How do you build up the sense of Spirit-led leadership so that you can make it through whatever kind of chaotic situation you find yourself in, whether it's at home or in the workplace or at church or wherever it is you are in life? The faith-driven leadership has to always be looking up. And the way that you can look up without faltering is only if your foundation is solid. The foundation has to be the Word. And when you look at the word of God, look at the Bible, you know what's amazing? Be not afraid, do not fear— those combinations of words, 365 times in the Bible. So except for a leap year, that's one a day. Every day it's be not afraid, do not fear. Every day. That's where you start. Number one, be not afraid. In the Bible So now that you're thinking about where your foundation comes in, your foundation's in the Word. What's the second thing you do to lead through those times of fear? You have to remember that God is the ultimate and perfect provider. You don't have to know what the other side of the storm looks like. When you're in leadership, the most important thing to do is to know the other side's going to come, and it might be ugly, and then you'll deal with it. And it might be perfect, and you'll deal with it. And it might not reveal itself for a while, and you'll deal with it. That's what leadership looks like. Leadership is not a textbook. It is not some self-help book or a checklist. It is a step and another step and another step, all the while with eyes on you, because people are watching to see how you move forward, looking for the other side. So for me, leading in a time of chaos with your faith hat on, well, I can look at the Bible and I know that God always came through on the other side. So that's when you say, thanks, thanks God, appreciate you looking out for me like that. Because he knows what you need before you need it. When you're in leadership, he might be the only one who understands everything you've been through, so you may as well talk to him about it. Leadership is about finding a pathway. It doesn't mean that it's somebody else's, by the way. It doesn't mean it's the well-traveled road. It just means moving when God provides a way because he already has. And that's just two things you can consider as you're getting yourself together to keep going. And by the way, the most important thing I will leave you with on this is that the faith-led leadership knows it's never alone. You are never asked to lead by yourself.
