You start believing that you're not worthy of being compensated. You know what? You won't get paid. Do any of y'all feel like when you're paid a commission, you've earned those dollars? You know why you've earned it? It's not for the transaction you're in right now. It's for every transaction you did prior to this one. It is all the things that you've learned and all the things that you've unlearned that make you valuable right now. That's worth being compensated for. It is okay to call yourself professional. And if you think that you're supposed to change because the media says commissions are being too sticky, they're not coming down enough, which are my favorite op-eds to read in the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.
