New managers need genuine conviction about the work, not just obedience. If you don't believe in the vision, you can't inspire your team or make projects succeed. This matters especially for middle managers who didn't found the company but have to carry out its vision.
Chapters
What new managers don't pay attention to enough is what is their true belief? Like they feel like they might have to be like a soldier so they just get orders and they have to execute it. Watching your conviction is really important particularly since you often start out not as like the founder of the company but you might be like a middle manager. So you didn't like create the vision but you are in some ways expected to execute it. I just think you have to really check in with yourself on like if you don't feel good about it then it's not going to be very likely that the project's going to succeed because if you don't really believe in what you're doing and or you're just kind, kind of parroting the thing that got passed through the organization, it's very hard for you to then be able to help other people see what that magic is or to be actually really effective as a person who can hold that vision and that purpose.
