You can do this!

Katie McManus, a business strategist and money-mindset coach, offers practical advice for entrepreneurs and laid-off workers during uncertain times. She points to companies founded in recessions as proof you can build despite downturns, and urges you to protect your emotional energy, ask for what you want, and use your network.
Hello, friends. I'm Katie McManus, business strategist and money mindset coach. Coming to you shortly. This is going to be a brief live this evening because it's late and I want to go to bed. But I wanted to pop in and tell you that you can do this. I know it is a particularly scary time right now. We are seeing mass shootings happening pretty much daily, multiple times a day. We are seeing massive layoffs from companies that we wouldn't have expected would be laying people off, like Google, Microsoft, like, I think we all figured those were safe. And if you are starting a business and you're facing this world that just has so much pain and fear and scarcity and black. Oh, honey. I just. I want you to know that you can do this. I want you to know that you're building a business. Actually, one of the best times to build a business. Okay. So many companies start in recessions. So many companies start in economic downturns. Disney, IBM, Airbnb, Uber. There are a gazillion others. Um, but I'll just leave it there for now. I know they're the big kahunas. I know we look at them, we're like, well, I'm not that big. Not yet, not yet. And also, you know, they're just the ones that make the lists. There are so many smaller companies that get started during recessions that once they get through, they're golden because they made it through the hardest thing. And I want to remind those of you who have recently been laid off, I, first and foremost, I want to send you all of my love. It is one of the hardest things to have your income yanked out from under you. And I hope you're being kind and gentle to yourself. And I hope you are also guarding your energy, meaning only allowing those who are kind and gentle to you in to give you advice and to comfort you at this time. Time. No season lasts forever. Okay? Thank God we don't live in a Game of Thrones universe where winter can just last for years and years and years and years like, that would suck. Okay? We live in a four season universe. And I'm really into that because it's such a great reminder that no season lasts. So whatever you're going through right now, be it good, bad, you know, mediocre, it, the tides will turn, the season will change, and it's not going to last forever. And whatever it is that you're doing, I want you to keep being brave. Okay? The worst thing that you can do right now is to be a weenie about stuff. Okay? The worst thing you can do is hold yourself back because you're worried what other people will think is to shrink and not be seen. Okay? In these times, the people who shine brightest are the ones that step out into the spotlight. Okay, we're waiting for you. We're waiting for you. Step out, claim your voice, post, engage, ask for attention. Ask for what you want, not just what you need. That whole framework asking for what you want and not what you need. And if you ask for more than you're selfish, this is going to be a lot of what I'm unpacking in my new Wealthy Weenies boot camp that I'm rolling out. It just launched today. I'm so excited. I already have seven people in it. It's insane. If you're curious, you can DM me, but that's not the point of this, of this post. When we only ask for what we need, we're constantly in this state of lack because we're constantly just focused on surviving. I don't want you just focused on surviving. I want you focused on what is it that I actually want. And yes, if you're just laid off and you get offered a job and it's like, not exactly what you want, like, go ahead and take it right now, but take it and start working towards the things that you actually want. Okay? If you're building a business, like, yes, like, stressing out about getting your next few clients is absolutely something you need to focus on. But your next few clients on your way to wear, you know, keeping your eye on that bigger picture is what is going to keep you inspired. And I hope that you'll lean into this network. Wherever you're seeing me, I'm going live to the Facebooks, to LinkedIn, to YouTube and Twitter. Wherever you are showing up and wherever your people are, I hope you're leaning in and asking for the help that you want. Because you know what? You deserve it. You deserve all the help. You deserve whatever it is that you want. And there are so many people out here. I know from being really Firmly in the LinkedIn world, there are so many people out here who are just dying to help. Okay? They're just waiting for you to ask. So whatever it is that you're struggling with, ask for help. We're all here with that. I'm going to go eat my dinner. We're having a whole weird wacky time day, and then I'm going to go to bed. I hope you have an amazing rest of your week. You'll be seeing me a lot because I'm going to be posting a lot. But I'm here and I love you all so much, and I am sending you just massive vibes of abundance, of ease, of calm. And I'm just sending it to you right now. By the way, I say vibes because, like, I'm not religious and I really do prayer. But, yeah, sending. Sending you such good energy. All right, Love you all. I'm Katie McManus, business strategist and money mindset coach. Have a great night, and I will be live with you again tomorrow.
