This is a YouTube video titled "Your hidden complicity" created on June 3, 2025. The content features a single speaker discussing the concept of being complicit in creating unwanted life conditions, emphasizing radical self-inquiry to understand personal agency and self-delusion regarding busyness and exhaustion.
The question that I often ask is, how have I been complicit in creating the conditions I say I don't want? I purposely chose the word complicit because complicit does not mean responsible. To understand the word complicit, think of the word accomplice. You are driving the getaway car. You're not sticking up the bank teller. The second half of that question is, I say I don't want. And sometimes people hear that and they interpret it as, How have I been responsible for the shit in my life? That is not the purpose of this question. The purpose of this question is actually to evoke your own agency, to look at the ways in which you may have been deluding yourself. A perfect example of that would be, I say I don't want to feel busy all the time. But the truth of the matter is, I feel really unnerved and disconcerted if my agenda isn't jam-packed. And the reason that this is all really important is to use what I call radical self-inquiry to really cut through our own delusions and say, how does it serve me to feel completely busy to the point where I feel exhausted?
