The worst thing that you could be eating as an athlete before practice is a protein bar. Okay, I might be exaggerating a little bit, but I have so many of my athletes, when I ask them what they're eating before practice, they say, "Yeah, probably a protein bar. Yeah, I have a protein bar 2 to 3 times a day." Like, no guys, like protein's important. That's fine. Like you can have it after practice, but before practice you need carbs. So a granola bar, dried fruit, applesauce, carbohydrates give you energy, protein does not. So stop eating protein bars before you practice if you actually wanna perform well at practice, save it for after.
