Founders often become the default owner of 3PL relationships by accident, and no one notices when things fall apart. Guevara recommends a 20-minute fix: create a one-page record for each vendor with the contact info, review dates, and the name of who actually owns it. If you can't name an owner, you don't really own the relationship.

VPL relationship, ask yourself right now, who owns it? Not who talks to them, who owns it? In most brands, the honest answer is that the founder owns it by default because the founder signed it and nobody has ever said out loud that it belongs to somebody else, which means when it degrades, it degrades silently because there's no one whose job it is to notice. So here's the thing to actually do this week. And it takes about 20 minutes. Write one page, the name, peak contact, and their direct line. The escalation path if that person is unavailable with a second name on it. The date of your last review and the date of the next one. And at the top, the name of the person at your company who owns this relationship. If you cannot write a name at the top of that page, you don't have a 3PL relationship. You have a 3PL invoice.
