What is a calorie and why should you even care about it as an athlete? All you gotta know about calories, guys, is that calories are energy. If you are feeling slow or sluggish at practice, that could mean one of two things. One, it's either you are calorie deficient, you don't have enough calories in your body overall, you don't have enough energy, and you just need to eat more food. Or two, you're eating enough calories but you are nutrient deficient, which means you're not eating enough of the right foods for your body and for your performance. And so an easy way to start here, guys, is by focusing on protein on whole carbs and foods, which is fruit and potatoes and rice and pasta and all of these amazing things. Focus on the whole foods, kind of get rid of that fast food, and that's going to be an amazing start.
