Faith isn't the opposite of doubt, it's the opposite of sight. Hebrews defines faith as evidence of things unseen, a spiritual form of seeing that goes beyond what's visible. Limiting yourself to only what you can see prevents you from understanding what God intends to reveal.

I once heard a friend say the opposite of faith is not doubt, but sight. And that feels so true. It's, um, an arrogant confidence in having to know things. It's an insecurity about uncertainty. The scripture defines in Hebrews that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen. And that word actually translates to mean to see in the spiritual sense. That gives us hope about life. So when what we see or what we experience doesn't align with what we believe, we have hope for something that we can't yet see. I once heard a preacher say, if all you see is what you see, then you haven't seen all that has to be seen. Hallelujah!
