Who says you can't do big things?

Katie McManus argues confidence comes after you act, not before. She pushes small directional shifts that compound over time, using her own decision to consider leaving Philadelphia as an example of how to start moving toward bigger goals.

Foreign. Good evening. I'm Katie McManus, business strategist and money mindset coach, coming to you this evening live on the Facebook, Facebooks, on LinkedIn, YouTube, and Twitter. I don't know why I'm still on Twitter. I keep saying this. I should probably just make a decision. Like, I'm going to talk about tonight about dropping it. Anyway, good evening, and wherever you are, I hope you are comfortable, and I want you to sit back and relax while I tell you that you need to stop being a weenie. You need to stop being a weenie about whatever it is that you're being a weenie about. Okay? You need to stop holding yourself back, because here we are. We're halfway. More than halfway through January. I'm already hearing people fizzling out on their, you know, resolutions. And here's. Here's what I believe about resolutions. Is there honestly just too small? They're just too small. There's no goal in mind for many of them. It's a habit change without a goal. Habit change without a major goal that you can, like, mark and measure and, you know, see how you're improving isn't really that helpful. Okay. And also, sometimes we get so busy in changing the little shit in our life, like changing our gym habits or how we eat or, you know, how much water we drink, which cheers. That we're. We're just managing the bullshit, really, rather than making big changes that will actually make us happier. One of the things that I've been dealing with recently is that I realized I don't really want to live in Philadelphia anymore. It's just. Just not the city for me. And there are some things that go into it. So trying to decide where I'm moving next with a couple different factors involved. Now, that's not an easy decision to make. But if I don't make it now, what's going to happen? I'm going to end up staying in the city that I'm not happy in. So this happens in your love life if you're in a relationship that is lukewarm at best, but it's not bad enough for you to, like, leave. Just leave. End it. End it. Like, be the brave one here. Because you both deserve happiness. All right? If you have a dream about writing a book and you're just not doing it, go and do it. Who cares? You can. You can literally write a book, pay someone to edit it, publish on Amazon. Boom, you have a book now. You can obviously also get it published through traditional venues. But I'm saying the only person who's getting in the way of you doing what you want is you. And I see this in business all the time. So many folks, and I used to be one of them. I have so much compassion for this person. You know, they are talking nonstop about the business that they want to create one day someday when they've saved up enough money in their job that they're miserable in, by the way. And they keep spending all this money that they're making because they're so miserable, they need some form of dopamine to make them happier. I used to do that, by the way. They, they just don't have it. They don't have the confidence yet to start this business. And they're waiting for that moment where that confidence just kind of clicks in. In. And let me tell you, friends, it doesn't work that way. Confidence doesn't come before you actually do the thing. Okay, I mean, let's talk about riding a bike. You. If I were to ask you to go and ride a bike, and you'd never ridden a bike before, but I'd shown you like a chart of how to do it, or maybe you looked at like Pinterest for a little bit, you still wouldn't feel confident going and riding that bike. You'd be like, no, this is a terrible idea. Like, I've never ridden a bike before. I, I need to learn, right? Confidence comes after you've gotten on the bike and successfully ridden it like couple dozen times. That's when you're hopping on, not even thinking about it. Okay. Driving a car is this exact same. When you first started driving a car, you were really concerned with where all the things were. Where's the brake? Where's the accelerator? Do I have to shift gears? How do I manage the radio? Confidence only happens after you do it a bunch of times. So if you're waiting to feel confident in yourself doing this new thing that you have never done before, you're going to be waiting till the end of your life. And I don't want that for you. So this live, I'm going to keep it short because I just want you to take some action. Some action that's going to be that 2 degree shift that'll change the course of your life. Just 2 degrees. It doesn't have to be a big decision, it just has to be a two degree decision. Because here's the thing. If you're, if you're sailing in the Atlantic, depending on where you are, 2 degrees is the difference between Canada and Mexico. That's it. 2 degrees can change the course of your life, but you have to make the decision and you have to act. That's on you. And hi, if any of your goals are business related, you obviously know where to find me. You're watching me. Anyway, I have a small ask if you are on TikTok. I am growing my TikTok following and I bet someone $5 that I could get to a hundred followers by today. I'm at 97 and my my username on Tick Tock is Katie. Like my name, K A T I E dot and then the letters K D H D. So if you don't mind, if you're watching going into TikTok and following me there, I would so appreciate it and I love you so much. And with that I want to wish you an amazing what is today? Tuesday. Short weeks always mess me up. One last thing, friends. Tomorrow I'm announcing something that I have been working on for months and months and months and months and months and I am so excited to roll it out. This has been my brainchild for the last six months and I am just beyond words about bringing it to you and the world. I'm going to be announcing in a bunch of different places tomorrow. But please, if you're, if you're curious what it is, keep your eyes peeled, which is such a weird thing. Anyway, I'm Katie McManus, Business Strategist, Money mindset coach. Thank you for joining. I hope you have an amazing Tuesday and I will see you live tomorrow.
