The DO something mindset!

Live-streamed talk by Katie McManus (business strategist and money mindset coach) advocating a "do something" belief: combining hopeful belief with concrete action to influence outcomes in politics and business. She recounts canvassing for Democratic candidates, explains how belief enables follow-through (marathon and revenue examples), and lists practical voter-outreach tactics (canvassing, phone-banking, texting). The stream includes live chat interaction, calls to volunteer, and a promise to go live daily until the election.

Hello and good evening, my friends. I'm Katie McManus, business strategist and money mindset coach, coming to you live this Sunday evening on the Facebooks, on LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, and over here on my phone. Hi, farm girl on. On Tick Tock. Welcome to my live, everyone. I want to talk to you about belief and specifically the do something belief. All right, so let's just arrive. Let's just arrive. Today I had so many conversations. I went canvassing with a bunch of folks who are supporting Democrats who are really, really wanting to turn out the vote for Harris. Thank you, farm girl, for all the likes. Oh, my God. I already have 90. I just started. Thank you. We did a ton of canvassing. We went door to door. We were talking to so many voters, so many folks who have either already voted, I've already made their plan for voting, and even some who haven't actually committed yet. Right. And these are the conversations that we really need to be having right now. I made a commitment to go live every day until the election because I want to do, like, the part that I know I'm. I'm set up to do, right? Because I want to talk about, like, how voting has an impact on our business and on our lives and just the sheer act of voting. Right. I talked about this a couple days ago about how when you are the type of person who's just like, oh, thank you, and hi, Thelma. If you're the type of person who's like, oh, I'm not political, I don't really believe in this stuff. I don't think I can make a difference. Like, what you end up telling the universe is I don't believe I have any power. Right? I genuinely don't believe I have any power. So I'm just going to let go of the power I do have because I don't believe I have it. Right? And what the universe hears when you say stuff like that, when you act like that is cool. We won't give you any opportunities then, Right? The universe sees someone who chooses powerlessness in their everyday life, in elections, in their business, and is like, cool, gotcha. Like, you don't want any power. So we're just going to keep the opportunities and the potential clients and all these things. We're going to keep them away from you because you don't want them. Right. It's amazing what we end up Manifesting when we choose, powerlessness, right? So as a coach, I mean, this is a big thing for me and for coaches, right? Our job is to inspire powerful decisions in our clients, even in people who've never worked with us, never will work with us, right? This is one of the things that I say on strategy calls when someone's thinking about hiring me is like, if I'm not the right coach for you, if I'm not the right business strategist to help you build this business, let's come up with a really powerful reason why you're not going to hire me and why you're going to go and do something else, right? Because my only job here is to empower you to make a powerful decision in your life. Because I know when you start making these powerful decisions, like, even. Even as small as voting, right? As small as that feels because you know you're sharing power with what, hundreds of millions of other people, right? It feels like there's not a lot of power there. There is, though, when you really take that power and do something with has untold benefits energetically in your life and in your business. All right, so it is so important if you have not made a plan to vote yet this year, so important to create a plan if you're not sure DM me. I will help you figure it out. To reach out to people in your life and make sure that they have a plan to vote. Just please, we need this. And it brings me to my topic tonight, because today, like, like I said, I was out canvassing today, and there are a lot of conversations we were having with voters and they're scared. They're scared and they're nervous. And hi, Daniel. I'm not the right fit for many creators gaming the algo. Great to see you. Welcome. Good to see you. Oh, David, always great advice. Thank you. And hi, Renee. And hi. Okay, Joe. And hi, Ghost Alien. I love the names on Tick Tock. It's so much fun. And actually, let's make sure. And hi, Grady White over on Instagram. All right. But here's the thing about this kind of mindset and this kind of talk. Your reality. I heard this from a mentor once, and it's always stuck with me. Your reality is, is created by the two conversations you're having every single day. And that is A, the conversation you're having with yourself inside your own head, And B, with a 2, the conversations you're having with other people. All right. Once one of those conversations goes south, it is your responsibility to change the conversation to go and talk to someone, talk to someone different. If you're getting in your own head and getting freaked out and scared and stressed out, and it is your job to go and find another conversation with someone out there in the real world who can help you flip that. And if you're talking to someone in the real world who's dragging you down, it is time to change conversations or go back into your head and get yourself correct. Right. And hi, Yvonne. Hi. And hi, Big Jeff and Spooky Balmains and Detective Pancake. Pancake. I'm mispronouncing that, I'm sure. And hi, Kiran. Welcome. Karen. I'm sorry, my. My thing on streamyard is sometimes delayed, so I'm just seeing your comment right now. So. Yeah, it just takes a minute sometimes for me to see it anyway, so it's really easy to get sucked into kind of that negative, like, pit of despair of everything that's going wrong in our world and how it can be. You know, there's a chance that we could really see. See our country go off a cliff, right? Totally. Especially with what's on the news and what's being reported to us and just these conversations that we're having every single day, it's really easy to get sucked into it. But here's why you need to work on your ability to pull your mindset back, right? You need to be able to pull yourself back from that brink and get your mindset right. Is we do not get. We're not inspired for action when we don't feel hope, right? I think this is one of the big things that happened when Kamala announced that she was running is like, there was just this. This explosion of hope. And everyone's like, oh, my God, I. I believe in it now, right? And hope is really one of the. The main starting ingredients. It's like yeast for. For action, right? When you believe something is possible, when you believe you can have something, there's like a future out there in the world that you see yourself having. When you believe in it, you're far more likely to actually take action to get it right. So, like, for instance, you know, and. Hi, Randy House, welcome. Yes. In the real world. So if you believe that you can run a marathon, right? You're far more likely to actually go and run a marathon, right? Because if you believe that you can run a marathon, you're probably going to buy the right shoes, right? You're going to, you know, commit to some kind of training plan. You're going to actually follow through on the training plan. Hell, you'll probably sign up for a race, right? You'll build yourself up to it. If you do not believe that you can run a marathon, there's no fucking way you're doing any of those things. Like, you might run for fun. You might run like a mile here or there, but there's no way you're going to end up training because you don't believe it's possible, right? It's the same thing in your business. If you don't believe it's possible for you to hit $30,000 months, cool, you're not going to act as if it's on the way. You're not going to do every damn thing that you possibly could to get there. You're going to hold yourself back. You're going to, like. You're going to hedge your bets, right? You're going to actually prevent your own success because you don't believe it's possible, right? It's the same in politics, all right? The more we talk about the fear and how we're terrified it's not going to work out. Like, it gets us into this mindset of, like, well, it's hopeless, right? It's hopeless. Let me tell you, it's not hopeless right now. It's not even the pollsters are saying they don't know how to read. They don't know how to read the polls and the information that's coming in for them because there are so many people who have registered who are unlikely voters, right? There are so many people who are getting engaged and activated and actually, like, working on campaigns who've never done this before, right? Alan Lichtman, I think that's his name. He's 77 years old. He has predicted the winner of every election, basically, in the last several decades. He's never been wrong. And he's predicted that Kamala will win, right? So there are so many conversations that we're having every single day with our friends, with our loved ones, with people at the grocery store. If you're brave enough to start that conversation. It is so important, my people, to not only keep your mindset focused on the hope and focused on believing that this is possible, but it is so important to also bring other people along, right? Because here's what happens when you're doing this in a business setting, right? When you believe that you can reach this, like, incredible level of success. Hi, Tara. Welcome. When you believe that, you actually start acting as if it's possible, right? So if you have a goal of hitting 30,000 a year in Highland Row. I'm sorry, 30,000amonth. And you believe it's possible, and you've broken down the goal and you're going after it, guys, you're far more likely to reach it, for one. But everyone around you is going to see this. Everyone around you is going to see you setting this goal, like, taking the steps to get there, and they're going to start thinking, wow, you know, if Yvonne can do this, which I know Vaughn is starting a very cool business. If Yvonne can do this, I bet I could, too. Like. Like, I have a dream about starting a business. Like, if she's. If she's believing in herself enough. And I like Yvonne, and she's nice and she's smart and. But, like, we have the same level of education. Maybe we have similar resumes. If she can do this, maybe I can do it, too. And it's incredible what you inspire by just believing in yourself and taking action to get what you want, right? It's. It's absolutely incredible, right? It's the same in politics. It's the same in elections, right? We have to keep the hope alive. We have to be that one person who's standing in the room saying, no, no, no, no, it's not hopeless. Actually, there's so much hope. There's so many reasons why Kamala is likely to win, right? Because when we believe in that and we can feel like we can touch it, it's just like, it's just right there, just out of reach. Like, we're so much more likely to go and, like, take action, to look to see what we can do. You know, what was it that Michelle Obama said during the Democratic convention? It's like, when the polls get scary, do something, right? This is that do something belief system that will change not only the trajectory of our country, but this will change your business. This will change your life. When you understand how to embody that do something mentality, that mindset, it completely changes the game for everything. Yeah, Randy, don't be a weenie. Absolutely. You know, you're in. You're in the don't be a weenie club. But anyway, yeah, it's. It's. It's an important part of the election cycle right now. I want you to pay attention to how the news will. Will focus on the scary bits, right? That's their job. It's. It's the news's job to, like, present scary facts. Because what happens when something scary. We watch more, right? We, like, log in and we're like, oh, my God. I gotta just keep my eyes on the screen, just kind of, you know, keep all the information coming at me. Because that's a fear response. You know, when we. When we're afraid of something, we're far more likely to want to know everything about it. Right. It's the news's job to get high ratings. Unfortunately, that's just how the system's set up. And so they're going to be presenting the scariest possibility to keep us watching. Doesn't necessarily mean that that is a good indicator of who's going to win. All right. We saw this in 2016, you know, and want you to think about, especially if you're a business owner and you've been doing this for a while, like, there have absolutely been seasons where you didn't think you could pull it off. Right. There have been launches. Maybe that didn't go great. There were maybe days where the algorithm wasn't being great to you and your. Your posts just weren't getting the reach that you thought they needed to be able to get clients. You've had dark times. You've had times where it just didn't look very hopeful, if you know what I mean. And yet here you are and it all worked out and maybe another opportunity came knocking. Who knows? Like, we can't plan for how these things happen. Right? It's the same here. It's the absolute same thing here. Right? We. We pull ourselves out of that mindset, we pull ourselves out of the fear, and we just get to work. Right. I fully believe that we're going to iterate this beautiful experiment that is democracy this. This year. I think we are going to push it to. Closer to what we can envision it to be now. Right. And I think we're going to do that with Kamala as our president, as our Madam President. I think. I genuinely think we're going to do it. And I think that key to that success is going to be everyone who's here getting involved. And it doesn't necessarily have to be like a big involved. It doesn't have to be involved with a capital I. Right. Here I am. If you want some ideas of how you can get involved. Hi. I go canvassing. And canvassing means literally going and knocking on doors. Okay. And you can do this. You can get involved with your local democratic office and you can see, you know, when they're sending out canvassing, they have apps to make sure you don't knock on Trumper's doors. Okay. That is. That is actually a thing. Thank you, Michael. Oh, My gosh, thank you. I will. Thank you. So that's absolutely a thing. And I do it all the time. It's actually so much fun, especially if you go with like a friend and you get to chat and you get to get your steps in and you get to talk to really cool people and you're just reminding people to vote. Right? And, and talking to people and going and knocking on their doors is one of the most impactful ways to get people to actually get up on election day and go out of their house and go vote. Right? It's one of the best ways to get people to do it, right, because everyone will remember someone coming to their door, right? That's not just annoying. Phone call or literature drop, whatever. Okay. It does make a difference. You can do that. You can also phone bank. I've done this, you know, and yeah, you get hung up on, okay, not gonna gloss over it. And some people don't want to talk to you and they're just gonna hang up on you. And you know what, you can't take it personally because you've gotten these calls. You've gotten the call where it takes a moment to connect and there's no one there and you just click, right? That's fine. You're gonna, you're gonna get past it. But you know, the people who maybe are just so busy in their life they kind of forgotten there are actually people like that out there, you know, you're gonna help them remember. You know, someone who gets a phone call from a campaign is three times, I'm sorry, 3% more likely to go and vote. Not three times. It's small, but when they're getting one of the four touches, they're actually five times more likely. If someone gets someone knocking on their door, a phone call, a piece of literature dropped, and a mailer, right? They're four to five times more likely to go and vote. Think about the impact you could have by just being one of these things, right? You can text people that you already know. Citadena. Welcome. Thank you so much. You can text people that you already know. I honestly thought about doing a live where I literally just go through like, like everyone in my, in my contacts, on my phone and like texted or called them. Now granted, this would include people, certain individuals that I've had like one night stands with and dated and like didn't continue with. I'm brave. I know I tell people not to be a weenie and I'm brave and all, but I don't, I don't know If I'm that brave. But literally, if you want to get involved, if you want to get people to go to the. The polls, you can do that. You can just text people you already know and just say, hey, you know, this election, scaring the crap out of me, and I genuinely think Kamala can win. But you. You have a plan to vote, right? Like, please tell me you're voting or you've already voted, right? That is exactly what you can do. You know, hell, you can stand on a busy street corner and hold a Harris sign. You know, the visibility helps. It really does. You know, there are so many ways to get involved and first and foremost, voting, like, please, please, please vote. You know, the mindset around do something is something that, like, when you start living by that in one area of your life, it takes over. It absolutely takes over your whole life. Because if you start believing that, like, a certain future is available to you and it's possible and you can go for it and you can be a part of making, and you believe it enough that you actually start doing something, you take action every day to make it more likely to come about. When you start doing that towards politics, you start doing that in your business, and you start doing that maybe in your love life, you start doing that maybe in your health, like, maybe you have a fitness goal, and you, you know, just all of a sudden, like, start applying that belief system that, wow, if I can have impact over here, I bet I can do something really cool over here as well, right? So I invite you all in all areas of your life to really think about, you know, what is it that you believe is possible for you and what's just across that line, what's just outside of the range of that, right? What would it take for you to believe in that bigger dream for your business, your life, your health, your. Your love life? All. All the areas. What would it take for you to believe that in our world, in your community? Like, what's the thing that you want for everyone? And just give yourself permission to believe in it, right? Just believe that. That. That. That thing that's just beyond your comfort level. Believe that it's possible for you. Believe that it's there, and then check in with yourself and think of, like, what's the first action my brain is telling me to do, to make that real, Right? Do this and let me know what comes up for you. Because I bet you if you start doing that one action, you'll understand what the next action is. And the next action, the next action. And before you know it. You're. You're going to change your life and you're going to change your community for the better, and you're going to hopefully help our country heal from the last eight years of just trauma that we've experienced both through the, you know, the Trump presidency and then the pandemic and dealing with all of the bullshit around all of that. You know, I really think it's possible for us. And I mean, honestly, you want to be memorable. You want to. You want to really have an impact on people's lives and just by having interactions with you. Be that person who shows up and gives everyone hope. Don't be the person in the room who shows up and just, like, throws more fear around. Don't do that. There's enough of that, you know, And I know it's so easy and, like, we can get really sucked in our own heads about it, but don't be that person. Be responsible with your energy. If you show up and you put hope into the room, you're going to inspire people to take action for themselves, their community and for our country. Right? It's magic and it's going to change your life as well. Anyway, I want to thank everyone for all the likes over on TikTok and for just being here. Yvonne Lewis, Nancy, Rob, Roberto, Steven C. Prom, Joshua, Mike, Shauna, Michael, Dave. I can't even. There's so many. Okay, thank you all for being here. And to everyone on LinkedIn. Oh, my gosh. Daniel, David. Kieran. Randy. Randy, Randy, Randy. Leandro Citadeno. I've been pronouncing your name correctly. And then over on Instagram, Grady White. Mendez. Boop the snoot. Boop the snoot. Thanks for being here. Oh, my gosh. And Lisa Marie. Hello. Welcome. Thank you so much for being here. If you have any questions, if you're wanting to get involved and you just don't know how, I can't promise I know everything, but I can definitely help you navigate how to find a way to get involved and what you can do. And, yeah, just keep up the good work, everyone. And if you. If you can just give like an hour, two hours between now and the election, know that it's impactful, know that it will help us get to that. That future that I believe we're going to have, or we're going to have. Madam. Madam President Harris. All right, everyone. And also lots of business. I'm going to leave you there Sunday night. My dog has already passed on the floor and she probably wants me to go to bed. So thank you for being here. I hope this is really useful. And I will be going live every single day between now and the election to show you not only how you can be better in your business, but inspiring you to get out, get active, make this happen, help Harris get across the line, and become our Madam President. All right, everyone. I love you so much. Thank you for being here. I'm Katie McManus, business strategist and money mindset coach, and I will see you tomorrow. Bye.
