Lara Guevara says 80% of product launch delays come from missing communication. The fix: a purchase order with a detailed milestone schedule, not just a delivery date. Include approval, production start, production completion, QC inspection, ready-to-ship, and warehouse receipt dates so supplier and buyer stay aligned.

80% of product launch delays traced back to one missing document. Not a factory issue, not a logistics issue, a communication issue. Because the most common launch failure is a supplier who had different assumptions than you about specs, quantities, qualities, packaging, or ship date, and nobody put it in writing. The document that prevents this is a purchase order with a production milestone schedule attached. Not just a delivery date, a schedule. Example: approval date, production start, production complete, QC inspection date, ready-to-ship date, and in warehouse target date. When both sides sign off on that schedule, you have alignment. When only one side has it, you have assumptions. Assumptions create delays. Open your most recent purchase order, Count how many production milestone dates it includes. If the answer is 0, fix that on the next order.
