Larry Weidel recounts his lifelong desire to write—majoring in creative writing, submitting to magazines as a child, and defying parental expectations to pursue law or business. He describes writing as therapeutic, making him feel seen and heard, and explains that this personal experience motivates him to help others write books now.

I always wanted to write. I majored in creative writing. I was submitting articles to Highlights magazine when I was 12 years old so there was nothing else I wanted to do. Much to my parents horror it was not what they wanted for me. And you don't really get as a kid like they didn't communicate, oh, we're just scared you're gonna not be able to make a living. It was just like go to law school, go to business school. And I didn't. Yeah. And so why. Honestly there was nothing else. I was good at nothing. Truly the things I'm good at, I'm really good at and there are very few of them. And it was all I see in retrospect that it was extremely therapeutic for me to be able to make sense of my life and feel seen. I felt very unseen and unheard and I believe that is the why behind what I do because I was able to feel seen and heard from doing books and now I help other people.
