In this brief talk, the speaker—who is a broker—explains how brokers can add a layer of protection against liability by formally documenting office code‑of‑ethics and professionalism training. He advises brokers to record the training in their Errors & Omissions (E&O) files, to distribute and reference the "Pathways to Professionalism" brochure, and to hold sales meetings focused on professionalism, noting those meetings in the E&O file as well. The speaker emphasizes that while a broker can train agents and provide information, they cannot control the agents' actions; nevertheless, a broker’s past documented actions influence whether the local licensing board may discipline them. By keeping thorough records of ethics and professionalism initiatives, brokers can demonstrate proactive risk management and potentially mitigate board scrutiny.
