Christopher Parsons (speaker) discusses why AEC subject-matter experts have been reluctant to participate in knowledge-sharing: they recognize content is hard to retrieve and worry their contributions won't be used in the long term. Now that systems make knowledge discoverable, experts see value in contributing because it prevents them from becoming repetitive bottlenecks (answering the same question repeatedly), frees mental bandwidth for higher-order work, and enables others (on job sites, with clients, or remotely) to tap their knowledge. Parsons argues this shift will improve quality of life for both information seekers and experts.
