In this instructional video, the speaker outlines a daily nutrition framework for football players, centered on a "performance plate" that balances protein, carbohydrates, colorful fruits and vegetables, and healthy fats. The plate model is applied to breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The speaker also details snack strategies: a protein‑carbohydrate snack for general energy, a high‑carbohydrate snack before practice to replenish muscle glycogen, and a before‑bed shake rich in protein and carbs to support overnight recovery and prevent in‑season weight loss. Specific food examples (e.g., chicken, rice, avocado, beef steak, granola bar, PB&J, milk, banana, oats) are provided, and the speaker emphasizes the importance of not skipping meals or snacks.

Football players, this is what your nutrition needs to be looking like every single day. And this one down here is one of the most important that athletes usually skip. We've got meals and we've got snacks here. Don't skip them. Figure out a way to get them. It's really important. And what you want these meals to look like are a performance plate. So a performance plate— well, that's a terrible circle. If you're looking at a performance plate, this is kind of how we'd want to set it up. We'd want protein here. Chicken, beef, turkey, whatever you want here. You'd want carbs here. So that would be half of your plate being carbs. Potatoes, rice, breads, anything like that is going to be awesome. Pasta. And then here we want color. Okay, color means fruits and veggies. We want one fruit and one veggie every single performance plate. And then also we wanna add fats on top of the plate. So what that would be, it could be avocado, it could be nuts, it could be cheese, it could be full-fat yogurt, it could be anything like that to get your fats up and to keep you full throughout the day. That's a perfect performance plate. So we want that breakfast, we want that lunch, and we want that dinner. And then snacks come in. We want this to be protein and a carbohydrate snack. So like a beef steak and a granola bar or a beef steak and a banana or something like that. And then we want this to be a high-carb snack because it's before practice. So we wanna top off your muscle energy tanks so you have enough energy to get to practice. A good high-carb snack could be a PB&J. It could be dried fruit and a granola bar, whatever's really easy to have at that time of day. And then last but not least, we would have our before bed snack slash meal. This is the one that most athletes skip, and this is gonna make sure that you're not losing weight during season. Okay. I would recommend doing a shake full of protein and full of carbohydrates. So milk, protein powder, banana, and oats in it can give you the perfect amount of protein and carbs that you need to give your body what it needs to, to repair itself and recover quickly throughout the night. Hey!
