Athletes often ditch their nutrition, training, and sleep plans when motivation fades. The speaker argues you have to follow the plan anyway, not when you feel like it, if you want to get recruited or perform better.
Follow the plan, not your mood. I see tons of athletes all the time getting so motivated and so excited, and they have a new nutrition plan or a new workout plan, and they're gonna get to sleep on time because they want to get recruited and they're super hyped. But day 1 of week 3 comes along and they don't feel super motivated. They don't feel like getting to bed on time or putting their phone away. They don't feel like eating. They follow their mood instead of following the plan that is going to get them to where they want to go. This summer, follow the plan, don't follow your mood.
