You're not the main character

In the story of your work, you are probably not the protagonist when you're in an organization. Like, it's an ecosystem, right? Full of people who are all trying to work together to get a thing done. And if every single one of those people is operating from their own protagonist viewpoint of this is how I actually see the world, and I need to convince everyone around me at all times, it becomes extremely inefficient and becomes extremely painful. Everyone's just fighting all the time. Understanding how to build a shared mental model of everyone together that definitionally cannot be defined by your own narrow perspective actually just makes work a lot better for everybody.
