Your Magic Key to Success

Katie McManus uses the Felix Felicis metaphor from Harry Potter to argue that declaring yourself lucky rewires your brain to spot opportunities and attract them. She walks through how this mindset shift works for entrepreneurs, mixing neuroscience with personal stories about TikTok success and the power of gratitude.

Hello, good evening. I'm Katie McManus, business strategist and money mindset coach. Welcome to my live. Just gonna cover some housekeeping and then I want to get into this very important topic for the evening. First and foremost, I am going live to the Facebooks, to LinkedIn, to YouTube, and to Twitter. I love this to be interactive. So if you have any questions or any comments you want to make along the way, please pop them in the chat. And also, just know that sometimes the technology doesn't work in our favor and I don't see all the comments. Comments. So if you comment something and I ignore it, I'm not ignoring it. I just don't see it. I do love to call everyone out. So if you want to say hi, please say hi. I'd love to know who you are, who's watching, because otherwise I just get this little eyeball and the number's wrong because Streamyard doesn't read, you know, from all the platforms I'm streaming to. So I have no idea how many people are watching or who's watching. So, anyway, tonight I want to talk about your key to success. And this is such a simple concept that I want you to listen to this and I literally want you to just run with it. Ok? I want to talk and. Hi, Justin. Wonderful to see you. Oh, so great to have you here. This is your key to success and your key to all. All of the. Of the luck that is available to you in the world. You actually have access to this already. So I want to talk about Felix Felicis, and if you know what that is, then you are in my inner sanctum. You understand? You're a Harry Potter nerd, just like I am. Felix Felicis is liquid luck. So in Harry Potter, in I forget which book. I think it was the fifth or the sixth. Oh, my God, my nerd. I'm failing as a nerd. And I want to say hi to Jay. Thank you. I want to say hi to Marjorie. Welcome. Hello. Another CPCC welcome. So liquid luck is a potion that Harry and his friends take, and basically it sets you up to have all the luck for a certain amount of time. The cool thing about Felix Felicis is that it actually works with whether or not you take it. All right, so Harry takes it and he gets this incredible intuition about what he needs to go and do, right? So he doesn't follow the normal plan of things that he would have to do to. I'm just being vague because, you know, he may not have read the books. He doesn't follow the normal. Hold on. Sorry. My dog is being kind of a turd and I'm getting distracted. I see you. I'm ignoring you. Yes. Manifesting is the thing. So anyway, so Harry wants to fix something. He would normally have, like, a set plan of how he would go about it, but his intuition tells him, no, go and do this thing instead. And then go and do this thing. And it's counterintuitive, but go and do this thing as well. And he follows it. Now, we all know that feeling where, like, you're walking your dog, say, through the city, and you get this feeling like, you know, I normally go this way, but I'm going to go down this street instead tonight. I just want to go down the street. And then you bump into someone you haven't seen in forever or, you know, you notice that this place is opened and you're really excited and you go in, they're giving away, like, free hot chocolates. We all have luck within us. We all have luck within us. The key to untapping or tapping into that luck. And. Hi, Leandro, welcome from Sao Paulo. The key to tapping into that luck is believing that you have it. That's it. Because also in Harry Potter, I'm gonna use Harry Potter as if it is an actual event that happened in the world. Harry tricks his best friend Ron. He pretends to pour some Felix fleeces into his pumpkin juice before a big Quidditch game. And Ron goes on and wins the game after sucking majorly in all the previous tournaments. All right, Ron, just thinking that he was lucky, allowed for him to go and win this game. So what brings us up? Why am I talking about Harry Potter? Why am I talking about Felix Leases? Why am I talking about liquid luck? So I was on the TikTok machine the other day, and I saw this great TikTok of this girl in her early 20s, and she was talking about another TikTok that she'd watched where these two girls constantly said, you know, I'm so lucky. Everything always works out for me. And everything did. Like, random things would happen for her. And this girl who was doing the TikTok that I watched was explaining how she saw this TikTok and she'd been doing it for about a day and a half. And how in that time, like, 17 different things had happened, including she bumped into someone at the nail salon who treated her to a manicure. All right, Just saying, I'm so lucky. Everything always works out for me. And I really dug into this today because I wanted to think about, like, how does this actually work? Because running a business can be fucking stressful. It can be scary. You can feel like you are failing a million times a day. And it's so easy when you're in that downward spiral to just start ruminating on everything that's going wrong and everything that's worrying you and all the bad things, things that could potentially happen, because you're already focusing on the bad things that are happening. And when you're in that mindset, guess what you look for? You look for more evidence to prove your theory that everything is bad, that everything is burning down and this sucks and it's not going anywhere. And how helpful is that in growing a business? Just going to ask you, what do you think, Justin and Leandra and Marjorie and Jay. Yes. And Justin. Mother's reason why. Trust your gut is a common phrase. It pairs the saying we had in the Navy. Think long, think wrong. Yeah, so here's a cool thing. We actually have neurons in our brains. Obviously, we know about that, but we also have neurons in our hearts and in our guts, in our digestive tracts. So we do thinking from the heart and we do thinking from the gut. Okay, we don't credit that in Western medicine. Okay, We. But we do have neurons there. So when you know something from the heart, you know it in your heart. It's no less valid because it's coming from your heart rather than your head. Same with your gut. I love that. Think long, think long, think wrong. I'm going to steal that. But here's the thing. You don't have to change anything. Nothing good has to happen to you for you to shift your mindset, for you to take it from. Here's the laundry list of everything that's going wrong, and here is the infinite list of everything that could go wrong to I'm so lucky. Everything always works out for me. I'm so lucky. Everything always works out for me. Because when you shift your mindset to I'm so lucky, when you. When you imagine that you drink that Felix Felicis, that liquid luck potion, guess what that opens your mind up to? Instead of looking for everything that's wrong, you start looking for evidence of you being lucky, of good things happening to you, of kindness, of serendipity. Okay? And because you're open and you're looking around, more opportunities come your way. Not just that. People connect with you on a deeper level. You know, if someone's in a bad mood and there's like a storm cloud over them, you know, are you really going to go up to them and start chatting them up and find out what they do for work and be like, oh, my God, I want to work with you? Probably not. You're probably going to be like, that person has weirdo energy. I'm going to, like, keep my distance. But if you're carrying this light magnetic energy of, I'm so lucky, everything always works out for me. You're probably looking up, you're making really kind eye contact with people. You're probably creating really charming conversations with with them, you know, at the dog park, in the line of coffee, whatever. And because you have this lighter energy around you, because you have this preemptive gratitude to the universe, people read that. People want to see how they get to spend more time with you or stay in contact with you then. And that's when opportunities arise. So bring this up, because this is just such a simple shift, and it's something that, like, I forget about myself in my own business. Because running a business and scaling a business is hard, okay? It's a lot of work and there are a lot of things that can go wrong. But that doesn't mean that we have to focus our energy there, okay? We get to focus our energy on. I'm so lucky. Everything always works out for me. And because we focus there, it's true. Any skier or snowboarder will tell you that if you're going down the mountain and there are a bunch of trees, you don't look at the trees. You don't focus on the trees. Because when you focus on the trees, guess what happens? You hit the trees. You don't want to hit the trees. That is dangerous. That is potentially life ending. You focus on the empty space. You focus where you want to go, okay? If you want to focus on problems in your business, be my guest. Guess what you are going to get in your business. You're going to get a whole bunch of problems here, and then you're going to get more problems, and then you're getting a bunch of stressful situations and weirdo clients and this and that. No, let's just clear that energy out. We just don't want. But when you focus on luck, when you focus on gratitude, when you focus on everything always works out for you. You open yourself up to so much more. You do not hit a tree. You don't get a concussion. You have clear skiing. Just want to make sure I'm saying hi to everyone. Awesome. And so tomorrow or tonight, I want you to take on this mantra, okay? I'm so Lucky. Everything always works out me. And I want you to carry this with you, and I want you to start looking for opportunities and instances where this is true, where luck finds you. Because for luck to find you, you have to be open to it. Okay. I can't tell you. I mean, I. I am assuming that we've all walked past a $20 bill on the ground and not noticed it. Okay. I assume we've all walked past a cute person of the same or opposite sex who is checking us out and who we would be interested in, and we just weren't paying attention. Okay. Maybe they could have been our soulmate. Who knows? I guarantee you you have missed things because you just weren't paying attention to them. I want you paying attention because when you pay attention, when you focus on the opportunities that are all around you, magical things happen. I see it every single day with my clients, so. Oh, there's someone at the door. Anyway, with that. I hope this is helpful. I want to say thank you to Justin and Leandro and Marjorie and Jay. Thank you for joining. I hope this is useful. I hope this gave you a little motivation to go out and focus on everything that is good that is coming your way and to actually notice it when it shows up. Anyway, I'm Katie McManus, business strategist and money mindset coach. Thank you for joining, and I look forward to going live with you again soon. Bye.
