Transcript of a walkthrough video showing Ware Malcomb’s intranet 'Disciplines' landing page (The Hub), focusing on the Civil Engineering discipline page. Describes page navigation, external links (project portfolio, licensure), document blocks (sample plans, project log, QA/QC sheets), document library filters and previews, team/employee blocks, and links to CAD standards and training/tips videos. Emphasizes consistent format across discipline pages to help employees onboard.
Chapters
Hi, this is Koei from Knowledge Architecture. Let's take a look at where Malcolm's discipline pages on their intranet the Hub the Disciplines landing page can be found in the Services Community, which also includes Design Sustainability and Project type diversification. The main disciplines are shown here in a smart navigation block with stock icons from the Built in Stock Icon library. I'm going to take a closer look at the Civil Engineering page. At the top of the page is a brief overview of the civil engineering approach and experience. This basic navigation block includes external links to the team's project portfolio and licensure list. On the firm's website, there's a table of contents block to show you what you can find below the fold of the page. The sample plans and project log are shown in collapsible smart document blocks which are pulling from the Civil sample plans and checklists. Document Library Using category filters, the documents are shown in the grid layout with small thumbnails so you can preview each document before opening it. I'll collapse these to get them out of the way. Also in a collapsible smart document block, the QA QC sheets are displayed in list layout. For these documents, the title of the document is more important than the visual preview since there are many, many files that all follow the same format. In the right column we have a description of the Civil Advisory team plus an employee block in compact grid layout with large headshots. Below that are three links in a basic navigation one to the Civil CAD Standards manual, one to a collection of civil engineering tips and tricks videos, and one to civil engineering training videos. Each discipline page follows a similar format with helpful text, team members and both internal and external resources giving employees the information they need to get up and running within their discipline. Thank you to Ware Malcolm for allowing us to share their discipline pages. Please reach out if you have any questions and happy building.
