A banana and a piece of chocolate both have about 27g of carbs, but the banana also has vitamins, minerals, and potassium that help muscle contraction. For workouts, pick nutrient-dense carbs like fruit when you can, though candy works in a pinch.

There's about 27 carbs in this banana and about 27 carbs in this piece of chocolate. What is the difference? And should athletes completely avoid the carbs in this? Your body's kind of like an engine, and we all know that engines need fuel in order to go. So your muscles have little energy tanks in them. Those energy tanks need gas in order to go. When you eat carbs, your body processes that and uses them to fill those tanks so you have better endurance and can perform longer, better. Both of these would technically fill up your muscle energy tanks. That being said, One has a lot more nutrient benefits than the other one does. So I would definitely recommend having this before a workout, during a workout, far more than this, because this has lots of vitamins, lots of minerals, potassium to help with muscle contractions and all of those important things that your body needs to stay healthy, to stay strong, and to perform well. That being said, is candy the demon? Should you always avoid it? No. If candy is the only thing that you have available during your games, say Skittles or gummy bears, eat the candy. Drink the sports drink. But if you have something more natural, something more nutrient-filled, I'd always recommend this before you ever do this.
