If you pair your training program with too much protein, your performance will suffer. If you pair your training program with not enough protein, you're not going to be able to recover or put on muscle. But if you pair your training program with just the right amount of protein, your body is going to have what it needs to build muscle, recover, and perform well. The formula to figure out the just right amount of protein for you is your body weight in pounds, and then you multiply it by 0.82. That's going to give you how much protein you need. Now, if you're getting too much protein, you're most likely not getting enough carbs and fats, which is why you're not going to be able to perform as well and have the energy you need. If you're not getting enough protein, your body just doesn't have the building blocks to build the muscle that you want to build. And then if you get just the right amount of protein, as long as you are getting enough carbs and fats along with that, you are going to see better performance, better recovery, and feel better overall as an athlete. I just made a grocery guide for athlete families so that you can know what types of carbs, fats, and protein you need to purchase for your athletes.
