Set up QC inventory and scale. And for each step I'll show you the problems founders face. The solution process an AI tool and a free platform that make it easier and a real example from DTC brands. So let's dive in. Let's discuss phase one first Idea and research Founders launch products without proof of demand. They end up with unsellable stock. Now here's the solutions that you should follow. First is market validation. Search Amazon reviews, Shopify stores, Reddit FB groups for pain points. Trend scanning. Use Google Trends plus TikTok Creative center to see if demand is rising. Next is material awareness. Understand the supply chain of your category. Cotton versus polyester, stainless steel versus glass. Now there are AI tools and platforms to use this first is ChatGPT for free of course or paid plan prompted to summarize 100 negative Amazon reviews into top five recurring complaints. Next is GLASP or Perplexity. It's also free. Research emerging product trends in your niche or Google Trends. Validate search demand over time. TikTok Creative center is also free. See top products trending by geography. One founder spotted that customers hated cleaning reusable straws with ChatGPT. They summarized thousands of reviews and designed a collapsible straw with a built in cleaner. Sales doubled versus competitors. Now moving to phase two supplier discovery. First time founders trust the first Alibaba vendor they see and end up ghosted or overcharged. Here's the solutions. Start broad shortlist 10 vendors per product. Now filter MOQ certifications. Responsiveness lead time Anything that you can filter. Now use scoreboards, score vendors, use cost, lead time, responsiveness compliance and then Verify factories, request company profile, check references. You can also hire a third party auditor to do this. Here are the AI tools and platforms you can use. Alibaba is free start but don't stop there. 1688. Com and with Google Translate see local China pricing benchmarks. Import yeti it's also free. See which US companies a factory already ships to. And now of course ChatGPT create a vendor scorecard template. LinkedIn is also free look up factory reps or sourcing agents to confirm legitimacy. An apparel brand moved from their Alibaba vendor to a vetted canton fair vendor found via import Yeti. They cut lead time by two weeks and dropped cost by 30%. Phase three is sampling and development. My favorite part. Founders skip sampling or rush to production. Then quality issues kill the launch. Here are the solutions. Three sampling stages. Proto pre production gold sample then tech packs or product specification sheets. Use clear design files, measurements, color logos. All the details should be there. Then track revisions, record feedback per round. Here are the AI tools and platforms that you can use. Canva create mockups and product sketches. Figma you can build collaborative tech packs. ChatGPT can generate sampling checklists or what to ask per round notion or ClickUp to track sample revisions and factory feedbacks. Ahoudi brand skipped gold samples then logo misaligned across 10,000 pieces in 80k loss. Another used figma to build tech packs plus track feedback in Doshal. Now they have flawless valk run. Moving to phase number four Costing and negotiation. Founders only look at factory cost fob. They ignore tariff, freight duties and then margin collapse. The solution is to calculate true landed costs. These are the factory pricing, packaging, freight tariff plus 3 PL negotiate smarter notches the price terms. MOQ and lead time Check each code always validate to avoid tariff shocks. Then AI tools and platform for this is of course Google sheet you can build landed cost calculator. Check the comments below and I'll share a sample sheet for this. ChatGPT generate a formula for landed costs including duties and tariffs. Import genius where you can verify HTS codes. CBP cross database. You can search binding rulings on HS codes and also again chatgpt draft negotiation scripts and email templates. A T shirt brand thought that their fob that is $5 was solid after duties and freight landed cost was 7.8. Another used a free landed cost calculator plus validated HS Code's accurate pricing. 50k saved in cash flow within 60 day vendor terms. Moving to phase number five. Founders go live without QC or planning. The result is defective goods stock outs and then bad reviews. QC inspections during pre shipment audits is very important. Third, planning where you can plan best likely worst case scenarios. You can also use backup suppliers, pre qualify 1 to 2 second sources and then align inventory plus marketing. Match the stock with campaign timing. What are the AI tools that you can use for this? Phase 5 Trello or ClickUp where you can build purge based launch timelines, ChatGPT to draft inspection checklist for inspectors and Google Sheets to build reorder triggers Zoho Inventory. There's also a free tier to that to track stock if you don't have three PL software yet. A brand skip QC 10% bottles leaked, customers churned. Another used a free inspection checklist caught issue pre shipment, fixed before shipping and then save 40k in refunds. Now let's recap. Phase number one is idea and research validate demand with free AI tools. Phase two is supplier discovery, build vendor scorecards using import EIT plus LinkedIn. Phase number three sampling and development mockups in Canva and track revisions in Notion. Phase number four Costing and negotiation.
