. Or they finish their coffee and they have to hit the road or, you know, it's just time to leave the park. Now we have an option here. We have a choice. We can say, hey, you know, I would love to, to meet you again. Do you want to exchange phone numbers? Or do you want to like and follow each other on Instagram? Or hey, you know, I don't know what you're doing tomorrow, but would you want to go for a beverage somewhere? You know, you can make a call to action to continue that relationship. Now here's what happens in real life. Most of the time, we chicken out. We chicken out because we're afraid of hearing no. We're afraid that this person is not going to be interested in meeting us for a beverage or exchanging phone numbers or whatever. And so we just let it pass us by. Now we do this in our personal lives and we also do this in our work lives. Okay? We do this in our businesses and we can't do it anymore because here's the thing, that other person is probably wondering the same thing. Should I ask for their phone number? Should I invite them to go for a drink? Should I do this like, or maybe, maybe in the social media world, like, wow, this seems like a really, really amazing business owner. I kind of need their service. Should I ask them if I can hire them or what the process is to hire them? But then we get in our heads. We're like, oh, well, if they're not asking me, then they're probably not interested. Or maybe they're not accepting clients or maybe they have a boyfriend or girlfriend. We make up all these different things and we get really self conscious. So you as the business owner, you have to set your self consciousness aside side to, to extend that invitation for your clients to come in the door and become your clients. Otherwise, they may not know that you're accepting clients. They may not know that you want to work with them. You get to be excited for them. It's not, you're not coming on too strong. Okay, so call to action is basically an invitation into my world. And they can be really light to continue this conversation, to continue the interaction, or they can be very direct. Okay, so a really light one would be, for instance, an Instagram video where I'm doing something, I'm telling you something, and then at the end I say like and follow for more. Okay, just like and follow. All you have to do is click the heart and then click the follow button. Super simple. And then you get to continue scrolling on looking at reels, okay? It could be the same on LinkedIn, it could be the same on, on TikTok, wherever it is that you're showing up for your business. A more direct one would be, you know, if you, you, you do this post and you describe all the problems that your ideal clients have. You say, hey, by the way, I work with people who are in this shit situation all the time and we get them out of there. And if you're in this situation right now and you don't want to be, book a call with me, okay? Now here's the key. You can't just say, book a call with me. You have to tell them exactly how they book a call with you. Book a call with me, there's a link in the comments, or book a call with me, there's a link in my bio and tell them which link it is, okay? Because we are overwhelmed already. We're on social media trying to distract ourselves from all the things in our life that are overwhelming us. We also have a shit ton of decisions that we make every single day. Thousands of decisions that we make throughout our day, okay? We can't put more responsibility and choices on our ideal clients. If we want them to become our clients, we have to make it very simple for them. Okay? So part of making a good call to action is also telling them like, what the process is like on the back end, okay? Because people are very hesitant to sign up for stuff unless they know exactly how it's going to go. Okay? So for instance, if I were to tell you to go and buy a banana, you would know how to buy a banana. How I would buy a banana is I would go to my local grocery store, I would go to the produce section, I would look for the bananas, I'd find a banana that is the right shade of yellow, meaning it's the right ripeness for my preference. I would take it, probably break it off the bunch because they come in bunches. And then I would go to the cash register and I would pay the person at the cash register and then, voila, I own a banana. Now, if you're a lawyer, if you're a copywriter, if you're a coach or consultant, it's not that simple. You don't go to the consultant supermarket and just pick out your consultant and then check out, okay? It's, there's like a consultation that's involved. Sometimes there's a proposal, like, what's the process? So when you make a call to action, inviting someone to book a call with you. It's also really helpful to say, okay, cool, so you're going to book a call with me, and here's how that call is going to go. We're going to be talking about what your goals are, and then we're talking about what's preventing you from getting those to those goals on your own. And then if it's a fit for both of us, then we can talk about next steps to work together. Okay? You're telling them exactly how that call is going to go as well. All right, now, so calls to action have to be simple. They have to be very direct and clear. And you can only do one at a time, one call to action at a time. You're not doing an Instagram post and telling people to like and follow for more. And also download my lead magnet. And also book a call with me. And also send me referrals of all your friends who are. Are my ideal client. No, no, no, no. That is way too confusing because here I am. I'm really enjoying your content. You've told me to do four different things. Now I have to pause and think, crap, which one should I do first? And in that pause, you've given me just enough time for me to move on and stop caring. We don't want that. We want it to be, like, extremely simple. Like, and follow for more. Tag a friend who needs to hear this. Book a call. The link is in my bio. Okay? Simple, one at a time and clear instructions, okay? Because to hire you to become a client of yours, it has to feel as simple as buying a banana. Okay? Now, if there's two things you take away from this, here's what I want. You get to be forward. Okay? I want you to imagine you're the person who. Any attractive person you come across who has even somewhat a good personality, you're asking for their phone number. That is what you're being like on social media. You're inviting people to be in your world more and more and more and more, okay? Shamelessly, fearlessly. And second, you're being very simple and straightforward about it, okay? You're not overwhelming people. Those are the two things I want you to take away from today. Now, your work is you have to incorporate a cta a Call to Action in your posts this week. Okay? We're not just talking about this and learning about it and getting all excited and comfortable with it and then not doing it. No. And the first few times you do it are gonna feel really gross. It's gonna feel like, oh, people aren't gonna like this and they're not gonna like me and they think I'm being bossy and promotionally and all the things I'm gonna come across as so salesy. Guess what? No they're not. No, they're not. And the people who think that were never going to be your clients to begin with. They were never, ever going to be your clients. So you want them to fuck off. You literally just want them out of your world because they are not here for what you're offering. But once you do get them to leave, you create more space and more energy for people who are actually bought into what you're doing and who will actually follow your Calls to action. So that is the training for today on Calls to Action. I am going to be doing a Q and a session at 3pm for those of you who've upgraded to that, if you have any questions, then bring them there. I can't wait to be seeing what those of you in the challenge are emailing me right now. A couple emails have been pinging through my ears since I started this and again, if you were watching my previous live and it didn't go well, I apologize. I don't know why Restream has such bad audio, but I am going to be contacting them about it because otherwise they have an amazing service. Anyway, I'm Katie McManus, business strategist and leadership coach. This is Social of Sales, Day three of our five day challenge. Stay tuned. We have so much more in the next two days and then I do have a little surprise for you at the end. Anyway, thank you so much. Have a happy Monday and I will talk to you all soon.
